  1. Thanks again for the prompt reply Pete.

Darn it, I forgot to change the timeout paramater ! I have now done so ( set to 5 sec ), so will rrun the test again tomorrow.

Some of the points above are down to me misreading the log file. I was looking at the sim time in the line after each auto save entry thinking that was the time the simconnect connection was being lost. My error. As is only seeing the create Menu Item entry at the end. I now see it's all over the place.

I use Active Sky 2012, but it was not running during this latest flight. I will check the FSX weather setting and set it to static for the next test. Regards other programs running in the background - I do use McAfee Internet Security which runs real time anti virus, but there does not seem to be any option to exclude specific directories or files from real time scanning.

I fly with another VA which uses a different acars program. Not had any obvious issues there, but there again, never looked at the log file after using that client. It's also less sophisticated thatn Phoenix, so maybe less sensitive Will try it next time to see if the loss of connection occurs with that one.

Test will continue, but meanwhile very appreciative of your help and patience.

    Regards

    Drew

  2. Hello again Pete.

Been trying to pin this down over the last two days.

Yesterday I loaded up FSX on the main PC and my VA Acars ( BAVirtual Phoenix client ) recorder on the networked PC. Phoenix uses FSUIPC for network connection. I had intended flying with only the acars running in addition to FSX. The acars client stopped receiving fsx data ( ie aircraft shown to be static although the acars app was still running ) This was after about two hours flight. However, I then noticed I had FSInn Control Panel running in the background on the networked PC, so I guess it would have a Simconnect connection to FSX. So, I thought I would run the scenario again, but make sure it was only FSX and Phoenix running.

Today, tried the scenatio. FSX pc and Phoenix on netwroked PC. Same flight, same aircraft ( PMDG MD11 ), same flight plan. Completed flight in about 2 hrs 20 min without a problem. Acars received data and PIREP was filed.

However, I then looked at the FSUIPC log file ( attached ) and there is a loss of simconnect events throughout the flight. Tho I guess it must be successfully reconnecting. It seems to coincide with Autosaves, but not always. Autosave is set at 2 min, and there are greater gaps in the log. The last entry is interesting. I use a CH yoke set up through FSUIPC. It stopped responding for a short period. The last entry shows the FSUIPC Menu Item being added again. Does this mean FSUIPC "crashed" and restarted ?

I intend re-running the test again each time adding one of the addons that uses simconnect to see what happens, buy any observation at this stage appreciated.

  3. HI Pete,

This is the contect of my simconnect ini file.

    [simConnect]

    level=verbose

    console=yes

    ;RedirectStdOutToConsole=1

    ;OutputDebugString=1

    ;file=c:\fsx program/modules/simconnect%03u.log

    ;file_max_index=9

I also have a simconnect diagnostic output window that runs behind FSX. I installed that a while ago when I was trying to fix a SB4 issue with simconnect. However, I cant figure out how to uninstal it !

Sounds like I may have cause the problem myself !

  4. Thanks for the propmt reply Pete, and late on a Sunday evening too !

I will try the timeout work around and also work through the simconnect using add ons and report back.

It have also remembered that on this latest occassion, I was aware that the FSX PC HDD was in almost constant use. I could hear it chattering away. I rhad this on a previous event and when I checked via Task Mgr, the physical memory in use was almost maxed out ( almost 8 Gb ). I started the sim again and monitored it during a flight and although the memory in use at the start was say 2 Gb, it steadily crept up and up as the flight progressed, although FSX never got the the point where it crashed or stopped responding. I will monitor this during further testing in case its relevant.

    Regards

  5. I have used FSUIPC registered for many years, but have recently experienced a problem where although my VA acars client is still running ( the timer is still running ), but the aircraft position is static. FSX is still running OK, and the aircraft is still moving on the map within EFB. So the sim etc all seems to be working fine. In fact on one occassion I completed the flight and landed only to find the acars program still had me "frozen" in mid flight. I initially suspected the acars program, but seesm to be OK, but then spotted that FSUIPC was no longer listed in the FSX Add-ons menu, although it had been there at the start of the flight.

    System details

FSX PC is Windows 7 64 bit, with FSUIPC 4.853 installed. FSX incl SP1 and 2.

2nd PC also Windows 7 64 bit running WideFS 6.987 along with various add ons such as Active Sky 2012, Aivlasoft EFB and my ACARS program.

Active Sky and EFB are still connected OK and updating. The WideFS button screen is populated so that looks to be OK.

I saved a few of the log files before I shutdown FSX just in case these were of any help and these are attached.

I recognise this might not even be an FSUIPC issue.

  6. Hello there.

I hope you can help me get to the bottom of this. I am trying to set up FSC on a networked PC. Both PC's run Windows 7. FSUIPC (reg) anf WideFS (reg) are installed. The FSX PC has FSX installed in its own directory outside Prog Files and its mapped on the second PC. Other addons are working fine acorss the network.

We installed the CD version but had some issues when the Database Mgr was run initially. It found the FSX drives on the network, but gave an error about not being able to access the aircraft directory. After a bit of reading on here it looked like we had not run the installation as an Admin, so we unistalled and started again.

This time we ran it as admin. But now FSC database mgr cannot see the mapped drives. They are accessible from the PC and other FSX addons are reading them, so there is nothing wrong with the mapping. Whats puzzling me is FSC database Mgr WAS able to access them before I uninstalled. Is there something needing done to clean out the previous installation completely ?

Tried installing the download version and got the same result.

    Any suggestions ?

    Andrew

  7. Hi Pete,

I use a registered version of FSUIPC and WideFS. Just updated to the latest version. I recently bought my first yoke so have started to get into the real ability of FSUIPC. I use WideFS on a networked PC and all works well. However, I thought I would experiment with the Button Screen facility in the WideClient. I have followed the instructions in the User Guide and amended the WideClient.ini as suggested using the [buttonScreen] parameters in the manual as a starter, but when I start the client no button screen appears. The client works fine otherwise and the FSX PC confirms they are connected.

I am sure I am missing something very obvious here, and I apologise in advance.

My ini and log file is attached.

  8. HI Andrew,

you have to do EXACTLY what is written in the manual on page 12 "Updating airports for FS X in a network" then it will work (at least did it for me ;) )

    Hi Otto,

Had another look at it and went thru the steps in the manual again. All the shares were in place, but I had not mapped the drives. Working now. Thanks

  9. Hi,

I have downloaded the demo version from the FS Commander site. FSC is installed on a second PC along with other FSX addons, but when I run the FSC database builder, the director for FSX on the other PC is not included on the list of directory options. The FSX directory is definitely shared with full read /write access and is accessed by various other apps already without any issue - eg FSInn and Active Sky. I have also tied setting up the entire drive that FSX is installed on as a share, but still no success.

    System details :

    2 networked PC's both running Windows 7 (64 bit)

    FSUIPC4 + WideFS ( registered versions )

    FSC version 9.0.0.4

    FSCdatabasemgr 9.0.0.4

Would appreciate any assistance to enable me to try the demo before I purchase.

    Thanks

    Andrew

  10. Peter,

Purchased FSUIPC and WideFS just recently so still experimenting with my network set up see whats best for me. At present I have FS9 on my main PC, with things like Active Sky, SB3 on seperate server PC on the network. The server PC doesn't have the any speakers, keyboard or mouse connected.

I also use an ACARS programme ( BAvirtual's ACARS to be exact ) ACARS transmits messages which appear on my FS screen as usual. However, ACARS also issues a BEEP to alert when a message is transmitted. Obvioulsy without any speakers on the server PC I dont hear anything. Is there any way to send the BEEP across the network to the FS9 PC ?

Apologies if this is a really stupid question.

    Thanks

    Andrew

  11. Been using FSNav for a few weeks without any problems. But now I'm having a prob with the auto pilot. I'm creating my FP as before, I take off ( manually ) and activate the auto pilot after I've raised the gear with positive rate of climb. However, the AP is not controlling the vertical speed as it did before. All other controls, HDG, IAS etc are still being controlled by the AP, but the plane just levels off at what ever altitude I activated the AP and flys the FP at that level. I know I could just deactivate the AP, climb to cruise level and reactivate, but it was all automatic until two days ago.

Dont know if its related, but when I've manually flown a FP, I get to a point when lining up on the ILS about 8 miles out at 3000 according to the FP, but on screen I'm almost over the airport and seem to be at a much higher altitude than shown on my guages and need to either dive or circle to lose enough altitude. I've tried rebuilding the FSNav database but still the same.

Above probs happen in various aircraft.

  12. John,

I've tried setting M2 to manual but when I intersect the ILS I click on it, but the throttles still take over. I have control of all other surfaces. I tried deactivating the AP, but spotted that the IAS light was still on which seemed to be dictating the air speed, but quite why when the AP is off I'm not sure - but hey thats Microsoft lol.

So, seems I need to disengage AP completely and override any controls it leaves behind ( eg IAS ).

  13. Hi,

I'm new to flight sims so apoligies if this is a silly question. I'm using MSFS 2004 with FSNav. Set up a basic flight plan from Manchester (EGCC) to Stansted (EGSS) flying a Learjet45. Everything works fine. I disconnect the AP when on final approach and follow the glide slope in for landing, but when I touchdown the throttles open up forcing me to either touch and go or abort the flight. Not sure if its something I'm doing ( or not doing ) when setting up the FP or how I'm de-activating the FP on finals.
