You probably need an entry in your hosts file, or use IP addresses to connect instead of host names. I run my own DNS for my 192.168.0.x addresses, but that's probably overkill for 99% of the population.

    Cheers!

    Hey Luke

Thanks for your fast response and explanation !

However, although I'm pretty PC-Savvi, I'm no network expert !

Please could you expand upon the above - what do you mean when you say, "entry in your hosts file" ?

    Many thanks

  2. Hello

For a very long time, I have had no issues connecting WideFS to FSUIPC running on my FSXSE server. However, for the last week or so, WideFS has been unable to connect.

Here is an exert from the WideClient log file:

    ********* WideClient Log [version 6.999y] Class=FS98MAIN *********
Date (dmy): 06/05/17, Time 14:57:03.378: Client name is BEDROOM4-1
          234 LUA: "C:\Program Files (x86)\FSX Addons\WideClient\Initial.LUA": not found
          265 Attempting to connect now
281 Trying to locate server: Need details from Server Broadcast
281 Failed to connect: waiting to try again
         2325 Attempting to connect now
45162 Trying to locate server: Need details from Server Broadcast
       191835 Server = BEDROOM4-3
       191944 Trying TCP/IP host "BEDROOM4-3" port 8002 ...
       191944 ... Okay, IP Address = 92.242.132.16
212957 Error on client pre-Connection Select() [Error=10060] Connection timed out
212957 Ready to try connection again
       214985 Attempting to connect now
214985 Giving up server, looking for another!
       214985 Server = BEDROOM4-3
       215016 Trying TCP/IP host "BEDROOM4-3" port 8002 ...
       215016 ... Okay, IP Address = 92.242.132.16
       238026 Server = BEDROOM4-3

I can see that the problem is obviously the "rogue" IP address of 92.242.132.16 being returned by FSUIPC.

Firstly, let me stress that I know that this problem has nothing at all to do with WideFS or FSUIPC. I believe that the issue is related to my router and ISP - TalkTalk as I believe that this has something more to do with DNS Hacking ? For some reason, when asked by FSUIPC for my server's IP address, the router is returning 92.242.132.16, not the correct one.

Further investigations have shown this IP address to belong to an organisation named Barefruit Error Handling who have some affiliation with TalkTalk.

However, I'm now at a loss how, or if, I can overcome this problem ? I have read that sometimes, a new router is the only way ?

Any help or advise would be much appreciated !

    Kind regards

    Gary

  3. Hi,

No it is not possible. The sound will come from the pc where the program is installed. However, we can implement an offset for use with pmsounds.

    Achilles

    Hello

Thanks for the reply - disappointing though as seeing that the programme was WideFS compatible was one of the reasons that I bought it.

Maybe you should consider stating that, although the programme can be run over WideFS, the rumble sound can only be heard on the client machine ?

Sorry for my ignorance, but if the sounds can't be heard from the machine where FSX is running, what then is actually achieved by running the programme over WideFS ?

    Regards

    Gary

  4. Hello All

I've just setup runway bumping effect as a client using WideFS.

However, I was surprised to discover that the bumping sounds are now only coming through the client's speakers and not those on the FSX (host) machine- is this how it was designed to operate as I would like to hear the bumping sounds through the FSX machine's speakers ?

  5. Hi all

Looking through the FSUIPC4 Offstet Status Manual, toggling aircraft shadows could be made possible using offet, x11A4 - just wondering if there are any plans to do so ?

Sceneries like Aerosoft's Rotterdam X (for FSX) can be a bit 'awkward' when it comes to displaying FS9 AI when aicraft shadows are turned on, so allocating a button press to toggle them on/off would be very convenient.

  6. Hello All

I'm currently attempting to adjust the trim of the PMDG NGX via my Saitek yoke using the left-hand rocker switch.

The rocker switch has been allocated the commands, Offset Sword Decrement / Offset Sword Increment, with parameters of 328/-16383 and 328/16383 respectively (exactly the same setup as used on my iFly 737NG). However, these appear to have no effect in the PMDG NGX, ie, no trim wheel movement.

What's interesting is that if I allocate the trim up to the standard elevator trim up command (which is too slow for my taste), the trim wheel moves up. If I they subsequently attempt to trim down using the Offset Sword Decrement, I (as stated above) see no effect. However, if I then trim up again, the trim pointer on the centre pedestal immediately 'jumps' down several positions before starting to move back up.

From this, I'm thinking that although trimming down using the Offset Sword Decrement command 'appears' to have had no effect (because the trim wheel does not move), the fact that when I then start trimming back up the position indicator moves down first suggesting that it did actually move, but gave no visual indication of this ???

To get around the problem I thought that I could setup mouse macros to the trim wheel actions, but although I start a mouse macro, I just don't seem to be able to get a recognisable macro action when I mouse click either of the trim wheel positions.

I'm currently using FSUIPC version 4.7.5.1

    Hope this makes sense.

    Regards

    Gary

  7. And: you can program the trim to operate at any speed you like using the increment/decrement offset controls. The trim action is in fact the example chosen in the user guide for this. See the boxed section entitled Offset Increment/Decrement Controls.

    That did the trick, Pete!!!

I now realise that I have only just scraped the surface of FSUIPC's capabilities...

Many thanks for your prompt assistance.

    Regards

    Gary

  8. Hi

I've noticed that when using FSUIPC 3.98 (FS2004) to control elevator trim via a CH Products yoke I'm seeing a very slow response.

The trim wheel within my iFly 737NG makes one movement once per second (approx) with auto-repeat enabled. I also see the same effect when using the default 172.

If I don't use FSUIPC to control the joystick, then the trim response is immediate.

    Any help much appreciated

    Regards

    Gary

  9. Can you copy the requested textures from the default directory into the directory where they´re searched and see if your problem is solved?

    Hi Thorsten

I'm sure what you suggest would work, however, short of copying over all of the texture files within \scenery\world\texture folder, i won't know exactly what textures to copy over unless i fly to all of the locations covered by balearics-gibraltar and continually monitor filemon to see if the problem's solved !!!

Also, i don't think it's correct that i should have duplicate copies of the same textures just in different places !!! Is the problem down to balearics-gibraltar telling fs to look in the wrong place for the texture files ?

    Regards

    Gary

  10. Hi Thorsten

Just as a quick update, after some more investigation, i believe that fs only looks for the texture.cab file if it can't find the texture *.bmp file required at the location its been to told to find it.

If it can't find it there either (which it won't), it then has a third go and looks for it in the standard \scenery\world\texture folder. Here is where it eventually finds what its looking for !!!

Obviously, each time it has to look in three places, a frame rate dip is potentially caused.

As i originally asked, i guess the issue here is why fs is being asked to find the files in the wrong folder in the first place.

    Kind Regards

    Gary

  11. Hi

I'm running a program called filemon that lists windows files being processed to determine while i'm seeing frame rate dips whilst parked up at ibiza 2004.

Based upon its findings, it appears that fs9 is attempting to process, but can't find the following balearic 2004 files

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE.CAB NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\030B2Su6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\003B2Wi6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\030B2Su3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\003B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\043B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\043B2Wi7.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

C:\Program Files\FS2004\aerosoft\balearen-gibraltar\ibiza_2004\TEXTURE\043B2Wi4.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error

The .bmps are on my system but are standard fs9 files found in the \scenery\world\texture directory but texture.cab is not there at all.

Can you please tell me why balearics 2004 is attempting to find texture files in the wrong place and where or what is the file texture.cab

    Many thanks

    Gary

  12. Hi

I've recently installed mallorca 2004 and seem to be having a problem with the scenery textures and coastline, see below.

I've read some previous posts and they mention some scenery files that should be labled as *.OFF by the installer - these have been correctly modified.

    Any help much appreciated

  13. Hi

I've recently re-installed Balearics 2002 in Fs2004 complete with all necessary patches.

Unfortunately, i have a serious problem at Menorca where the background vegetation textures are completely covering the airport apron and runway - almost like the whole scenery has "sunk" into the ground.

    Any suggestions ?

    Gary
