Hi Pete and everyone else. Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago. I understand that you are out till April 12th. I have been meaning to ask this for a long time. Would you consider writing a program using widefs that would allow me to add more undocked panels to my homemade cockpit ?
I have a captain's side 737/ generic homemade scratch built pit and I undock panels to different monitors in the flight deck. This allows me to fly more than one airplanne. I would like to add more panels / monitors using the video card in my client computer. There is a four monitor limit on the desktop side. Maybe its the limit on the flight simulator, I'm not sure about that but I would buy a program from you that will enable me to put my aft overhead and radio panels in permanently.
May God bless you and yours. Thank you for your great work.
Michael

Thanks Pete, it's working

Hi Pete,
I've looked through some pages on the forum where this was asked and I read the section in the advanced fsuipc manual.
I want to ask you though for a simple laymans step by step to assign a push to talk button from my stick to squawkbox 4
running on a client computer running registered widefs and a working simconnect ........... or a link for same.
Thanks for support
-
Thanks Pete
When you install it doesn't it ask?
I really don't know anything about FSMap, but I think it is by Thomas Molitor, who is very good and will help you if you go to the right support area. Why not use it with SimConnect over your network I run a mixture of SimConnect and WideFS programs over mine, plus some which have their own networking like AES Remote, SuperTrafficBoard and Aivlasoft's EFB.
Yes, I believe it is. I think you have to install it on both machines. how it is all done I don't know, but i'm pretty sure it is all covered in its documentation.
It always will. The window isn't used for anything. Either narrow it to a title bar only, or set it to minimise or hide (INI options).
No. You are really looking at this the wrong way round. Decide what you want to do, then find the most suitable package for that. There's nothing wrong with SimConnect over a network, so it doesn't have to necessarily be a WideFS/FSUIPC solution.
Regards
Pete

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the quick reply. I actually bought widefs to run those 2 programs from my laptop. I guess some homework would have been in order. How do I trick fsmap into thinking it was running with fs2004 ? I guess I'll need to try some other software. Do you know if its possible to run squawkbox from my laptop and how ? I want to seperate the sound.
Yes, the wideclient title bar is showing an empty window. Do you have a list of software that works with widefs ?
Thanks Pete

Hi Pete,
You answered some questions for me some time ago about getting two or three functions
to work with one keypress. I think I'm pretty intelligent but code makes me a little dizzy, perhaps because I never
learnt it. So I'd like to share something that I stumbled upon by accident. If it's common knowledge I 'm sorry for
reposting it. In the main fsuipc4 menu I used a mouse macro and assigned it to a button. lets say .... lower icas on lvld767 to A4, then I assigned a mouse macro to lvld set speed bugs and also assigned that to A4. Now
both macros come on with A4. Hope it helps someone. Now to my current questions.
I have registered versions of fsuipc4 and widefs7. When I load fsx I get the message over the top menu bar "fsx with wideserver looking for clients.. When I go on my laptop connected via tcp and router link up the menu says 1 connected. Wideclient says connected. The wideclient page is completely empty inside. Thats good so far right ?
Anyway I'm trying to run squawkbox4 from the laptop and its asking for the fsx exe on the laptop. I dont think its seeing wideclient at ball. Fsmap also does not work.
You must get tired of answering the same questions over and over but am I doing something wrong. They are on the same " NYS FSX " workgroup and can ping each other with no probs. I tried putting run1=and the path to the fsmap.exe
but that did not work. Can you help please ? I will try to send the server ini and log files from my desktop after this.
Thank You Pete

Thanks very much Peter, I will try it and let you know
I'm not sure what you mean by "the buttons won't work" (they will be doing whatever they are programmed to do), but the notice of multiple entries simply means that you've been editing the INI file to program multiple actions on the one button or switch, and so it cannot be edited in the dialogue. To stop things becoming too complicated on screen for the 99% majority of users and uses, it is only capable of assigning one action on press and one on release. But FSUIPC does support a whole sequence of actions, even with conditional tests, on any button or switch. This more complex use can only be done by editing the INI file, in accordance with the details in the FSUIPC Advanced User's Guide.
If you are using joystick lettering, and so have a joystick "C", then button 24 on it will be C,24. The lines in the [buttons] section handling it will contain 'C,24'. probably after a P (Press), R (Repeat) or U (Up, or release). If it is in a conditional it will also have a C in front of the P or whatever. But just search for C,24.
Buttons programmed for a specific aircraft or Profile will override any general programming (in the main [buttons] section), but if you delete them the general assignments will then prevail.
Also, after deleting or editing the INI file, if you are doing this with FS still running, you need to go into the Buttons tab of FSUIPC options and clieck the Reload button there, so it loads the changes. Otherwise the ones it loaded previously will still be operational, and will later overwrite your INI changes.
You mean as a sequence? Yes, you can, in the INI file. You'd need to refer to the format for the Button entries in the INI file, and the values for the keypresses. For 3 keystrokes it is 3 lines in the INI. They are obeyed in the order of the line numbers (the numbers before the =).
Yes, for most things. Check that the joystick number or lettering works the same -- FSUIPC3 uses a different Windows method for joysticks and some axes may have different letters. X and Y are always the same though. And some of the options in the [General] section may be different or not apply, so afterwards just check through your settings in the varuious Option tabs.
Regards
Pete

Hi Peter,
I love the program, its giving me great joy withy my 3 desktopaviator boards and ch products suite.
On a few switches, I get the notice that there are multiple entries and the buttons won't work. It says to edit the ini. file.
1. How do I find the problem ? The switches don't seem to be labled the same way in the ini. so I can't find C24 for example.
I have a few to fix and am confused when I go into the ini file. I tried erasing the lvld entries but the keep coming back. help !!!
2. Can I assign for example "ctl b, d, shf j " on one button press as I could have with ch manager ?
3. Can I copy a fsx fsuipc ini into the fs2004 module folder fsuipc and have it work ?
Great program
Thanks
Fsuipc 4.971 is not reloading buttons
in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules

Hi Pete,
Happy belated. I simply can't fly without fsuipc. I recently upgraded to 4.971 and now none of my profiles and buttons work.
The correct ini is in the modules folder. Pressing "reload buttons" does not help at all. I have literally spent days setting up my fsuipc files because I have a home made walk in captain's side flight deck. I'm hoping I messed up and its an easy fix.
