    Pete,

    As for the licensing issue, I have a subscription which allows me to install more copies than I use. My providing you with a copy temporarily for this purpose would not violate my license with Jeppesen.

    I ran Process Explorer on FliteStar 9.5.3.0 and recorded the Load Address and Mapped Size of each module and have included that info below. This should give you a clue as to what changed in this version.

    I'm sorry, but it cost me over 400 Euros to update to the last one and I'm certainly not updating again so soon. Maybe in another 2-3 years.

    It's nothing to do with "moving" things. The libraries are installed in windows. It's to do with which compiler they use to compile with.

    And logs can easily be pasted into messages here. They are simple text files.

    The log won't tell me what Library versions they use. You'll need to find out. If it is only that which is changed then I should be able to fix it easily enough.

    Go to www.sysinternals.com and download ProcExp. When FliteMap is running, run ProcExp, find and select the FliteMap process in the list, and look through the list of DLLs it uses. You'll find the MFCxx.dll there. Let me know and I'll build an FStarRC for you to try.

    Cancel that ... your log shows MFC90.DLL is the one, like the previous release that I now have.

    In FliteStar 9.5.3.0 the version of MFC90.DLL is 9.0.30729.4148

    ProcExp says that MFC90.DLL loads at address 0x6DAF0000 and has a mapped size of 0x39C000 bytes.

    I'm sorry, but it cost me over 400 Euros to update to the last one and I'm certainly not updating again so soon. Maybe in another 2-3 years.

    It's nothing to do with "moving" things. The libraries are installed in windows. It's to do with which compiler they use to compile with.

    And logs can easily be pasted into messages here. They are simple text files.

    Hi, Pete,

    I'm not sure why it is costing you so much to upgrade but I have a subscription to NavSuite. Every 14 days, they send me two CD's which update the NavData, Charts AND program files. The latest CD's should upgrade your Flitestar version 9.5.2.1 to the latest version 9.5.3.0.

    I would be happy to send the update CD's to you or, better yet, if you have an ftp site to which I can upload the files, I can do that too.

    Also, if there is something I can do on my end to try and track down the information you need to rewrite the FStarRC executable, I would be happy to assist.

    Finally, this forum software will not allow me to send you the entire log file as it tells me the post is too big. So, I am inserting the first part of the FStarRC.log file into this email below my signature.

  4. FliteStar 9.5.2.1 (Build 15211) on W7?

    Okay, done.

    Version 2.11 if FStarRC works fine with FliteStar 9.521 build 15211. Tested here under Win7 okay. Download it from the Downloads subforum.

    Hey, I like the new free internet weather facilities in this update to Flitestar, but do you know how to get the Wind data automatically inserted into the Report and used in the fuel and time and best altitude computations?

    Looks like Jeppesen broke it again with 9.5.3.0.

    I running FStarRC 2.11 with FliteStar 9.5.3.0.

    I can't find any .apl file in the C:\Jeppesen\FliteStar

    The forum won't let me attach to log file for some reason. It appears from the log file that they moved MFC42.dll and MFC71.dll again.

    Anything I can do to help.

    I worked out the following partial workaround. It requires that the user have two separate logical partitions on their hard drive or a separate hard drive.

    Since a Flitestar license allows a user to install the program 3 times, if someone has only installed it on a desktop and a laptop, they can use the original master disks to install the program one more time on the separate hard drive or partition. The master disks for the program currently install version 9.0.x which works fine with FStarRC 1.86 and 2.00. The updates to the FliteStar program code are currently done through the navdata updates.

    After the separate install of 9.0.x, the user has to then copy from the working installation of 9.3 the following files:

    1. All files in c:\Jeppesen\Common\Terminal Charts

    2. All files in c:\Jeppesen\Common\Text, and

    3. All files in c:\Jeppesen\Flightstar\Enroute Data,

    to the corresponding folders in the 9.0.x installation. That way, the 9.0.x version, which works with FStarRC, can use the most current data for flight planning.

    The reason this is only a partial workaround is that both instances of FliteStar write a “flitestar.ini” file to the %systemroot%\Windows folder. So, both instances of the program try to read the same file and although 9.3 can read the one created by 9.0.x, the 9.0.x instance will crash when trying to read the one created by 9.3. This means that every time the user runs the 9.3 version, the 9.0.x version will crash the next time it is run and the flitestar.ini file will have to be recreated. This can easily be done by simply navigating to the C:\Windows folder (on most systems) and deleting the file "flitestar.ini" from the folder. The next time either version of FlightStar is run, it will create a new version. This will require resetting the default airplane and default view and window layout.

    However, until the new method is figured out, this compromise gives the best of both worlds.

    In fact, when Jeppesen came out with NavSuite, they dropped FliteMap. They claim that the same functionality is now available in their newer product FlighDeck. If you owned a license for FliteMap at any time in the past, you can still install it with any current version of FliteStar.

    I own the full NavSuite package with FliteStar/FliteMap version 9.3.0. but can not get FstarRC to work with it. Have you made any progress on that issue since September?
