  1. shes a buaty easpecialy like the texturing great job mate

    water in boat bug idea:

you kno when look frough some class materals part of the boat disappear on the other side or when in 3rd person view water doesnt pass glass

maybe this can be taken advantage of build filture plain that match bounding box scale of boat hull along !x,y plain then have filter postistion and orientation x,z of boat hull and always to set its altitude y to wave highest point

o just so kno me non programmer but under stand a little on 3d methods

  2. old topic but thought no need to post new one because it relates here

i get crash on what !i think is all boats with smoke

i havent seen smoke in vs card i use is

geforce4 mx 128 mb intergrated driver fully uptodated

ive aways had my card bio shared at 64 mb

i not kno mutch about the graphic chip bio section only the boot drives section

im woundering does setting share to 128mb/max improve performance of the card !?

i get between 30 to 40 fps in vs at current

  3. updated redid all textures in deep blue scenery including waves

ive set the depth level down to 20 k_alt

so takes alot less time to reach bottem and most regions water visiblitie is blue but still some regions for dark water

also i notice that under water looks better with caustics disabled

also check inside the deepblue directory ive created a caustics tweek so you can see textures more clearly

check the readme in the deepblue/caustics folder about the tweek

    deepblue.zip

  4. thanks for the tip but

dont have nuthing like photo shop it cost to mutch

i use ulead photo impact it works well with shifting colour data types from 48 - 1 bit ,paint and editing tools only suited for 24bit though

method what do is create the depth.bmp still use 24 bit mode so can use blur burn and bright tools then switch data type to 8bit grayscale when finished

its also quite easy to swop pallets with the data index function on same image so all the scenery image maps can be don just by switching pallet from the depth then tweek and save as ...

also a good tool for making seemless/tiled textures is harmtiles stile or quake image editor wally

wally is mutch better to use than mspaint also

  5. i used

    100 land_size

    35 k_alt

im unsure on howslow itl run on other computers i use

geforce mx 512ddr athlon xp2700 frame rate is about 40 - 30 when run

ive never tried online play me still a noob ive only been playing vs since saturday

because so many people intrested il upload it early

    deepblue

thanks to the scenery tool i managed to get 1 of the models inplace but dont think conv3ds converts the texture materials ! ill have to read through the vs site some more on textured models

    current deepblue scenery contains

3 modiefied seemless textures for land useing a tex map has like a desert feel at dusk

    the waves are not modiefied

and only 1 scenary object i have about another 3 planed ship wreck, tresure chest etc

    also no animels but

  6. hello i like virtual sailer so mutch id like to make a freehand scenery map trying diffrent types on landscapes underwater mostly

ive completed the scenery and tweek couple textures for it but now

id like to add some custom scenary objects befor i upload it

some quetsions when i tried to load cutom model

i have a bit of confusion with the obj.bmp

    i made a p201.def [201 = pallet colour number!]

    1

    Sub_thing1 0.5 0 0.5 0.0 1 1 1

    0

    is 0.5 x 0y[=altitude!] 0.5z =bottem centre of pixel area ?

but the object does not appear at the location of the pixel zone

theres no problem with Sub_thing1.x because it does load as a boat when tested

do i need to make and ad a pallet.pal to the scenery dir as well?

    any help is welcome

also heres sneek peek at relief map c4d render made from def.bmp of WIP code name DeepBlue.jpg
