When I think "retro" this list is not what comes to mind, but I guess the people have spoken. Can all 42 who voted be considered internet influencers? 😀

Ha ha bartman...yep agree and dummy spitting out time as no iconic BOAC! Obviously not enough Brits on the forum who voted! 😜

For the KLM MD-11 you should use this colorscheme in stead of the one of your link, as it's a retro pack:

As that livery was the one submitted and voted for, I believe it would be unfair for me to change it now.

It looked like a close race on both ends. US list had a 8 way tie. I was curious if any last votes would push any of those up. Guess not. KLM took lead fast and stayed lead the entire time. It's the only one that had a significant gap between another livery. I'm happy with the results. I might not use all of them but I might use most. 🙂

I was a little dissapointed also or perhaps I was under the misconception of Retro meaning older types and airlines and types not seen today.

I was looking forward to constructing a  custom timetable based on the late 60's &  70's  with heaps of Pan Am & TWA 707's, BOAC VC10's, DC8's and  various early 747 operators , Eastern & Delta L1011 etc, all operating out of airports like JFK, SFO etc. Considering that most of the airports  modelled in Tower are US airports., I thought that more older US operators would get higher votes.

For Europe, inclding the UK the likes of Lufthansa 707;s 747-200;s etc would be more prominant. All BOAC types as well.

I don't understand the Ansett 747-400 getting so many votes as they only operated out of one airport (YMML) that is modelled in Tower.

I guess my aviation memory goes back to far these days.

I await the flack 🤢

I would have liked a slightly different outcome as well, but I think in the final list there will be something in for everyone.

No that's ok. As intended with the vote, full disclosure so everyone knows what is going on. I would also like to say I have no issue with comments or constructive criticism on here. Sensible discussion is welcome.

If anyone has any ideas for improving the way that future updates are handled, those comments are also welcome as well 😊

No issues on my end. For democracy to succeed you need participation. Unfortunately for all the RC updates where the community has been involved, for whatever reason participation has been lacking.

I have my thoughts but I’ll keep them to myself. Don’t want the thread to get deleted. 😉

i didnt think about this at the time of voting, maybe what should have been voted on was retro airlines with  heavy aircraft, and retro airlines that where airlines with not heavy type aircraft.

Ehh I'd have to disagree with that mainly because even though I enjoy seeing Heavys fly in, most airports in game can't handle only heavys so to have a mixture of both various aircraft sizes helps fill gates to see a variety. Plus, if you had that vote in the poll and only one aircraft type was nominated, you might get fewer people voting. Having a variety allowed more people to vote whether we liked the results at the end or not.

Kind of a moot point now

  • 1 month later...

I'm sure with everything that has been going on this thread has probably been put on the back burner. But with the recent update from @FeelThere about the new Honolulu airport in the works. I remembered about the Aloha 737 getting selected and thought it would be a cool airline to see once PHNL gets released. Any news on when the retro list will get released?
