  1. He may have, as he has been using the existing components, but having lots of problems, hence his earlier posting on Avsim http://forum.avsim.net/topic/381125-flight-controls-gone-haywire/ - but it didn't come up in the conversation, and my experience with serial ports has been solely using laptops to connect to servers in a past life... I'm not aware of any serial driver interface to FSX, as everything nowadays uses USB2 or 3.

  2. Hi Pete: Alan has one USB device hooked to X & Y yoke axes, but as we went along it became plain that all other connectivity was either direct serial, or USB through one of the mickey-mouse serial-usb converters (which don't work).

He's building up what will be a fairly complex airliner-style flight deck ( not there yet), and some of our time was spent moving from the pretty "Windows 7 for Dummies" interface over to an XP-style interface, where he could access the .ini, fsx.cfg and the standard.xml files, etc. The serial/USB issues only cropped up after we successfully recognised the USB X & Y axes and then ploughed into a serial rudder and throttle. There's a second controller setup (for heli's) that we looked at, but it has a "converter" on it, and, although lots of "in-out" activity - it wouldn't work either, so we abandoned the endeavour altogether, and Alan is now waiting for his new GoFlight unit to arrive. We did, however cover the processes of profile creation, axes input and calibration, and buttons/swithes inputs, so he should be all set for when the new http://www.goflighti...-ultimate-pilot arrives.

I was pretty sure that serial interface was not supported, Pete, but whether FSX or FSUIPC - I wasn't sure - only remembering something about serial not working some eight years ago, but now being too old to go back that far.... :)

    Thanks,

    pj

  3. When you dble-click on the Install FSUIPC.exe installation file, it puts FSUIPC into the \FSX\Modules folder. It's where the .ini and .log both reside.

The xml info should be in the dll.xml file - C:\Users\(your_username)\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\

You can add this if it's missing.

    <Launch.Addon>

    <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name>

    <Disabled>False</Disabled>

    <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path>

    </Launch.Addon>

  4. Pete - I've been simming since '86, an IT (Solaris/True64) SysAdmin for darn' near fifteen years, same age as you, and I just had to pop in here and tell you just how much I appreciate your product and your dedicated and superbly patient support of it.

I've been a "do-it-your-selfer" for years, having built my own controllers and cockpit using a number of differing USB panels, and I can't think of a single more valuable addition to the sim that I have purchased, and you might chuckle, but prior to Jahman finally persuading me to "just run everything through FSUIPC" a few months back - I used stupid dos script after dos script to control just about everything that talked to the sim (still have one or two kicking around)... Now it's fully the reverse.. your product controls and calibrates everything. Unbelievable!!

    Thank You,

    All the very Best,

  5. Hi.

I am very upset at this point can anyone tell me why when I ask for support thru extream pc I get no response this was a real good application and support was great to is it me or did something happen that I dont know about . I have sent three to four requests to have my config repaired because of a multiple gpu entry issue but there has been no responce what gives?

    fly123

Well, HiFly; I am not part of this organization, but can give you an answer your issue. Don't sweat this issue - you can ignore it, or you can fix it - it doesn't matter. Any time there is a change to the gpu, and new one, a second one added, etc., - you will get an entry in the fsx.cfg file. FSX will read all of these and simply take the last one. If you want to be neat - just delete all the enties before the last one. Fixed!

  6. Hi,

Sorry for my delay. Just show your question. Yes I have the sdk in my hands but did not find time to read it. Do not worry. I will include the trackir support. Just need to find a time gap to my schedule

Thank you!! However - I might suggest you perhaps attach a greater priority to this compatibility issue.. I think there will be a large number of potential customers who are not going to buy this addon unless TrackIR compatibility is included - so the sooner you find a time gap - the greater your income will be and the sooner it will come.. and then we'll both be happy - right? ;)

  7. Hi,

We are currently working on it from yesterday. It will be available very very soon. - FSPS Support Team - 5/25/2011

Ok: thank you. Can you be a little more explicit, please? Does "very, very soon" mean two weeks: one month: two months? - pj 5/25/2011
    Days - FSPS Support Team - 5/25/2011
Yep we confirm that we are curently working the track it sdk to make the product compitable with it.

It will be available very soon. In the next updates. - FSPS Support Team - 5/27/2011]

We are waiting the sdk from trackir to mail it to us.. Then it will be a 5min (internal code) for us - FSPS Support Team - 5/27/2011

Well, Achilles my friend - that (partial) series of emails was a full month ago since the support group said it was working on it and would have the TIR compatibility fix within days of receiving the SDK from Natural Point.

As this was "5min (internal code) for us" can you tell us what progress has been made with respect to the receipt of that SDK, and when do you think would be a reasonable date for delivery of that fix?

    Many thanks,

  8. Hope you get it working with Track IR soon. I will buy when it is.

I have to say, Achilles - I'm impressed with the fixes, and with the rate of the fixes that your team is making. 1.3.5 at this moment, and though I'm not using it at this moment (I did buy it) I'm looking forward to using it with TIR. :)

Edit: same day and we're into 1.3.6!!!

  9. I have just installed this program & I haven't had time to look at it yet other than a quick run down the runway to check its working, I was wondering if there is a manual & if there are any settings to play with & also how to turn it off if I feel like not having it on.thanks.

Yes - there is a manual. Yes there are settings to play with. Yes the manual has instructions on how to enable or disable the application.

The manual is provided free to enable you to read up on how to use the program, so that you don't have to keep checking back on a forum to see if anyone has responded to the above questions....

  10. Imho that is not a valid point.

I disagree, Gerard: you could not have followed the TrackIR/EZCA discussions that have gone on for two years between the TIR users and EZCA and Natural Point. It's certainly not "a small group" at all. The number of "wouldn't fly without it" posts I have seen on Avsim and numerous other sites since it's inception are quite phenomenal, and for this company to not mention such an important point is a marketing blunder, given their existing "no refund" policy.

  11. I purchased 3D Real Cockpit and found out it doesn't work with TrackIR...

I think it would be more honest to emphasize this in the program system requirements.

Yes, I know, I could have read this forum before but since 80% of simmers use TrackIR I thought it was working for sure.

Yes, me too, Alberto. I am astounded that this is so, and quite frankly, pretty upset: you're correct - at least 60-80% of regular long-time simmers use TrackIR, and there is no mention of lack of TIR support anywhere in their advertisement; given the present use of TIR, one would naturally assume that it IS compatible. I understand from Achillies' statements above, that "we are working on this function", but my understanding is that TIR uses SimConnect to talk to FSX whereas RCE uses FSUIPC - so how are these two apps, using different application-level protocols going to interact with each other?. EZCA had enough problems when hooking their product with TIR. It was eventually successful, but took almost a year before it happened.

Can you comment further on this development, Achilles?

    Thanks,

  12. Your elevator trim is not set. Sorry - I don't know what aircraft you're talking about - I've just joined this forum, looking to purchase the DC-9, but this warning only results when the DC-9 - or the MD-80 - trim has not been set according to the C of G - which you will get as you complete your load sheet.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    pj
