Would be great if you have the time and passion to do that.
I have calibrated the TQs in the way Jeff says, but not with 100% success.
Throttle 1 and 2 (of the middle Thrust Throttles) are nearly similar at 50%
Throttle 3 is behind 50% in FS when the Throttle itself is at 50%
Throttle 4 is a little bit over 50%
It is ok for me.
But if there is a way to change this kind of behaviour one day so let me know, please ;-)
Thanks and good night
I would try adjusting the setting for top(IN) and bottom(OUT) for each axis making sure the top is not all the way at the top and the bottom is above the detente. I doubt it will be possible to get them exact at every point along the axis but a little bit of experimentation might produce better results.

Thanks Pete,
I think you have answered my questions.
BTW, what I meant by generic 4 engine jet is that this is the way I have set up my controls in FSUIPC. Right now every aircraft will load these settings until I create some profiles and customize things.

My user guide won't mention detentes like that because not many levers have any. But it does advise you to always set both the minimum and maximum positions AWAY from the end stops.
Ah yes, I do recall that now. Thanks again for the help.

Hello,
I just wanted to make sure I understand how the profiles feature works. Right now I don't use aircraft specific settings. I have things set up for a generic 4 engine jet. I would like to set up 2 engine jet, 3 engine jet, 1 engine prop, two engine prop and 4 engine prop.
1. Change .ini to enable profiles before starting FSX
2. load fsx with a 4 engine jet (generic 4 engine set up will automatically load)
3. Name the profile
4. Done - it will work with the aircraft that I just set it with
Now here are my questions:
When I load another aircraft, will it load the original generic 4 engine settings or will it load everything completely uncalibrated? I'd like to be able to use the generic settings as a template for the other profiles. I really don't want to have to re-calibrate everything for each profile.
Second, if I load an aircraft that does not have a profile, do I just go in to FSUIPC and choose the profile that I want to attach to that aircraft? After doing so, will that aircraft always be associated with that profile?
Thanks for the help. I just wanted to make sure I understood everything before I start creating a bunch of profiles.

Hello Pete,
Thanks for the information. Just to clear things up a bit, I am aware (as mentioned in my original post) that there will be variance between what each lever produces. In addition, I did do the axis calibration. It may not look like it but I did - spent a whole day playing with it in fact. I do thank you for prompting me to re-calibrate the thrust levers because I ended up calibrating them differently the second time around.
I believe that the Saitek TQ's must be calibrated the way I did it the second time. They can not be calibrated like CH TQ's because of the built in detente at the bottom. In FSUIPC, you can't set the bottom value at that detente, you have to set it just above the detente. Maybe it said something like this in the user guide about this but I didn't notice it. If you do it this way, the thrust levels will be more or less even (at least it worked that way on my hardware). Even if they are not on the first try, you can play with the bottom position a little to make adjustments. As you pointed out, it works a lot better than adjusting the slope. I can say that all of the top values remained the same on each axis.
Thanks for the help.

Hello Pete,
I am using the Saitek yoke and add on TQ. I have managed to get everything calibrated in FSX with FSUIPC 4.53 but I am having one problem that I can't figure out.
There are 6 axis levers. From left to right, they are assigned as the following:
First TQ (one that came w/yoke)
Spoilers (1z)
Throttle eng 1 (1u)
Throttle eng 2 (1v)
Add on TQ
Throttle eng 3 (0x)
Throttle eng 4 (0y)
Flaps (0z)
The problem is that I can't get the n1% to equalize between the eng1&2 and eng3&4. the thrust levels inputted by the levers and the different TQs varies by 10%-20%. Full thrust and idle are the same for both TQs. I tried adjusting the slope which equalizes the n1% when I advance the throttles 50% (physical axis position, not n1%) but at 25% and 75% things are still out of wack. If I make them equal at 25%, they are out of wack at the other positions. I can't find a way to make them equal at all positions. I don't mind if it is off by a small margin but 10-20% makes control difficult.
I understand that the slope isn't intended to udjust the throttle settings. Is there another setting that I should be looking at or do you have any ideas? If it is a hardware issue, it is a little late for me to return everything. Right now the only thing I can think of is mapping 1u and 1v to the other two engines and using 0x and 0y for something else.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide. I have provided the information from the .ini file just in case it is helpful.

FYI, I think I have it fixed. Although I think that it is strange that the inputs are different, I adjusted the idle positions and they seem to be operating properly.
Before, I made both idle settings the same. I went in and made the top idle slightly different from the bottom idle and it works now.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks Pete. I am sorry to be dense here but what am I looking for with joyview? Only two of my throttle levers seem to produce any sort of response. It does list 4 joysticks (Which I have CH pedals, Yoke, TC and a keyboard that is always listed as a joystick).
I am thinking that I may want to uninstall the drivers for both devices? Maybe start a little cleaner?

Oops. I replied to the wrong thread. Here is what I posted in the other Saitek thread. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the quick response.
Everything seems to be equal when I look at the throttles in the Saitek calibration software (not sst).
I understand that they will not be completely equal but they are really off. When I advance the throttles 1/2 way I get
E1-71% N1
E2-71% N1
E3-95% N1
E4-95% N1
I think the problem stems from the settings I have in the FSUIPC calibration page. I did achieve the "too perfect" values using that screen but the in/out values in the calibration page are really off. This is what I did for each engine. Advance throttle all the way - set max. Decrease throttle all the way, set reverse. Leave in the same position, set both idle. The reverse thrust will be mapped to the button activated by push the throttles in the red zone below idle which activates a button.
In the FSUIPC calibration page these are the in/out values I get when the throttles are advanced 1/2 way,
E1- -130/8127
E2- -130/8127
E3- 7676/12030
E4- 7418/11901
BTW, I did remove the slopes. I had a feeling I was on the wrong track with those. I also set all of the deltas back to 256.

Hello,
I am having trouble setting up my Saitek TC. I have the Yoke which came with a TC and a separate add on TC. The Yoke TC is attached to the yoke through a connector similar to a s-video input. The add on is connected to the pc through a USB connection. I did not plug it directly to the USB connections on the yoke. I'm not sure if this is relevant but I thought I would mention it.
There are a total of 6 axis on the TCs - each with 3. 1, 2 and 3 are on the 1st TC; 4, 5 and 6 are on the second. Here is how I have it set up.
1-Spoilers
2-Throttle 1
3-Throttle 2
4-Throttle 3
5-Throttle 4
6-Flaps
The problem is I can not get the inputs to match between the two TCs. Engines 1&2 match. Engines 3&4 match. I am getting a lot more thrust on one wing than the other. I have played with the slope a bit but I still can't seem to get it right. I think I am missing something and I am not even sure the slope is the issue. Here is my FSUIPC.ini joystick section.

Thanks in advance for you help. In addition, thank you Pete for all of your contributions to this hobby!

Sorry John, but please bear with me. I am a blonde afterall. So are you saying that ORD will not go down in price and all scenery ORD and newer will be 18.50 whether it is the newest release or not?
-
I'm not trying to rush you but I would like to purchase ORD but I am not going to until it goes down in price. Will it be going down in price?
Thanks,
Jeff

Here is the response from simmarket
"The prices or lowering them is a decision of the developers, we don't have any information about this for now.
best regards"

Hello,
Simmarket still lists ORD at 18.50. Shouldn't it be 16.50 now?
Thanks for the great scenery!

That is great to hear Richie and Alexander. I know you will give DTW the respect it deserves. Glad to see the project is back on track.
-
It looked like the individual that started the project was really in to it; however, they couldn't get enough people to work on it with design experience.
Being from Detroit, it used to suck knowing that our airport was considered one of the worst in the world. Now it is one of the best. The new terminal is really nice. If you are ever at DTW for a few hours, take a few moments to go to National's and get some eggs or a coney dog (Detroit style chili dog). National Coney Island is a small local chain of diner type resturaunts and there is one in the airport. You can get a nice seat by the window while you eat. You might be a little gassy on your flight though.
-
I know that in many of the discussions about airport requests that there was a freeware KDTW being produced. Because a DTW was being produced, it was not considered as a Simflyer's candidate. Well, if I am speaking about the same project, the freeware DTW project has been scraped.
http://www.flightsimmer.com/forums/showeadid=7697
Considering that there is not a DTW in the works, is it possible that the wonderful, talented, kind souls at Simflyers will add DTW to their long list of airports? It would pair up nicely with KMSP. I have some pictures but it is easier to take pictures once I know what is needed. Also, iwould consider taking more pictures once the terror alert level goes down. Unfortunatly, however, I do not have access to non-public areas.
Thanks,
Jeff

It seems to me that there are some GA statics in the KLAS scenery that are included in the no-static scenery. I have all sliders 100% and no statics anywhere except in that north(?) parking area. Please let me know what BGL they are in so I can remove them. I do not have the BGL listed above. The name of the textures would also be helpful because I might want to keep th dc-10's
Not sure what I need to change for turboprop w/Saitek TQ
in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Posted
Hello Pete,
I am not sure what I need to change to get my Saitek TQ working with turboprops. Right now it is set up for jets. The entire axis is calibrated for thrust. When I move the lever below to activate reverse, it is mapped to a butting. This works well.
With the Aerosoft Twin Otter and Lionheat Kodiak (and I assume others), the minimum for the axis goes in to reverse thrust using the above calibration. I want the minimum to be idle and revers only activated when I move the lever in to the red zone.
I can figure out how to do what I need to do using the manual but I am not sure what I need to to do.
Could you please offer some quick direction?
Thanks.
