  1. I opened (attempted) FSX after several differnt flights. These were all done today with no other configuration of FSUIPC. My Saitek contollers (yoke, peddals and two quadrants were working great) Now I get the following popup and am at a loss to explain, I cannot attach it for some reason but to paraphrase:

"Flight Simulator has detected a problem with a third-party software program (add-on)"

It goes on to name the FSUIOC4 DLL and does not recommend using and to uninstall. Again I am at a loss because everything was fine just minutes before. I have restarted my computer and tried FSX again but the problem persists.

  2. Actually, with the setting "ShortAircraftNameOk=Substring", they don't need to actually begin with the characters provided, they will match anywhere within the name.

Sorry, i din't think i was "talking down" in any way whatsoever. I try my utmost to help everyone who comes here for help, whether they purchased anything or not. You can surely see that if you browse a little here. I think you are being very unfair, especially when I go out of my way to help 7 days a week at almost any hour. I don't think you'll find many other products supported as well.

    Pete

I aplogize for being short and unfair. Over the past few weeks I have spent several hundres of dollars on aircraft and all of the new addons such as FS2CREW, FSCommander etc etc, and spent more time configuring and very little time flying. Just frustrated I guess.

So with this setting: ShortAircraftNameOk=Substring and this profile: [Profile.PMDG737]

    1=Boeing 737

I though that all versions from the 600 through 900 would use the settings. I will have to check the 600 and 700 to see how they list out.

  3. Look at the aircraft you have listed for your "PMDG737" profile:

The "PMDG737 aircraft might not match ANY of them if they all have a space after PMDG, ad the only other one you've added is the House Winglets 800.

You either need to select the profile for each variation as you load it (it will be added to the above list so you only need to do it once for each), or simply make a short version of it in that list which matches them all, such as "PMDG 737". Either weay it isn't hard nor a lot of work. You seem to expect FSUIPC to guess?

    Pete

No sir I don't expect anything. I started out by creating a profiled named PMDG737 while I had the PMDG 737-800NGX PMDG House Winglets loaded and created all of the button and axis settings. I wrongly assumed that the aircraft all began with PMDG. I see now that they all begin with "Boeing" and that now I modified the .ini to a simple "Boeing 737" (without the qoutes) all of my PMDG 800 and 900 aircraft load with that profile. Please do not talk down to me, I make every attemp to resolve an issue before posting, however I thought that purchasing and registering would provide me with a certain amount of support.

  4. You've still got something wrong then. The profile box should already be ticked and the Profile name showing in the options title bar. That's what it's all about.

Make sure you are running version 4.80, and show me the INI file as ou now have it.

    Pete

Here you go Pete, must say that once loaded your product loads like a dream.. love it.

  5. Until today FSC has worked ok, now while I am at LAX and trying to connect to FSX I get "No GPS-Data from FS available! Communication to Flight Simulatore terminated." I have the plan loaded an d visible on the map. My aircraft is at the correct airport.... ideas??

    Thanks

  6. Below is the .ini for my PMDG 737 (Started with house colors). When I start FSX and select any PMDG 737 I have no control or axis or buttons. I use the dropdown and open fsuipc and select the button tab click the profile box select my profile name and click ok. Now I have control of the house color 737. If I use any other liveries I have nothing again. Following the above steps I get axis control but none of my buttons.

Number one should I have to go through this each time I launch FSX or shouldn't the controls be active. I am sure it must be something that I am doing wrong, just can't figure it out.

  7. The correct parameter, which is actually the default setting in all recent versions of FSUIPC, is "ShortAircraftnameOk=Substring". If you have started with a freash install, no INI, you do not need to change anything, it is already correct.

Show me your INI file and I'll tell you.

    Pete

I bet I have Subscript, I was working on a word document and it probably stuck in my head. I will send the .ini later today.

    Thanks

  8. Re-installing FSUIPC never does anything, unless you are updating to a later version. All your settings are in the INI file, not in the Installable part at all.

It sounds simply that you had dual assignments. Maybe you are assigning in FSUIPC and forgot to disable controllers in FS? Without know what you are doing I couldn't say. In any case you do not have to assign in FSUIPC in order to calibrate in FSUIPC, so if you are so assigning, why? What do you want to achieve? Different axis assignments for different aircraft, maybe?

Sorry, with no information I can't help much, can I? If you've got everything in a right mess, start again -- NOT be reinstalling FSUIPC, which achieves nothing, but by deleting the INI file before loading FS.

Then, yes, calibrate by following the numbered steps. Don't just read the manual over and over, follow the steps as you are doing them. That's why they are there.

There's no such thing as "assigning to a Z axis". If one of your axes is Z you assign IT to something else, not the other way around.

Why not forget about FSUIPC assignments intially, and just let FS assign everything and then do the calibration in FSUIPC? Start simpler, don't confuse yourself so much! And start with a default aircraft, NEVER with a complex add-on. That just makes it harder.

I have everything back and a copy saved off, but have to minor issues. I have the profile set to PMDG737 and have short name to Subscript (maybe that is wrong) because loading a different livery did not load all of my button settings. Second throttle one requires a lot more movement to catch up to throttle 2. I am sure this is something I am doing wrong in calibration just not sure what that is.

    Thanks

  9. I must be the dumbest user ever. I was all set up with Saitek yoke, peddals and two quadrants. I flew several flights ok and then it seemed that moving the spoilers also caused the ailerons to move so I figured I was having axis issue. I tried to re calibrate and now I am unable to assign axis or calibrate. I have went as far as to remove and reinstall FSUIPC. When I assign the aileron axis and calibrate and then check the movement I see that the yoke barely moves left and right and not at all do I see movement on the wings. I only use PMDG aircraft, I have the control disabled in FSX and I was able to calibrate just fine once before. Please don't tell me to read the manual because I have done this until my eyes are crossed and I still can't get calibrated back to where I had it. When calibrating the quadrants I can't get all four throttles to assign to a Z axis so I just use what ever comes up when moving the lever but then they don't seem to calibrate properly. This not a flame post but I am totally confused as to why I can't recallibrate any longer.

  10. With default aircraft the throttles should be ignored when the A/T is engaged. What aircraft are you using? It will make a difference. Some use the same controls as your throttles to operate autothrottle, so you'd be interfering.

I assume posting here you imply you are using FSUIPC3 (FS9 or learlier?) or FSUIPC4 (FSX or P3D?), for calibration, or even assignment. But you give precious little information so I really don't know how to advise further.

Sorry Pete, I am using the latest fsuipc with fsx and pmdg. I had everything configured for the 737ngx and the last time I logged in the profile was not working. Probably something I did but don't know what. Anyway I setup the profile again and that is wen I experienced the issue reported. I have the fsx controls disabled and use fsuipc to calibrate the Saitek Yoke, rudders and two quadrants. Sorry to be a pain...

  11. I had to reconfigure my profile after getting a second quadrant. I must have done something different this time but can't seem to fix it. In the past when I had the auto throttle engaged I could move my throttle handles to match the N1 levels as set by th A/T. now if I move them the N1 drops as much as I move the throttles. In other words if the A/T is holding at 80% N1 with my levers at the top, if I try to pull back the throttles to match the 80% the N! drops as I move meaning the only time they would be equal is at idle. Ideas???

    Thanks

  12. FSUIPC itself cannot identify the crucial defining part of an aircraft name, it just has to use whatever it is given. However, you can make life much easier for yourself. All you need to do is check that "ShortAircraftNameOk=substring" is set in the [General] section of the INI file, then, in each of your [Profile.<name>] sections shorten the aircraft name to whatever identifies it sufficently. For example, is all 737's should have the same Profile, set the name in the list to 737. Remove, then, any unnecessary duplicates.

Sorry, but there is no way FSUIPC can do such things automatically. The name of an aircraft is just an arbitrary string. Only you can determine which parts really matter.

    Pete

Thank you sir, will do... done and successful.

  13. I did not do anything manually, but having checked the INI I do see that is very specific, it looks like I will have to do this with every livery before they all we be uincluded. I just tried an Aloha 737-8 and there was no control and it wasn't in the INI but the base 737-800 was. So I switched to an aircraft that was in the INI and I had all of my settings. that it was type dependent but I see it is type and livery. No biggie, now that I know what to do it only takes a second to fix.

  14. I have a profile set for my PMDG 737 but everytime I start FSX or change Aircraft I have to go into the dropdown select fsuipc, click on the buttons tab and check the profile box and select my profile. I don't actually have to make a button change just check and select. What am I doing wrong, I am using profiles because I am adding another quadrant and profile the 747's with four throttles.

    Thanks

  15. Eureka!!! After many atempts I finally programed the incremental flaps settings on the quadrant. I can only tell you how it worked for me, not sure if it is repeatable for all. I made a tape on the right side of the flap lever, far right for me, and evenly spread out and marked the flap seetings on the tape. Then I followed very carefully the steps in the manual with one exception, before calibrating I checked REV.

  16. I don't think you are reading the user documentation at all, are you? That sort of thing often happens with jittery controls. All you need to do is click the Ignore button for the axis you don't want to see, then ReScan. That's why there's an Ignore button! Pressing ReScan by itself doesn't do any good if the same axis is continually sending changes!

No, only with the documents. Maybe you forgot about them? They are all in the Modules \ FSUIPC Documents folder, as you are told in the Installation and Registration guide.

    Pete

I actually printed them out, but you are right I forgot about the ignore part. It was a long day yesterday but I do appreciate your help!!

  17. Thanks for the rely on the HAT (POV). I still have problems with the toe brakes though. No matter how many times I do a rescan after tapping the toe brakes it shows up as an axis that I have assigned for the ailerons or elevators. The one time I was semi successful resulted in the "differential braking" message being left on. The only way to clear was to set the parking brake and release with a button I programed for brakes. I am sure that this is my unfamilararity with the program.
