  1. Well, all is well that ends well. Looks like GaryGB chased this to the ends of the earth! Thanks Muchly.

The answer was in the details - turns out that That specific version of FSUIPC (3.998g) had a bug. Older and new versions cause no interference. Took me a while to get there - I was certain that I already had the latest version there...

  2. Well, that is what I thought was true about FSUIPC - that there could be no way in which it could be related. It was the last thing I tried... and that undoubtedly was the culprit.

Version 3.75 is working ok for me, though. So also is version 3.999w. Perhaps there was some bug that was fixed after 3.998g that restored normal functionality? (It was 3.998g that was causing the interference.)

Anyway - all is good now. I posted here as I was unaware given the info on the schiratti site that FSUIPC has been updated so frequently - and using the latest version posted on this forum, the problem was resolved. The version on the website, though, is still 3.998g - which was causing the problem.

  3. I discovered after some trial and error that FSUIPC is disrupting the sound from my various Vistamare powered sceneries - entirely shutting it off in many cases and disturbing its playback in other cases. Would it be possible to get this fixed in a newer version? In the meantime, I am experimenting with older versions in hopes they do not cause the same issues.

  4. Yes, FS2004 is the platform on which I am installing the sceneries. More properly FS9.1. As to my perhaps ill-mannered inquiry into the EFSTEP project, well...

I was looking into the possibility of New News on the project, being well acquainted with the previous postings on the subject... but if there is none to be had, well, then, there is none to be had.

No, the reason for the post is properly and solely the lack of sounds on the Harvey and Monroe scenery. The animations are present but the sounds are not... and I've checked that everything is in the right places, too... so I'm rather puzzled by the lack of sound on that addon!

All my other addons that use Vistamare are OK - just not that one.

  5. I have just reinstalled my FS - everything. Which naturally includes all of the Georender stuff and most of the FSAddon stuff. And I am at a bit of a loss as to what is going on with Harvey and Monroe.

I've got sounds and animations at all of the Georender sceneries - and I've even got the vimacore animations on the Harvey-Monroe addons by FSaddon, but for some reason, I've got no sounds for that addon. Again, all of the other addons I've installed work ok - just not that one.

I've made sure that it is installed in the default location, so I doubt that it simply cannot find the sounds. I really don't know what to do to get my sounds back.

I also want to know if there has been any progress on the EFSTEP project....

  6. No, the Ghana-rrhea comes from the HOT-HOT Pepper they put in the food! They like their goat-soup pretty spicy, I'll tell you!

Don't think I ever went a day without it.

Now, let me tell you, If I could smuggle this Malta Guiness into the USA IRL, there is a good chance I would. Better still, though, is the ALVARO!

    Alvaro_Soft_Drink.jpg

It's like Malta, but with a truly awesome blend of Pear, Pineapple, or Passion Fruit. Amazing stuff. Guiness would make bank if they brought it to the USA - but maybe Fritz will first, with the help of some of the old Crew!

PS. Just read the article you linked about the "near beer." Turns out this stuff isn't even near-beer. It's more of a malt-based soft drink.

  7. IMHO, FS in general- and Emma Field in particular- is all about having fun on one's own terms... and on one's own "turf".

Story lines of threads at EFFC Forum in process may vary as ongoing themes; or they may 'evolve'... as if having a life all their own.

Fritz (and assistant du jour 'Wabbit') try hard to please, stocking beverages for all who set foot or paw in KEWL's bar... as stated here: ;)

    GaryGB

I think you may have missed the tongue in cheek mode of my post. Although I admit I am a bit of a purist, I AM still smuggling "Near-Beer.".....

  8. hmmm. Some of us are tetotallers here - do you suppose we could convince the crusty old codger to accept something like this?

    DSCN2933.JPG

Malta Guiness - one of my Personal Favorites. Love this stuff - drank it by that gallon during my time in Ghana..

  9. Thanks!

But no thanks. Turns out that 1.) the link you posted to the textures doesn't work and 2.) after doing a little minor hacking and forcing that link to work for me anyway, it turns out that you didn't include in the textures archive the new version of FLMVhcl3.bmp - only the LM version. So that could do with a reupload.

Thanks for the effort, though! I'm looking forward to seeing it in my sim!

  10. I have all of the files you list for the FBO. I do NOT have EFFCheli1.bmp.

What do your FBO textures look like? Mine look like this (I have attached jpeg versions of them to the post).

I suspect that perhaps the FBO is not in fact untextured, but rather blueish as it may be mapped to FLMVhcl3.bmp - which for me includes only a horse.

  11. I was (am) using Emma Field in FS9. I bumped the "TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=" line from 5 to 6, which didn't do much by way of increasing my autogen density overall - but prevented the aircraft, runway, hangars, clubhouse, vegetation, fences - basically everything that made Emma nice - from displaying. Oddly enough, the big ol' Kenmore truck, the lawnmower, and everything glider related stayed put.

Resetting the slider from inside the sim fixed everything right up in a jiffy.

Oh - and oddly, the sounds also quit with the autogen tweak I'd tried - but the animations for the items that remained still worked.

As to the FBO, I just went through my entire Emma Field folder - and found no textures for an EFFC building or a Helipad. Indeed, the Helipad file references an "EFFCHELI1.bmp" that just isn't in my installation! I did a complete vanilla install of Emma Field after I loaded it and found my buildings screwed up, so mine is a complete and brand-new installation from my original installation file. But my EFFC base is still untextured.

  12. I just tried the club-house in Emma - and didn't get any textures for the clubhouse or the Helipad - which for that matter also didn't add a start location. Hmmm... what's going on here?

BTW, I just learned you should never turn your autogen off, even by accident, when you have a Georender installed! I was fiddling with FS, trying to force it to display a greater density of trees and ended up borking KEWL badly enough I thought I might have to reinstall FS to get it working again - only to find it was my errant autogen tweaks that prevented the display of the Emma buildings.

  13. Alrighty then! Seems vector terrain is more powerful than I thought. I figured I might as well try using an LWM to flatten the problematic bump at the second waterfall at Emma Field. It worked.

I am now running FS9 with UT USA 1.3, Holger Sandmanns CRG, FSGenesis mesh, and my FS9.cfg set at MAX_vertex_level=21 - and no significant issues at any of the GeoRender or LAGO sceneries! If any are interested, I'll upload what I have. Just keep in mind, my work is quick and dirty - not polished like some would desire (including my very self) - but functional.

The sceneries my recent work fixes, at least in part, include:

Bear Gulch (RealAir - wonderful place, about 5 mins from Emma Field - and absolutely unusable with the above scenery combinations! Sat, for me at least, in a 150 ft. pit in the ground)

Orcas Island (FSAddon - didn't have much to fix save a few shore-lines)

Emma Field (LAGO - confusing. Sometimes it seemed to need a total redo, other times, not a thing. In my above configuration, it needed some fairly extensive elevation fixes, coastline adjustments, and the repair of that pesky waterwall glitch. Almost all taken care of, save a couple minor issues)

GeoRender 3 - Diamond Point (LAGO - minor adjustments to shorelines)

I did not fix GeoRender 2 or GeoRender 6, both of which I also own, because the mismatches between their roads and streams and the UT 1.3 roads and streams were rather minor and didn't bother me that much - but a double shoreline sticks out like a sore thumb!

An important note on the above: these fixes are based on running both Holger Sandmanns CRG AND UT USA 1.3. Especially important is UT USA 1.3! If you are running the default terrain, you won't need these. If you are running UT USA 1.21, these will not work for you.

UT USA 1.21 is the current Flight1 installer file you'll get from the Flight1 website. It is NOT the most recent version! and it will take some looking to find the 1.3 update! here it is >>>>>> http://www.scenerysolutions.com/ut_downloads_FS9.html If you do not install the 1.3 update, my fixes will not help you. 1.3 introduces to significant changes to the Seattle area, in particular changing the altitude of the surface of Lake Cushman by tens of meters, among others!

Those many caveats added, if there is any remaining enthusiasm, please post here.

NOW, none of this diminishes my enthusiasim for EFSTEP! New mesh, reworked terrain in general, hoping to make Emma not only FIT, but fit WELL, THAT is something my "fixes" did not achieve - these are more like band-aids on top of a the larger wound...

  14. I do hate to be a troll, but I want to ask again what the status of the project is? What has been done? What is left to do? Is there a mesh now in existance that will work with emma field at vertex level 21?

I do thank you for your posting, though. It gives me hope for the future...

  15. Speaking Of.... fixes. I LOVE Emma Field... and I Love it with RealAirs Bear Gulch nearby! What is the progress on getting a mesh to work with them in FS9? I have had to resort to having two separate FS installations so that I can still fly in Emma. I would Love to be able to integrate my simming again...

  16. The patch posted below only addresses shorelines and is a rough attempt even at that - some bits would not be pounded in to shape whatever I did! No mesh issues are addressed - especially not the infamous water-fall issue, which is at this point beyond my skill.

But, certainly, *ROUGH* shorelines are better than the horrid mis-alignments that existed when using Emma Field with Ultimate Terrain before hand - now the scenery is actually flyable, at least!

    UTPatch.rar

  17. This is my second LAGO scenery - the other is Emma Field its very self, which works perfectly for me in FS9 - aside from UTUSA incompatiblity!

A big portion of my problem was that the "Active Scenery Player" simply did not appear in my "LAGO" menu, preventing toggling of said function.

However, the problem is now fixed. Following my hunch that "Vimaplay.dll" was the problem, I googled it... found a post via google on this very website discussing a very similar problem... the solution was to replace "Vimaplay.dll" as distributed with a newer version released separately in 2005. Said newer version was included as an attachment on a post on said thread, and thankfully the attachment was still valid. When I downloaded it and installed it, the problem disappeared. Now, I have sounds and animations at all three of the airports in FS9, due to the use of the new "Vimaplay.dll" module and the creation of a frankenstein install of Georender 2 blending components of the FS9 and FS2002 versions.

  18. Is Georender 2 supposed to have sounds in FS2004?

I would assume that it would, as it was developed after Emma Field and the documentation nowhere mentions a sound-related limitation in FS9...

but I resolutely have no scenery sounds with Georender 2 in FS2004...

    any ideas?
