Tower!3D Pro - Livery issue with the 737-800 AAL

Recommended Posts

I am completely at a loss...

I'm working on a custom schedule for Newark and found that all 73Hs from American (and United, but I'm still trying to figure that one out, so disregard that for a moment) turned out white (I have updated RealTraffic to SP6V27, and I own all RCs, including retro).

The funny thing is that the 73Hs from American work perfectly next door at Kennedy! And there's also no mistake made in the schedule. Here's an example.

Flight AAL1388 arriving at JFK:
(PHX,JFK,73H,AA,1388,05:55,12:00,1,AA)

Flight AAL2505 departing from EWR:
(EWR,CLT,73H,AA,2505,12:00,05:00,1,AA)

Any idea what goes wrong would be wildly appreciated...

The issue is the kewr_airplanes.txt file. In this file, you will see the following entry for the 73H:
B73H-73H-BOEING 737-800 (WINGLETS)                -NARROW BODY JET
The entry in kjfk_airplanes.txt, is as follows:
B738-73H-BOEING 737-800 (WINGLETS)                -NARROW BODY JET.

When playing KEWR and using the KEWR file, 73H gets converted to B73H. There is a RT model for the B73H, but there are no liveries for the B73H in any of the RC packs. Hence, your problem.
When playing KJFK and using the KJFK file, 73H gets converted to B738. There is a RT model for the B738, and there are plenty of liveries for the B738. Hence, everything is fine.

It looks like the 73H change was introduced with FAOR and has been propagated to all the airports released after it. KIAD actually has the 73H in the RT schedule. I'm surprised the white plane issue wasn't discovered pre-release by the beta testers and post-release by customers. Basically, this again highlights a flaw of having airport specific airplane files in Real Traffic, a lack of cohesiveness between RT and RC, and quality control opportunities.

The simple solution, until @nyergesdesign decides how to rectify the situation, is to replace the 73H entry in the KEWR file with the one in the KJFK file.
