  1. Just a clarification please. What features are usable in FSC if you load a flightplan into FSX/FS9 and use the default FSX/FS9 GPS or a third party one for navigation (or even the old fashioned way - VORs etc), but don't have a flightplan loaded in FSC (because you can't import FS flightplans into FSC - a big drawback IMHO). On the face of it just the information you can glean from the map but I may be missing something. Thanks

  2. #1: I dont't understand that. How are you flying? One step forward, two steps back?

#2: Could be an idea for easier positioning

#3: Well, the "flat" world works perfect for me

But if these points are very important for you, you should keep using FSNavigator.

I would if it worked in FSX!

As for #1 you can edit flight plans in FSCommander it is just more fiddly than FSNavigator and this seems a very simple thing to request. As for #3 well the flat world display gets more and distorted at higher latitudes (look at the size of Greenland on the FSC mercator projection map for example) and you get curved tracks for great circle routes a particular point with long distance polar routes such as Sydney - Buenos Aires. With FS Navigator you could rotate the globe and see the flight as a straight line - much preferable in my opinion.

  3. Well even though I downloaded FSC on 24/11/10 the new FSC.exe which was supposed to have been uploaded on 23/11/10 seems to have done the trick and I now have Google Earth connectivity. Nice program that has many of the features I got used to in FSNavigator. A couple of areas where it falls short

    1. It would be nice to be able to reorder flightplan waypoints by dragging and dropping with mouse (as you could do in FSNavigator)

    2. Would like to be able to drag custom waypoints to a new position on the map with the mouse (as you could do in FSNavigator).

    3. Much prefer the round world used for the map in FSNavigator over the flat earth mercator projection used in FSC.

  4. Just a quick question so that I don't waist anyone's time. Do you need to be registered to have your aircraft displayed in Google Earth because after following the directions in the manual no matter what I do the show google earth option in the GPS window remains greyed out? Also I when I check the correct path to Google Earth in the options window (C:\Program Files (x86\Google Earth\client), after closing that window and then reopening it, the Google Earth path is unchecked. I am evaluating the trial version and Google Earth connectivity is the key to making a purchase decision. Thank you.

  5. Hi have found the files, was looking in the wrong folder,, but couldn't get this batch file to work so did a manual install. All seems well with MF now but unfortunately not with UT "enhanced" Alaska coast and lakes.! Should have browsed the UT support forum before purchasing, clearly UT was a bit underdone at release!

  6. Just to report that this same problem has happened to me as well after running install - exchange of UT-MF overlap files.bat - now trying sort out what has happened as now I don't have the original files in the Misty Fjords scenery directory (the ones starting with 0_DF_) nor do I have the replacement files (the ones starting with 0_UT_).

  7. Thank you for you comment. I knew that it was ISEC.txt that I had to edit but from another post in this forum it seems you need to add new fixes in the right order and that is the tricky part. I general the database is ordered by longitiude first then latititude starting at the North pole. However the order is not completely hierarchical and finding precisely where to insert your fixes is a challenge. However by finding where fixes that do appear on the map are in the database I have been able to insert fixes for a GPS approach that isin the Garmin and MSFS database but not FSNavigator (even with recent airac revisions). The other thing that wasn't immediately clear is that after you have made your changes you need to run FSNavDBC.exe.

I was particularly interested in the approach (GPS26L into YBLA) because of an accident last year when the pilot of a Piper Cheyenne flying this approach in cloud crashed into a hillside some 34 K SE of the aiport (way off course) with all on board killed. Furthermore, although using a GPS for navgation, radar data indicated that the aircraft's track was a consistent 3.83 degrees left of the direct track for most of the flight. The final report may have important impliactions for the use of GPS receivers.

  8. I have been attempting to edit ISEC.txt (to make it more compatible with the Garmin database) but without much success. I understand that new entries have to be in the right order but how do you do this? Furthermore after some unsuccessful attempts to get new intersections to show up on the map I have found that even if I remove ISEC.txt altogether intersection data still shows up on the map although without my mods.
