djerwood 0
Please help, I can't get this to run because of this error message
flying-w 77
I'd like more details please. Tell me exactly what happens from when you start STB to when you see this error message. It beings to sound like your Prepar3D is not installed correctly or there is a problem with the registry keys. Simon
djerwood 0
Sure thing and thank you for your time! What I'm trying to do is download the Stb Data Server on my P3D computer. I plan to next download STB on another networked computer, but I haven't gotten that far yet. That was for context. So when I start STB Data Server the following happens: I'm running STB DS as administrator, running p3d v5 and the STB DS Screen is up. Simulator Connection "Status": Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v5 Version 5.0.31.35253 is green and appears connected. At the bottom of the screen there's a big red X and it says "Lockheed Martin Prepard3D v5 was not found on this computer. Under the scenery tab I next try to Compile Airports Database and get the following error message: STB Content Error Could not find aircraft ATC_TYPE in configuration file E:\Prepar3Dv5\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3Dv5\SuperTrafficBoard Data Server V5 for Prepar3D-V5\Aircraft\Flying-W Invisible Aircraft\aircraft.cfg. STB Content Error Reporting may be disabled in 'Trace Settings' (available in the 'Help' pull down menu)." I press 'ok' and get the following Error Message: An exception occurred while trying to compile a new airports database. As a result of this error, the default airport database will be used. The default database does not contain flight schedules, airport data (runways and parking) or airport names you may have customized. This may result in incorrect flight numbers being displayed, incorrect departures schedules for aircraft moved to the stand by approach control, and flight distance data will be more limited. flying-w 77
Thank you for the additional information, this is somewhat different to the first description. In any case lets start to work your problem.Don't worry about the content error, that's niot the real issue here. First of all, can you tell me which version of STB-DS you have please? It's in the window title at the stop of the main STB-DS screen. Thanks Simon
djerwood 0
I apologize for any confusion. The version at the top of the the main window title is 5.0.2020.17800 for Prepar3D V5
flying-w 77
Thanks - that's the latest. Here's the next step. 1) Start STB-DS 2) Click Trace Settings and change "Level of Detail" to "Verbose" 3) Note the Trace File Location in the box below. 4) Click OK, reproduce the problem. 5) Change Trace back down to "Information" 6) Send me the trace file. They zip quite well. If it can't go here, please email it to me. Thanks Simon
djerwood 0
Thank you and I've included the zipped file as requested STBDataServer.Trace.zip
flying-w 77
Thanks for the file, but I don't see any evidence of the problem being reproduced while the trace was set to verbose. Are you sure you did that? You start up the simulator and we connect to it, but we don't try compiling the airport database as described at the start. Thanks Simon
djerwood 0
Simon, I'm at a loss then. All I did was start up the simulator and followed the steps above. I didn't try to compile the airport database, merely connected to the simulator. I re-did the Trace Settings and will include the zip file. I did change it to Verbose. You describe your problem as occurring when you compile the airport database as in the above extract from your first post. In my trace instructions, I asked in step 4 for you to reproduce the problem, i.e. compile the database, which I don't think you have. I'll be glad to look into this for you, but I need you to reproduce the problem by compiling the airport database while the trace is set to verbose. Thanks Simon
djerwood 0
I'm so sorry I was understanding you to mean not to compile the database, sending now. I apologize for my confusion and thank you for your patience STBDataServer.Trace 3.zip
flying-w 77
Thank you. Can you tell me the folder location where Prepar3D is installed please? Thanks Simon

flying-w 77
The reason why it's broken for you is because your registry appears broken. Here's what STB-DS learned about your installation folder: 9/29/2020 10:04:05 PM.535: P3DFileHelper.GetSimInstallPathFromRegistry(): Trying SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5 9/29/2020 10:04:05 PM.535: > FileHelper.GetRegistryValue() key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5, subKey:SetupPath 9/29/2020 10:04:05 PM.535: < FileHelper.GetRegistryValue: Read C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\ Perhaps you have reinstalled or something like that? Can you fix your registry key so it matches reality on your PC?
