SimConnect Menu (like used by GSX)

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon Pete,

my problem which I'd like to explain below is absolutely not FSUIPC related but anyway I'd like to post it here... maybe I can use FSUIPC in combination with WideFS to avoid it.

I'd like to use GSX. However I don't want to have the GSX menues in the sim view as I am using a full homecockpit with a 240 degrees visual. Is there any possiblity for FSUIPC / WideFS to "grab" the simconnect menu and display it on a networked computer so that I can get rid of the menu in the outside view? Also the keypresses have to be forwarded then by WideFS to P3D but as far as I know that is no problem.

Thanks for any reply!

Daniel

That facility is already built into FSUIPC and WideFS for FSX and P3D1-3, but not yet for P3D4 (pending facilities from L-M). My own cockpit with a 220 degree FOV cureved screen from NatVis needs this facility too, so I will be pressing L-M myself for P3D4.

Unfortunately the menu cannot be completely removed from the sim's screen -- it is made smaller and moved out of the way (top left), as if I remove it, Simconnect no longewr supplies the selection back to the originator. I never found a way around that.

The details are in the Lua Library documentation, because it involves using a Lua plug-in onthe WideFS client PC.  See the Lua library document, lookup "event.textmenu". There's even an example plug-in provided which handles a client display showing the Radar Contact type display, the normal SimConnect text line from the top of the screen (which is suppressed on that screen) and the current menu, if any.

Pete
