jfmitch
I am having one hellva time trying to purchase FSUIPC through Simmarket. They offer credit card , however they want my security code on my VISA and I won't give that to anyone except bank officials. They state on their web site that one must initiate PayPal transactions at PayPal before coming to their site. I use PayPal for most of my web purchases and PayPal does not have their company registered "that I could find". When I complained they answered me back that I could use PayPal on their site if I "bought items there regularily". What's up? Either they are a PayPal organization or they are not. I'm confused (what's new). Jim ~~~ Barrie, Ontario, Canada
Pete Dowson
They offer credit card , however they want my security code on my VISA and I won't give that to anyone except bank officials. You mean the three digit number on the back? Don't you use your credit card much these days? Every single dealer, whether by phone, email, website, whatever, want that now. It's all part of the improved security -- the number doesn't appear on receipts and so on, so if you quote that correctly they know you aren't just someone who picked up an old receipt or carbon, at a shop etc. It's for your security. Don't forget they don't get to see your signature. What's up? Either they are a PayPal organization or they are not. I'm confused (what's new). No idea, sorry. Ask them. jfmitch
I do use my credit card often and because I gave that number out once I got burnt. VISA will do nothing to help you with an on-line purchase that goes a-foul if you give out that number. I sell books and don't ask for it either with VISA or MasterCard. What it does is seal your purchase. I guess I'll have to get along without your program and that's a shame. Jim ~~~
Pete Dowson
I do use my credit card often and because I gave that number out once I got burnt. VISA will do nothing to help you with an on-line purchase that goes a-foul if you give out that number. Well, it must be different in your part of the world. Without that number I might as well scrap my credit card and never do on-line or telephone shopping at all, because no one I've dealt with for a couple of years will sell without it. In this country (and as far as I know all parts of the EU) the credit card company is liable no matter what. They can't get out of their legal responsibilities on such a flimsy basis. Your consumer protection laws need tightening by the sound of it! The security number is not a PIN number, used to get cash, it is what it says it is. PIN number protection is most definitely a different kettle of fish. SimMarket offer many other ways to pay, even cash if you want to trust the mail service. It's up to you. I'm sure many folk use PayPal, that's certainly the commonest option these days I think. I have no idea why you were refused that option, it makes no sense. Check with their Customer Services.
