  1. Hello Pete. I hope your holidays were to remember. Welcome back.

I run LM Prepar3D version 2.4. I have the latest installer modules as a registered user. UpdatedByVersion=4938a

FSUIPC works fine, aside from a bug that is annoying me. It has done this in previous versions of P3D also.

When I want to change FSUIPC settings, I select the add-ons tab/FSUIPC. The first time the actions go smoothly. At times even the second attempt work.

In most cases I have to minimize P3D and bring it back up again to get the Add-Ons/FSUIPC tab "click-able"

I wonder if this has been mentioned or looked into by you, or if what's happening is a LM issue?

    Don

  2. Thanks. And it does show, as I surmised, that your registry cleaner did NOT clear the reference to the FSX Install location, which is why the Installer still had the same problem after you thought you had deleted everything FSX:

So, you will either need to delete that entry, or wait for me to release the 4.921b installer some time tomorrow.

Actually, I would recommend you delete the entry in any case as otherwise it will certainly mislead other installers in the future.

    Regards

    Pete

The latter of the two you have quoted is the one I went in searching for prior to posting it for you.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0

I see nothing there in the path it states that it's in so it can be deleted.

Now, in the Start Menu, / All Programs / Microsoft Games folder, there is a folder; Microsoft / Microsoft Flight Simulator X / Flight Simulator X SDK. Of which I'm not sure I can remove due to needing it for Gmax modeling. I'm hesitant.

  3. It took some doing, but here it is.

  5. For process of elimination I deleted the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder entirely, and cleaned the registry using CCleaner. Then ran the v4.92 install.

There is no FSUIPC4.KEY file to be found in the Modules or Documents folders of Prepar3D. As a test to see if it was solely related to the v4.92 release, I tried v4.91 and v4.90. Deleting the Modules folder entirely. And still the key file is not there.

  6. Hi Pete.

    Sorry for the run around.

Inside the Documents folder there is no FSUIPC4.KEY file. When I input my info it's accepted as 'registered'. In Prepar3D it is not. This is a situation I've never had with prior releases.

Concerning the 'fake' FSX.exe, and the relative registry linking as genuine, it was the registry tool I used for when the developers installer did not have a Prepar3D install option, I could install to the dummy folder and copy the folders over. I don't know any other way.

  7. About 10 months ago I decided it was time to learn to model using Gmax. Considering I use LM Prepar3D (and not FSX) I still needed the FSX SDK installed. The SDK would not install. No path found for the FSX.EXE. So, I created a path with a dummy folder and copy of the Prepar3D.exe, renamed to FSX.EXE. By doing this I was able to get the FSX SDK to install, and the Gmax modeling program configured and operational. I've had no trouble since. Until now that is.

As far as FSUIPC goes, the install is looking for the actual FSX.EXE which is not there as you see.

FSUIPC did install in the P3D/Modules folder, and is in the addons menu. But it is not registered. It should be. This is my problem. I've reinstalled several times to no avail.

  8. Hello Mr. Dowson.

I had to uninstall/re-install LM Prepar3D v1.4 due to my own experiments concerning shaders, and not backing things up prior. The Prepar3D install would not repair itself via the option it provided. So, a fresh install was needed.

    Please note;

FSX is not installed, although I do have a dummy folder for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, with the FSX.exe residing for add-ons that do not have LM Prepar3D as an installation option.

I also do modeling in Gmax, so the FSX SDK is installed.

Upon reinstallation of FSUIPC v4.92 I'm experiencing theses errors.

I'm at a bit of a loss of what to do. I've cleaned the registry using CCleaner, and re-installed/went through the registration process several times without luck.

    I'm hoping you can help

  9. Well Pete, (laughing because I'm frustrated) all was well for a short period of time. All controllers were disabled (including the mouse) and settings removed for everything inside FSX. FSUIPC was doing the intended job most excellently. Then I had to go cook dinner. I shut down FSX, did my duties and came back. When I started FSX, all the default settings had returned. I'm lost for thought and shutting down for the evening. I had enough frustration for the day.

I'll check back later. Maybe you've got an idea or two.

  10. Alright, now I'm following your meaning. Hmm, I never tried disabling the controllers like that. They always worked fine prior to this instance. Will ALL FSX commands still be available through FSUIPC? The reason I inquire, is there are several buttons that I had programmed through FSX via the flight sticks. If your suggestion does all buttons, I'm all for it!

I will use (in the manual) pages 57-61 to get all the basics, and then go (learn) from there. The only one that's confusing at this point, is the hat/pan on the joystick itself. My goal is a smooth pan rate while in both interior and exterior views.

  11. Mr. Dowson,

I am at a point I don't know what to do to alleviate what's been going on. I don't think this has to do with your software, but I am lost for sources to get answers. I'm hoping you can help.

    Hardware

    Logitech G940 Flight system

    Symptoms

FSX controller settings reset to default no matter what I try.

After installing FSUIPC, I start FSX and go into the control settings. I deleted all the axis and button assignments for the joystick, pedals and throttle. I chose an aircraft to fly, opened FSUIPC and ran through the buttons, axis and other settings through that. All works great as planned. After a flight I shut down FSX like any other time previously. Later when I load FSX, all the default controller & button settings have been reset? Once again, I go through and delete all of them. FSUIPC still works as configured. This symptom happens every time and I don't know how to resolve it. I've searched forums, Google, asked others that have the same flight sticks, and no one has had this trouble that can help. I'm hoping you may be able to.

If any other information is needed, please ask

  12. If I understand you right, I need to set the numbers low to high, to calibrate the amount of deflection input by the pedals. Something I don't think I have done. Didn't think about to be honest.

Thanks for the response. I'll investigate further, and have a look at the logitech forums also. Hopefully it's not a driver or registry issue, and I can get it sorted.

My searching here didn't come up with much related to the Logitech G940 system

  13. Hello Mr. Dowson

I bought the Logitech G940 Flight Control System not too long ago, and used settings strictly within FSX. While it worked OK, many control options wound up being cumbersome to configure. Even when I got the settings somewhat figured out, I ended up having to reinstall FSX, only to have forgotten to save my FSX config file, then I was back at square one of having to remember how I had it set up. I'm using version FSUIPC4, Version 4.728b, running FSX with service pack 2 and acceleration. I have been trying to sort issues with the rudder and the throw sensitivity.

Having to fumble through the settings of FSX, disabling within so they don't cause conflicts between the G940 settings, FSX settings, and FSUIPC, I managed to get everything set-up and working as I need without too many headaches. Well, actually, it was a real big headache. I don't know how many times I closed FSX out of frustration.

Here's my trouble. All my control surfaces work fine, except an issue I'm having with the rudder. The rudder works, although I've a feeling there are settings somewhere that I'm not finding to eliminate my symptoms. The G940 rudder pedals (all rudder pedals for the sim) have a lot of distance for movement (left, right), but my issue is that when I move the pedals in either direction, the rudder is moving to full deflection in a short amount of throw (movement) of the pedals. I have tried changing the curve setting within FSUIPC, but that doesn't seem to help.

I know I have to be missing something. Some setting that slows the curve speed of rudder deflection.

I hope I make some sense in my explanation.
