  1. Hey folks, I made a few personal sectors and they all run fine, but I wanted to know if there's away to program speed profiles on the STARs like they are in real world. It gets hard to constantly assign speeds when needing to do other things.

Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Hello,

Does anyone know why generated GA aircraft don't follow SIDs in Tracon? This happens in both the feelthere sectors and the sectors I've created myself (modeled after feelthere's)

Every runway has a SID and the route line in the sim shows that the GA flt should fly the SID but they never do.

    Thanks,

    Easy,

What I do is give the int'l flights a different IATA & ICAO assignment. e.g. in Tower 2011, I assigned United int'l flights to ICAO UAH. & then assigned UAH to the appropriate terminal.

I kept the same callsigns. Also this works for cargo A/C i.e Cathay Pacific cargo flights are ICAO CPC IATA CY (from memory). I also change the call to CATHAY CARGO to remind me that it is going to the cargo terminal on landing.

A problem with Tower 3D is that a particular A/C may not have a RT colour so might appear white but it will go to the correct terminal.

Have a fiddle around with it.

Good Idea thanks, I'll have to try that out.

Then let's get another one started!  :)  I seem to remember reading somewhere that KBOS is either in the works or at least a planned airport for T3D.  That one is my, "backyard airport" (used to work there) and the reason I spent many MANY hours in Tower!2011.  Not that KLAX and KATL aren't challenges but I enjoy the challenge KBOS presents with the crosswind runways.  For example, having arrivals coming in on 22L and 27 while departing from 22L (and 22R: non-jet).  Not to mention dealing with Cape Air and it's ability to land with about 3 feet of runway!  Okay, all aircraft approaching taxiway N, Cessna 402 making it's way to terminal C, clear the way please!  (More like, Cair 5155 hold short of taxiway november, for about 30 minutes)  Ha!

The other thing I like about KBOS is that everything for the most part is right in front of you.  You're not getting whiplash swinging 180 degrees to the runways on the other side of the field.  It's all the action right in your face.  The tower is practically directly above the ramps for terminals B and C so plenty of closeups.  But PLEASE, you've got to give us north and south cargo.  (KLAX for example has no cargo ramp - unless you put them on the GA ramp.)  I used to love looking out the US Airways terminal and seeing those big DC-10's across the ramp.  Followed by the characteristic drone of an AA Saab 340B taxiing by (eyeroll - thankfully they've gone to all RJ's now and no longer park overflow traffic near Terminal A).

Anyway, a great airport for T3D, in my opinion.  Just over 1,000 ops per day, about 700 less than KLAX but still a challenge depending on how the runways are configured.  And right now with runway 4R/22L out of service for repaving, there's an added challenge!  So that's my, "plug" if you will.  I'll have to get down there and shoot some video sometime from central parking or Revere Beach but there's plenty already, including ATC recordings from the famous, "Boston John."  (not me - ha!)

Yea I definitely agree BOS would be a great add on, I support that. Between BOS, LGA, and my all time favorite CLT my collection would be complete, if Feelthere and Sim Smith Designs are taking requests.

  5. Hello,

Some good airports IMO: KLGA KEWR KDCA KBOS. They are smaller fields with pretty complex traffic.

KCLT is definitely my overall favorite, pretty big though. But seeing some of the other massive airports like KDFW or KORD (too much construction) wouldn't be too bad in moderation.

  6. I went in to the schedule, and all coding looks correct. I've verified that all of the airports that say ICAO not found are in the airports database. Also, I restored the original default schedule and I am getting extremely low departures with that too. I've even cross checked my sector programming with my other custom sectors and default sectors, and everything checks out. I am stumped.

Also, strangely enough, when I remove the sidstar_cfg data for BOS from the sidstar_cfg.txt file, I get plenty of departures. (however I need BOS sidstar data in the file or else all departures only use one SID {which is unrealistic}.)  I even had another forum member check my sidstar_cfg and they said that everything looks OK. I went back to check the file and it still looks good. I don't know where I am going wrong.

  7. Hello,

Lately I have created a few TRACON sectors, and they are fully functional. However, I have an issue with departure frequency. I use Dick Parker's Tower schedule generator to create my TRACON schedule (KBOS). I setup for 1200 aircraft over a 19hr period (~40 departures, ~40 arrivals hourly), but I literally get no departures in an hour span; plenty of arrivals though.

At first I was using the default schedule, which gave me departures and arrivals, however not enough for my liking. It seems like ever since using the created schedules my departures are almost nonexistent. My sliders are to the max, multiple dept runways are selected, all runways have SIDs, and all routes and airports have been created.

I've attached my log file, which shows ample departures, I think. Is there someone that can analyze my .log to help identify the problem?

p.s. my other sectors and the Feelthere sectors experience also experience the issue, just not to the same extent as KBOS.

    Thanks

  8. Hello,

I have created a few different sectors for TRACON using the Airspace Editor. All of my sectors work with no problem. All runways have multiple SIDs to use for departure, however only one sector is ever used for a particular runway. Even the ultimate direction of flight has no effect on the SID. For example, at CLT if a flight is departing CLT for BOS, the flight will use the SID that directs the flight to the west. Even after saying "resume own navigation" the aircraft will still complete the SID until the terminating fix then turn toward the direction of the destination. I have a number of airways and tried to edit some of the SIDs, but nothing has worked. It simply seems like each runway has its own SID.

P.S. Every runway has a SID, and each runway has multiple SIDs available for use (in the parameters box). This seems to happen at all of my sectors. Does anyone know what the issue is.

    Thanks

  9. I was playing KPHL for 2011 and tried to use runway 17 for landing, but no aircraft would accept. So I tried restarting Tower2011 with ONLY runway 17 as the active runway and the game crashes saying "Fatal error - no approach lines for runway". I've looked at the airfield in the airfield editor and it does have runway 17 outgoing and incoming. Does anyone know how to create an approach line for a runway?

  10. This really isn't a support kind of question, but I was just wondering if feelthere or any partners are still continuing to develop new sectors. I really like TRACON, especially with the new Chicago Sector, and would like to see even more good sectors! I've tried to create my own sectors, but its definitely a tough work in progress.
