  1. Hi Pete, First, I did search the Captain Sim F104 support pages but the problem was not indicated, only coming to light later as problem No. 290 on their list of more general problems affecting other products too. Also, Captain Sim produce some state-of-the-art add-ons, such as the C130 Hercules and one could expect their products work as advertised. Sure, once the problem is identified it is easy to fix. The F104 now works just fine, as does FS2004 with the newer FSUIPC dll installed after the F104 but, as I said, for some of us this is just working in the dark. Perhaps I should have titled the post " Older add-on causes FSUIPC conflict," but I am genuinely grateful for any information that leads to a better understanding of MFS. Cheers
  2. Hi Pete, A lot of us out here only have a vague idea of the inner workings of MFS and have to work pretty much in the dark. I suspected that an early version of FSUIPC had been installed with the F104 but the problem was that FS2004 simply would not start, despite the error message indicating that only the F104 would be unsupported. I have finally obtained the information from the CaptainSim support team indicating that this is what happened and that replacing their installation of the dll with the new, should fix the problem. Whilst FSUIPC might simply work away in the background it does seem to have some influence on the general working of the sim because nothing worked until I updated. Anyway, thanks for the information. Cheers
  3. Hi. After a lot of problems I manually installed the Captainsim F104 using their code as auto-install would not work. On starting FS2004 a message appeared stating that the wrong version of FSUIPC was being used and that it would close. FS2004 would not start at all after that, although I had removed my hard won F104 the same error message appeared at every attempt. The only way I could get FS2004 to start was by purchasing the latest version of FSUIPC. The question is - if I try the CaptainSim F104 again will it be accepted, or is this linked to an earlier version of Fsuipc? I would not like to risk the loss of FS2004 again. I have other Captain Sim products which have been problem free. I also forgot to note the versions listed in the error message - but I was in shock at the time! Cheers
