Tower 3D - recommendation on airport selection

I have only used Tower 2011 Heathrow
As discussed in previous topics, after an upgrade to Windows 10 v1909 my laptop has stopped running this program
So I have had to no choice to purchase a new computer in order to run this, and prepare for Tower 3D

I was at the stage where I had modified Tower 2011 Heathrow quite heavily
Summer 2019 timetable, with correct runway and Terminal use

I am therefore looking to purchase to one airport for Tower 3D, that is as similar to Heathrow as possible
The majority of flights are wide-body / International
There are two parallel runways and the main terminal is between them
A cargo terminal

Any and all advice welcome

Atlanta is not a haven for heavies and it is a resource hog. I'd definitely recommend looking elsewhere.

Exactly👆

My recommendations:

1.) JFK has terminals between main runways 13s-31s, with cargo, and plenty of international traffic

2.) Munich with it's parallel runways also good option for intl flights+cargo but mainly LH (like BA at Heathrow)

Keep in mind that Vic has stated that EGLL is planned for Tower 3D, though no info has been given on where it currently lies in the production order.

As for your request, in terms of layout, EDDM and KPHX are probably the closest, but neither of those airports caters to heavies.  In terms of the features/function you ask for, OMDB and EDDF are your best bets.  lots of heavies and traffic, parallel runways, and they are really nice looking add-ons.  OMDB probably has more heavies, but Frankfurt has a traffic mix that is closer to Heathrow

EDDM appears to be my first choice
The chart looks to be the closest
Equally, I can then have one runway for departures and one for arrivals

KPHX is my second choice
Again, very similar
Equally, the Cargo terminal is to the other side of one runway which presents the challenge of crossing an active runway

Today I have been comparing the above two with the Real files available
This has then shown that ODMB may be a third option
My preference is a higher ratio of International flights

I assume the real files can be shared (I would then just need to work out how)
Example
The BA A350 from ODMB can be loaded into KPHX

Yes, if you have Real Traffic any plane can appear at any airport if you modify/create a schedule appropriately. And then the same thing goes with liveries in Real Color. For example, if you have RC for OMDB and it contains the BA A350, then this livery can be seen at any other airport. Again, with an appropriately created schedule.

Yes, that is part of my plan
This summer there should have been some BA fleet changes, thankfully the aircraft are available but had not yet been applied to the airports

This will also help me when EGLL is released, I will be well placed to refine and create a summer 2019 version

  • 4 weeks later...

Decided to go with EDDM and OMDB

Plenty of Charts for EDDM

However, I am struggling to find suitable Taxiway and Parking charts for OMDB
The main issue is the angle / orientation (heading), as I am used to EGLL
Are there any that have been rotated in landscape format?

EGLL is in the works so that one is going to be next in line.

Can you please provide the inform you got that says EGLL is the next airport to be released? I've heard others talk about it being planned in the works but not worked on and planned to be next.

Possible short term solution
There are four charts, but each is slightly different
Added white edges / borders to enlarge to each
Opened up Paint, then rotated it, cropped, and saved each as JPG
Next I had to crop each of the JPG images, then merge into one
Quite a faff, but I now have one chart
