  1. Hi Guys,

One of the main things missing from most overheads is a functioning electric metering panel and a working FLT/ALT display (I'm referring to the 737NG overhead ). After seeing the new radios you are now offering it occurred to me that the essential elements are already there for those displays in the components you built. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about offering a metering panel display and a flt/alt display with control knobs? Right now there is no ready made solution available anywhere. If not that is something not worthy of consideration do you have any suggestions as to how I might solve the problem myself? Thanks!

    Chris

  2. Hi guys,

Rather than refer each of us to PM Support wouldn't it make sense for you to work directly with them to resolve the overhead gage calibration issue for everyone?

From what I can tell (based on no response to several inquiries in this forum) there is no reliable method of calibrating the gages with the software since the FI gages interface does not interface directly with PM systems.

My sense is that this is something that needs to go on your "to do" list. :-)

    Looking forward to a solution!

    Thanks,

    Chris

  3. Thanks for the reply,

I found the post where you describe the general process for running the overhead gages, but I have two issues that need to be resolved.

First, everytime I run the PMSystems software it polls for all of the gages. I have cables to run three of them at the moment and they appear to be recognized and function, but not until after the software polls every possible ID. This occurs each time I launch PMsystems despite the fact that I modified the text file per the instructions. How do I stop this from happening? (I am using the most recent version)

The other issue relates to calibration. Since you don't use the flightillusion software, how do you calibrate from within PMsystems? My differential pressure gage is off, but the same question applies to the othe gages as well.

As mentioned in one of the other posts, it would be good to have this process documented as a part of the Flightillusion instructions .PDF. I would be happy to help you put this together once all the steps for operation and calibration are made clear.

As ever, thanks in advance for your kind assistance!

    Sincerely,

    Chris

  4. Guys,

The new website looks great, but when you try to download the latest version of the simulator gage control software the link doesn't work.

I am using an older 4.4 version and can't find the functions for the overhead gages listed anywhere in the configuration section of the software. Can you please tell me where to find them?

Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Chris

  5. After getting over the initial install hurdle with FSX everything appears to be functioning properly with FSUIPC and WIDEFS in single player mode. When operating in single player mode I have had trouble free operation of Gpsout (used to drive a Garmin GPSMAP 396) and no problem connecting via network to all of my Project Magenta programs. However, when I attempt to operate in the multiplayer mode two issues occur 1) the GPS no longer receives data, and 2) data is no longer passed from FSX to the project magenta software via WIDESERVER (instrument panels don't function). The WIDESERVER icon on the remote computer reads "connected" but no data is being fed to the programs. No idea where to begin to troubleshoot a problem like this. I have replicated this problem twice now and it only occurs when operating in multiplayer mode.

I just read a similar post related to Gpsout where two people experienced at least part of the problem with respect to Gpsout, and you replied that there is some kind of bug with "sim-connect". You discussed a work-around, but I'm afraid that I don't understand what that workaround is or how to do it. Could you explain to me what steps I should take to get around this issue until the day in the distant future when FSX gets a patch?

    Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Chris

  6. Hello,

I am writing to discover the status of my order. I received a partial shipment from you along with a letter from Mark Verschaeren dated 1 June 2006. In that letter it was noted that the duct pressure gauge was delayed in production. I also have placed and paid for three additional items as follows: Attitude Indicator (as part of the three gauges for the 737), Boeing Clock, and two of the power cables for the interface cards. To simplify this list is as follows:

    1) Duct Pressure Gage

    2) Attitude Inticator

    3) Boeing Clock

    4) Power cable (X2) for interface card

I will continue to be patient because I understand that you are trying to make sure you get out a good product, but an update would be appreciated. Please let me know when you expect to ship these items. Thanks!

    Sincerely,

    Chris Jung

  7. Hey! Glad to hear that you are back and busy as usual. The idea about using one of your gauges to drive a trim indicator came from an email exchange I had with the cockpitsonic guys. The throttle they have looks wonderful, but they couldn't work out the trim indicator problem. I know that several other folks have given up on that endeavor because of the difficulty in working some kind of proportional gearing system between the trim wheel (which has to make several revolutions to make a small change in trim) and the trim indicator. I thought that a stepper motor gauge would be an easy solution... so long as there was enough room for it. I have a mostly non-functional vandebroeck throttle (a long story) and even with a motor to drive the throttle wheel shaft I believe that there would be sufficient room to put in a stepper motor where the trim indicator housing is located. Anyway, I'm personally a long way from being able to take on that project but thought it would be interesting to consider. However, I wouldn't want it to take away from you finishing the other goodies that we are patiently waiting for (yaw damper and boeing chronometer for example!). Maybe some other builders can use one of your generic motors and come up with a prototype.

Thanks for listening and I'll check my email for the info on the attitude indicator.

    Cheers!

    Chris

  8. Hello,

I was wondering if you could let me know the status of my order. I received two of the three stand-by instruments and was hoping to hear that you will be shipping the attitude indicator soon.

On a separate matter, I understand that a lot of builders working on throttle quadrants for Boeing aircraft (in particular the 737) are able to wire in a stepper motor to control the trim wheel, but have a difficult time with the complex mechanics of the trim indicator (proper calibration with a gearing mechanism is tricky).

It occurred to me that rather than a direct mechanical connection between the trim wheel and the trim indicator, that a stepper motor trim gauge reading trim state values from FS might be a much more workable solution. A number of companies are working on their own solutions for throttles and the community should start to see some products fairly soon from FDS and PM... The good folks at cockpitsonic have a throttle with all apparent functions except for the trim indicator. Maybe flight illusions could provide the solution and offer a collaboration.

    Thoughts?

    Sincerely,

    Chris

  9. Hello,

I have received my first gauge and given my PC layout connecting the board to the internal PC power supply and getting it close enough to the panel to connect the ribbon cable is not going to work.

I have to purchase a separate PC power supply (I'm in the U.S.) and I need to know if anyone has found a good model and a reliable vendor. I see from some of the posts that not all PC power supply units are the same, and that some might require some rewiring to get things to work properly. I would prefer to avoid that if at all possible.

Any advice/recommendations would be much appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Chris
