Mine was going black screen as well due to being online, did the patch and that solved it, might want to give that a try.
Now I'm having problems getting the mic to work. Yes followed all of the trouble shooting steps still no joy. after two days of "teaching" the computer my voice and trying different things I have taken a break from it. I can open the Speech Recognition window ( the little window at top that shows the mic) it sees my voice and everything, I hit the "Shift" key and I can hear the little sound it makes saying my mic is on in Tower 3D, it just seems there is a disconnect somewhere. Not sure what the problem is.
