MakeRunways 64-bit release version 5.11 released (includes MSFS)

Recommended Posts

An updated version of MakeRunways is now released which works with Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) as well as FSX and P3D.  The main changes from the currently released version are:

1. It is converted from a 32-bit application to a 64-bit one. This is because it runs out of memory processing the largest MSFS airports (eg LFPG). It didn't crash, just carried on without providing some data -- mainly taxiways (T5.csv) for such airports.

2. It copes with airports with more than 4095 taxiway points, such as the MSFS airports KATL and LFPG. (This problem never arose with P3D or FSX).

You can download it using this link:

MakeRwys.zip

It is also available on FSUIPC.com and in the 'Useful Additional Programs' thread in the Download Links folder.

Version 5.11 includes a fix to the /+Q ("quiet") option so that the process terminates correctly after all the files are produced.

Please be sure to read the included MakeRwys README document. Instructions for use with FSX and P3D haven't changed, but a section about MSFS is added.

Thanks go to Matt Johnson on fsdeveloper.com for his invaluable help with the formatting and encoding of the scenery BGL files. There are many important differences from the FSX versions.

Note that the MSFS data does not currently provide Country names, so for "Official" sceneries that field in Runways.xml will be blank.

My question is, what is it, and what does it do?

If you don't know, and don't use any programs which need it, then you don't need to know. But if you are curious try reading the included document.

😅 ...it's just that I simply adore this experienced, professional, well ordered scientist's way of handling quite an intensive and by fits and starts awkward question-spangled flow of his forum!

#include <stdio.h>
int main(void) {
    printf("Three times hooray for FSUIPC!! -- ");
    int count;
    for (count = 1; count <= 3; count++)
        printf("HIPHIPHOORAY ");
    return 0;
}

👍

I have attempted to employ the links provided but none of the links for the MakeRways.zip are functioning. Advise or guidance please?🤔

They are certainly all still working. I've just tried the one in this Announcement, the one in Download Links - Useful Additional Programsand the one on FSUIPC.com.

You have some problem on your system I'm afraid.

I have just checked these and the one on www.fsuipc.com works fine.  The one in the Useful Additional Programs sub-forum only works for me if Iright-click and select 'open in new tab' for some reason....

...I see Pete has also replied...

That is very strange when, as you can see, they are identical links, i.e. to

http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/MakeRwys.zip

And they act identically for me.

Its not the links, its the page and/or download link caching, I control the ones on www.fsuipc.com, I'm not sure what they are using on SimFlight but probably stricter settings with cache-reuse. Probably also browser dependent to.

Hmm. Strange. I don't really understand that, but for information I use Chrome.

So do I (as my standard go-to browser). A left click on the links doesn't work for me. As i said, I have to right-click and select 'open in separate tab' or 'save link as...'. Same for me for many download links, I don't know why. The www.fsuipc links work fine for me though. Probably related to some setting somewhere or the plug-ins used (I use DownloadManager, but its been playing-up recently, so maybe its part of the problem, O don't know...).

Anyway, all I am saying is that there can be issues with download links that are related to the browser config and settings/plugins.. If clicking the link directly doesn't work, then left click and download or open in separate tab and that should do the trick.
Its nothing I will be be looking into - its up to the user and the browser/plug-in they are using.
