  1. I agree. I thought there would be a lot of repaints by now too. I also thought I read somewhere that Lago was going to release a paint kit. A paint kit would make it so much easier to repaint these beauties....

I might be wrong, but a few more paint jobs would be terrific and I think loads of people would appreciate them....

  2. I am sorry to hear about the piracy going on. It angers me off to hear of such things. It is for this very reason that things keep getting more and more expensive. It is just like a retail store. The individuals that go into a retail store a shop lift an item causes the store to increase their prices, because they don't want to take a loss. I understand that this is the price of business. There is a market for your products and well worth the prices you charge. No, I do not want to see your prices increase because of idiots in this world. Granted though you are a business, and to stay in business you cannot give your products away for free.

When cases like this take place it is not only the business that gets hurt, but the customers do also. The ball always rolls down hill, and it is the customer that is at the bottom. It is this way in all businesses.

Keep up the great work Lago, your products are worth while, and every penny.

  3. Has anyone done any repaints of the Lago Twin Otter?

If so would you be willing to post them somewhere for download, or if you have posted them, please let me know where I would be able to view them? For that matter, I bet there would be a lot of people willing to view them for download.

    Thank you.....

    The Otter works great Lago!

  4. I have tried to use AFCAD to get 4R open and when I do that it closes the other runways. Basically I have tried to create an overlay to Honolulu. I have created many overlays for other airports. However, I have been unsuccessful as far as Honolulu is concerned. So if I want to use rwy 4R or L I follow atc instructions, but side step around to position myself for the runway I want to use. I know this is not very realistic, but it is so far the best way to use all the runways. As far as approaches for 26L&R I do the contact tower thing and just land using them, as long as no one is on the runway.

Maybe an overlay patch will be created for Honolulu and we can use the other runways... Untill, then I am still enjoying the scenery, it is amazingly accurate and nice to look at.

  5. virtuali,

Thank you for the reply. My mind is now at ease. I didn't think that it was the scenery program... I find it a great airport to fly in and out of. I will research out a new afcad and give it a go to open up the shorter runways for smaller traffic. I do, however, like the fact that 8R is for departures and 8L is for arrivals. That is pretty cool.... Anyway, thank you for the tips, it is most appreciated....

  6. I thought I was wrong!

    Thank you for the correction.

The engines on the Twin Otter are turboprops, not reciprocating engines. There is no such thing as a "mixture" control on a turbine engine. The two levers erroneously identified as mixture levers in the manual are actually condition levers, which should have three positions...idle/cutoff (all the way back, kills the engine), ground idle (a slower prop speed used for ground/taxi ops, and flight/max increase (normal mode for flight).

Why then is it that when I pull the prop levers back the engine rpms sound like they increase? Isn't it pulled back to be feathered? Then why is there a mixture control if there should not be one on a turboprop?

  7. It is all a matter of personal preference. When version 1 of the otter came out, I found it to work rather well. Yeah there was some goofy thing about it, but they seemed pretty slight to me. What can you expect, when you go in expecting nothing? I found the patch and one edit to fix a great portion of things. It seems that a great portion of people have found the same thing. I am sorry to say, but you maybe out of luck here. I wish you the best, but I don't think LAGO can offer a refund when there is so much support available, not to mention those of us that spend a lot of time using the products and reporting our findings and fixes on the forum.

Just because a computer runs some software with no problem, doesn't mean it will run other software with no problem.

  8. I would like to know of some challenging Twin Otter destinations. Where do people take their TWOtter the most?

I have spent a lot of time in the NW Cascades going in and out of places like Ranger Creek, Tieton, Yakima, etc. Just looking for some challenging approaches and takeoffs. I might post screen shots later....

  9. Why is one needed?

I am quite confident that all of the fixings have been taken care of by the patch, plus all of the postings on the forum. I think a lot of problems people are having are hardware related. For example, certain graphics cards render 3D different than others..... I may be off base, but I don't think I am too far off.....

  10. This aircraft like all aircraft need to be leaned. When you fly with the throttle, prop and mixture full open, you are going to burn fuel like it was free. Once you climb to altitude, bring back the throttle a bit and the prop also. Look at the manual for exact numbers for cruise altitude and speed.

Once I started doing this my performance went up.

This system works well for all planes. Rember if you lean the mixture for your cruise altitude, don't forget make it rich when you desend for your destination. Or your engine will quit....

  11. For some reason, no mater what the wind direction, my version of Honolulu will only use RWY 8R for departure and 8L for arrival. Would someone be able to tell me why this is? I thought I saw it advertised that you could fly the 26 approaches. I think the scenery is absolutly beautiful, and I would like to be able to take advantage of as much of it as I can.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate any help that you may give....

    Keep up the good work.

  12. I tried to use AFCAD to add another runway to use with LAGO's Honolulu scenery. AFCAD kept erroring out on me when I went to import the airport file. Is there a way to add a second runway, or is there some LAGO programing that I cannot get past? Thank you for the information. I really enjoy the scenery, It is the best I have ever scene next to the GeoRender scenery. I thought it would be cool to have 2 operational runways.

    Thank you...

  13. Half a million? I could fart half a million, where do I get my own life size TWotter?

Until I receive my very own life size TWotter, I guess I will have to settle for the Lago version. Which may I say," is one of the best payware aircraft out there." I loaded V1.0 with no problems. A few cosmetic issues and no flaperons, but still, a fun aircraft. Once I loaded the patch I would say that it is a 95% pure joy to fly. Sure there maybe some issues, I can't find them yet, but over the weekend, the only plane I have taken out of the hanger is the TWotter. What other plane in FS2002 can you take 20 people into a 1000 foot strip?

What would make this plane better, more liveries?

  14. If you have FS2002 pro open the aircraft file in the aircraft editor. You should be able to edit the aircraft file if you don't have the editor. Under the gear, change the front wheels (ones without brakes) and adjust the turning radius to 25-45 degrees. What ever gets your Otter around the best.... This way you don't have to use the differential thrust, etc....

  15. This is a perfect example of the have and have nots. Fortunatly I am a have! There has got to be some underlying issues with people demanding their money back over a trim issue. For example their computer may not be able to handle the aircraft due to configuration, or maybe something else. The Twin Otter is a great product. And the beautiful part about FS2002 is you can edit the aircraft to fit your wishes. Lago ripped no one off, it is a matter of buyer beware. They created a product in good conscience and it is sad to say that not everyone is going to have the same experience. It is the same for MS, Lago, or any other software manufacture. But with positive feed back and not random rants of madness, things will get ironed out.

Good job, Lago. Love the TWOtter. Can't wait to see more liveries from those that have.....

  16. For those that need to be able to steer on the ground and cannot handle differential braking and thrust. If you have FS2002 pro, open the amphib in the aircraft editor and under gear adjust the turning radius from 0 to what ever radius you want for the front wheels. These are the ones not labled as brakes.
