  1. Hi Murray,

have you read the current manual, Chapter 18 Ivao and VATSIM flights, paragraph A note on VATSIM and IVAO airspaces.

Another problem is that we have no access to the data of the VATSIM airspace structure.

    Regards,

    Volker

Thank you Volker for your timely reply. Yes, I did read that but I was not completely sure that it pertained to the problem I am seeing.

To your second point: That's too bad. I just assumed since there are freeware programs out there that seem to have no problem displaying the VATSIM controlled airspaces (VatSpy for one) that a payware program (like FSC9) would be able to do the same. Can you explain in more detail why freeware programs can access the data and you can't?

    Thanks!

    Murray

  2. This only happens on VATSIM and not on IVAO. Two of my VA friends experience the same problem. I searched here but found no answers.

    My spec:

    i7-920 CPU

    MSI x58 Pro-E

OCZ triple pack of RAM (6GB)

    nVidia 8800GTX

Windows 7 Ultimate 64, FSX, FSC9, ASE, FSCARS (all running and up to date builds)

FSX and all addons installed to proper locations.

Here is the image to show the problem...

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

  3. On page 5 of the FSC.pdf it says this...

This document offers an exhaustive description of all features and functions of FlightSim

Commander. Beginners and first-time users may also want to check the Tutorial which specifies

the major features of the program by way of a sample flight and can be downloaded from

    FlightSim Commander‘s website (www.fscommander.com).

    So, where is it?

    Thanks!

  4. Hello All!

A few days ago I order FSC 9. I am very pleased with my purchase so far. Everything works as stated.

There is one "little" problem that I am having, and I'm pretty sure it's not strickly an FSC problem. Here it is...

When I "CTRL + Left Click" on a pilot's tag from my VA, "Canadian Xpress Virtual"(while connected to VATSIM), the information that is displayed for the VA is not Canadian Xpress but instead it displays Xiamen Air.

Any advice on how to sort this!

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Murray

    Specs:

Software: FSC9, FSX (with accelerator), Windows 7 64, SB4 (on client), ASE, FSCARS, VATSpy

Hardware: i7-920 @3.8, 6GB RAM, GTX8800, Matrox THTG, TrackIR 4, Saitek Gear (all except the guages... soon though!!!)

  5. Thank you very much Luke for your replies.

I believe you are correct. I fixed the problem earlier today by re-installing FSX, than running the FSX.exe (the shortcut actually) "as administrator" and registered both FSUIPC 4.07 and WideFS. I then re-started FSX and ran the axis assignments, calibrations, buttons, and clicked OK. VISTA poped-up a "warning" and shut down FSX. I restarted FSX thinking that the assingments would be lost... they were not.

I will now go into the "modules" directory and do as the fellow did in the link you provided... add write/modity rights. I will test things and report back here.

Thanks again Luke for your help... and your humour!

  6. Murray,

you need to be a little bit more patient. Pete is away at the moment and many of the users don't have vista already.

I don't have it and I even don't have FSX but I seem to recall there was an option implemented into FSUIPC to disable the axis handling.

You don't have this option switched on by accident?

    Regards,

    Frank

Thanks for your response Frank... patients is a "virtue" that I don't seem to have. But, I really do appreciate your response.

It would seem that the install (or the) registration problem associated with Vista (mentioned by others) seems to have corrupted FSUIPC 4.07 on my system. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and now it is "seeing" my axises (spelling?). But, unfortunatly, it is not "saving" the axis assignments I enter. It does seem to be saving the calibrations though... but I cannot test there effectiveness because of the afore mentioned problem.

I am able to use FSUIPC 3.72 correctly (for the most part) when I boot to my Windows XP/FS2004 partition. I say for the most part becuase FSUIPC 3.72 does not always "see" the indent on the throttle axises (spelling?). This could be "my" error though as I have never used FSUIPC in this way... even though I have had a registered copy for many years ...no patients you know :D

Anyway, thanks again! If you have any other tips, please don't hesitate to let me know. I am a willing student.

BTW, I am in the process of re-installing ALL of my software as I had a motherboard die on me. I decided to go "BIG" and spent EDIT:$3000.00 CDN on the following components...

    ASUS P5B motherboard

    INTEL Core 2 Duo "Conroe" E6600 2.4GHz 4MB CPU

    EDIT: 2 Super*Talent DDR2-800 4G(2x1Gx(2 kits)) DUAL Channel RAM

    EVGA nVidia 8800GTX 768MB DDR3 Video Card

    SeaSonic 650X PSU

    2 WD 320Gb SATA2 Hard Drives

    Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit

I can now run FS9 (in Windows XP Pro) and FSX (in Vista 64bit) with all sliders one notch from the top, and with "no tweaks", locked at 30 FPS.

EDIT: I have applied the most popular "tweaks" (from the PMDG blog) and now have FSX locked at 20 FPS. I had to do this in order to have FSX run smooth in areas in and around large cities/airport combinations. By having it tweaked to run smooth in these areas, it runs smooth everywhere... kinda makes sense huh!?! Doh!

BTW, I used KJFK/New York city at 1500 feet to do the testing... lots of stuff to tax your system in that area of FSX!

  7. Hello!

I have both FSUIPC and WideFS installed and registered thanks to this forum. But, FSUIPC is unable to comunicate with my CHProducts (yoke, pedals, throttle) through the "axis" tab. The rest of the FSUIPC interface works correctly.

Is this a known issue with Vista and FSUIPC 4.07? If so, will there be a fix posted? Or, if one of you have 64Bit Vista and FSUIPC working perfectly, can you let me know?

    Thanks!

  8. Thx for the comments, Murray and Pierre. I did live in Haligonia for a time 25 years ago or so, but sorry to say it's not on the list of upcoming goodies.

    Jon

You mean "Halifaxia!" :D It's right across the harbour from the "Darkside"

How about adding the two bridges and moving the NS Power Plant back out of the water... how's ten bucks sound... oh, and Cidital Hill would be nice... OH! and how about the Old Town Clock... wait... the casino and Historic properties would be nice... and, and...

    :D

  9. For those that don't have Vancouver+... I feel sorry for you because you are missing out on "THE" best scenery (land-class/landscape) add-on you could imagine. I have spent well over $1500.00 dollars in the past 3 years on add-ons for FS9. A lot of them are absolutely great, but no one Add-on comes as close to perfection as Vancouver+.

Now, before I say anything else, let me make one thing perfectly clear. I am talking about what "I see", on "my machine", with "my" FS9 setup.

Here is what I have running on my main system (I have 3 actually):

Vancouver+ (most of the freeware airports listed in the compatibility list)

    UT Canada, USA, Europe

    FS Genesis (complete package)

    BEV (all available seasons)

    ASV 6

Payware aircraft (too many to list)

Here is my "basic" hardware list:

    AMD 3700+ CPU (754 pin - 1MB cache)

    2 x 1 GB Infenion PC3200 RAM

    ATI X800 Pro - 256 MB

    Augity 4

I will tell you that I do experience some stutters and a drop in FPS (no lower than 10) but it is worth it for the immersive factor this Add-on brings to my simming experience. Folks, I truly feel that I am "finally" experiencing flight on my computer.

I could go on but then I would be here typing and not where I want to be... flying in and around Vancouver!

PLEASE consider doing Halifax, NS... I would pay a small ransom for that! :D  :D

    Thanks!

  10. Thanks you sir! That is great news.

BTW, my comments about your use of the word fun should not be seen as provocative in any way. As I am sure you know, it is difficult to express one's self in "type".

I simply meant I liked the concept of this program and would like to see it developed more if possible. Also, I truly do understand the limitations associated with the development process as I have been involved with a few software projects myself.

Thanks again. I look forward, with enthusiasm, to further developments.

  11. Hello Francois!

Thanks for your response... and for bringing FSCargo to us.

I have to be honest with you on one comment you made above. I don't find it fun to have to search for the pickup or drop off areas. I "try" to make my simming experience as real as I can... so what I would find fun, is for FSCargo to tell me where to pickup or drop off my cargo.

Has any thought been given to adding this feature, or a similiar one (a pointing device one could follow)? Or perhaps there could be a way for FSCargo to list specific areas, i.e. FS9 cargo areas only, at airports that have them, and perhaps distance in feet/meters from runways at airports that don't have cargo areas.

  12. Update:

I did a little more searching in this forum, and I think I fixed the problem. I used the editor inside FSCargo to find the cargo area at KSHN. To my surprise, it did not "show" but apparently it was there because I was able to "move" it to another area. I also assigned a "designator (a truck) to make it easier to see.

I will fly the flight again tomorrow evening and let you know how things work out.

  13. Thank you for your response Tom. Good to know.

Tom, are you the creator of the Maritime Canada pack? If so, I just want you to know how much I am enjoying that. I live in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and my home is about a 15 minute drive from CYHZ (Halifax International).

I just finished a flight from Debert (NS) to CCS5 (NB). I had no trouble finding the areas as you seem to place them in very logical locations.

    Thank you Tom!

  14. I just bought FSCargo and flew a few missions. I am using the cfg files found on your site. All was well until I flew a mission tonight from CYXX (Brirtish Columbia) to KSHN (Washington). I searched and searched and searched some more but I could not find the "drop off" area at KSHN.

    Question 1:

If FSCargo lists an airport as having a cargo pickup area or a drop off area does that mean that there "absolutely" is one or the other areas to be found at that airport? In other words, does FSCargo ever give false information?

    Question 2:

Has anyone else had this problem with any of the cfg files found on the FSAddon site?

    Thanks!

    Murray Wheten
