OMDB - Runway 30R arrival - Incorrect procedure Vacating Runway

Recommended Posts

A slight correction is required and would be appreciated
Some arriving aircraft are incorrectly using
M5A
when I would be expecting to be using
M3A
or
M6

In this example
The A388 correctly uses
M3A
However the two B77W should also be using
M3A
but they are not

When watching them they are braking heavily into
M5A
Decelerating correctly down to 40, then dramatically down to 10

Landing performance and runway exit speeds are game engine issues that have been discussed ad nauseum on the forum. The issues became clearly evident early on at KSAN and more so at KSFO where they cause the airport to be unplayable using realistic runway operations.

I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with the EXIT RUNWAY and VACATE RUNWAY commands. Unfortunately with no further game engine modifications, these commands are the only options available.

Note: With T!2011 we could modify the landing performance characteristics as a workaround. Unfortunately, this feature (airplane editor) was taken away with T!3DP.

I am already using them for aircraft that use Terminal 2 and Apron Q
Just a shame they cannot be combined and are voice only, CTRL + V typing is required

Runway 30r is used for takeoffs an 30l is used for landings

I have been testing / training to get used to the ease of operations
Sadly DXB is one airport I have never been to

This week I started off with
12L - departures / 12R - arrivals
As there are fewer pinch points do deal with
Equally, I am trying to avoid crossing active runways

Today
30L - departures / 30R - arrivals
One pinch point to deal with
Again, easier to avoid crossing active runways
I then noticed the runway entry points are vastly better

Yesterday I watched some Apron movement videos which helped solve some of the issues

I will now test with
30R departures / 30L landings
This does mean I now need to work out how to cross active runways (something which EGLL does not really have)

I had concerns about crossing Runway 12R / 30L
However the procedure is actually easier than with Tower 2011 EGLL

Part of the Pushback procedure at OMDB is the controller will advise the aircraft as to the direction of travel; east / west
I noticed UA805 was facing in wrong direction
Plan was to send it via J1 / L3 but it was facing towards W / J2
It amazingly did a U-turn where one is not permitted?!

When doing that I usely type in the way I want it to taxi when I give it pushback

Please advise what term works (none in the Manual)
Procedure is east / west

When I play dxb I would type Emirates 1 pushback approve expect runway 30r via u j1 l3 m an it will find the route an pushback towards that direction

I tried this
All that is accepted is
Emirates 1 pushback approved expect runway 30R
It would appear nothing is permitted after the runway number

To use the command, either edit the tower3d.rec file itself or replace it with a modified file. A modified version can be found here:

If I remember correctly, the original file only contains the command "Pushback approved, expect Runway X".

Only commands that the game already knows how to process (ie. can be typed into the command line and work) will be accepted by the game.

You could add "Callsign, the moon is made of cheese" and the voice recog will convert it to text, but the game still doesn't know how to process it, and so it will be rejected and will not work.

That is not the case, as the two above are voice only commands

There is no such thing as "voice only" commands. All commands can be typed, including those contained in the tower3d.rec file.

Please test your hypotheses before replying with something that can so easily be shown to be incorrect, simply by typing it into the game's command line.

Vacate Runway, for Terminal 2
I now need some advice on this route

My normal command is
Callsign Runway 30L cleared to land
Callsign Take next available exit on right

As a result aircraft vacate at
M12B

I have been trying
Callsign Runway 30L cleared to land
Callsign Exit at taxiway M8

I have no problem getting aircraft that normally exit at
K8
or
K9
to take another exit, my usual one is
K1

However for aircraft that exit to the north it seems to be random whether they actually use
M8
At the last second  I notice they use either of the two default exits, usually
K9

Equally, the majority of these aircraft are quite small, such as A320 or B737
Therefore it does not give much time to issue a command once landed
It is something like 10 seconds between landing and the route to exit being applied

Any advice welcome

Though it is unrealistic, a way around this is to give them the "exit at taxiway XX" command before they land. No, it isn't realistic, but it is the best option within the limitations of the game engine.

As above,
I have been trying the following as soon as the aircraft appears on the arrivals strip
Callsign Runway 30L cleared to land
Cleared to land Callsign (reply)
Callsign Exit at taxiway M8
Exit at taxiway M8 (reply)

I have tested again with five aircraft that would normally accept
Take next available exit on right
However, one did not do so, and I cannot work out why?!

That would be a new discovery if the TAKE NEXT AVAILABLE command was only accepted by certain aircraft.  I've always thought the command success rate was based more on timing (command issued between touchdown and successful landing message, if I'm not mistaken).
