Thanks for your info, Ian,
I might have solved the issue in the meantime - I am still waiting on beta tester feedback before I know for sure. If it is solved, I naturally will close it here.

Thinking about what I said above the only relevant thing that has changed between when the FSX connection still worked is the FSUIPC version. The failure occurs with the current version 4.9.3.4. I replaced it with the first older version that I could find (4.0.9.0) and it is working again.
Any idea why this is?

Hi.
I am the author of the ADE Environment Checker that accompanies Jon Masterson's ADE. I am overhauling the tool to support P3D. One of the functions is to test the connection to each installed sim. For this I am using a basically unchanged version of the sample provided in the SDK (we are talking about VB6 here).
This works fine for FS9 and P3D, but the same code results in the error message "Call cannot execute, link not Open" for FSX. This used to work in the past.
Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Yes, the taxi lines are as well leading in a way that a turn is required. The Follow Me Car is working exactly according to the FS defaults.
Can you beat it ? :D
I guess that placing the car before the aircraft is not the problem, but finding a good way would be a very clever trick.

Hi Daniel,
Several times the FollowMe Car appeared behind my airplane on the runway (which would have required me to make a turn on to follow him). I guess that the key is like with AI - it tries to go the shortest way to the parking spot, which is not necessarily the shortest way to leave the runway.
I don't know if this would solve the problem or if it is possible from the technical point of view. If you would place the FollowMe Car alway in front of the airplane and with the same heading (anyway better than to have to discover it behind oneself) and further if it would not be allowed to turn around, would that solve the issue?

Test 5 still says:

The SimConnect.dll for FSX Service Pack 1 was not found in the Side-by-Side folder ( C:\Windows\WinSxS\ ). FollowMe needs this DLL. The DLL is installed by:
- FSX Service Pack 1
- FSX Service Pack 2
- FSX Acceleration
Make sure you have a proper install of one of these three versions of FSX.
The Report does not disclose anything else. How can I help you to debug this?

Hi Daniel,
A fine test utility. On my machine test 5 (simconnect installation) fails, although the dll is installed (three times: org, SP1, SP2). Maybe you have to re-check the routine. If I can provide any help, just ask.

I just discovered this great addon and I am already on my way to simmarket to get it. Would it be possible to provide an alternative military texture for the Follow Me Car (or even better a real Military model :D ) ?
