  1. when i am all set up for looking at purchases for fs again (i am processing a major location move) i will definitely go back to the developer's site and see what gives with what this package offers.

    After a quick peek to my wallet and checking my bank account, I'm also waiting for a possibility of some kind of part payment. If the scenery would be split in 15 parts 10$ each, I perhaps could have the whole Switzerland in winter 2005... :wink:

  2. Talking about add-on prices: one happily pays 20$ for a single airport but would he pay 200$ at a go for a 10-airport-pack? Or 2000$ for a package containing all the airports of a single country?

    Another example, the Georender series. If you couldn't buy them separately, would you really buy them in a single package for 135$? That would definitely cost more than the sim itself.

    That swiss scenery is surely on the expensive side, but hey, it has ALL the airports, roads, rivers, lakes, villages, cities, hills and mountains of a whole country not only at the right places but also they look just as in reality. Maybe it had a better chance if it was split in smaller parts. "I buy the southwestern part for 20$ today and the next part for another 20$ next month. And the next part..."

    What is that add-on price limit based on FS price tag? Buy two sceneries and two aircrafts and you have already spent more money on add-ons than FS itself.

    Hmm, instead of complaining about add-on prices, should we suggest Microsoft to raise the price of FS? After all, it has the scenery for almost the whole world in it... :wink:

    For large scenery areas in FS, I find accurate landclass/autogen scenery better than photo ground textures. With landclass/autogen scenery the changes in time of day and time of year are "automatic" and you don't need another 80Gb hard drive for the scenery textures.

  3. Come on guys, do you really think that the author got those aerial photos for free? I've heard he had to pay about 250000$ for them.

    Once upon a time a finnish group contacted some geographical authorities and asked about the price for geographical vector data for the whole Finland. That could have been used to make autogen scenery, coastlines, etc. with 1 meter accuracy. That vector data would have cost about 850000€ (eight hundred and fifty thousand euros).

    Although it has it's limits (one texture for all times of day and year and no night textures), I personally don't see that swiss scenery overpriced at all.

  4. Can you tell me WHEN this message occurs -- i.e. what are you doing, and exactly what it looks like? Thanks.

    Is that filename for the "AlsoSave" parameter correct? Just a "z"? Is that intended? I wonder if that is related? Do you still get a problem if you use the normal file cycling method (Files=1 instead of 0)?

    After flying for some time with Autosave saving flight every fifth second I quit FS. During the next start of FS2002 it complains about not being able to load the selected a/c and loads the FS-default flight instead.

    With version 1.40 there is no problem, FS loads flight "z" which is set as startup flight in FS. The filename "z" is intended, Autosave saves correctly the two files, z.FLT and z.WX.

    I'll provide soon a screenshot of the error message and also try with FSUIPC 2.975 instead of the unregistered 3.06.

  5. When starting my FS2002 AutoSave versions 1.46, 1.48 and 1.49 cause error "can not load the selected aircraft" (or somehing like that) and reset FS to its default Cessna-in-Meigs-situation. Version 1.40 works OK. AutoSave is configured to save only one flight every fifth minute.

    AutoSave.cfg:

    [user]

    Interval=60

    Files=0

    AlsoSave=z

    AlsoInterval=300

    SaveOnGround=Yes

    [Files]

    Next=1

    And BTW: is there any advantage of using FSUIPC 3 with FS2002 compared to the last freeware version (2.975, I guess)?

  6. ActiveSky imports weather data to FS2002, FSSWSE changes cloud textures. These two programs don't interact with each other.

    ActiveSky sets cloud coverage, types, and altitudes. FSSWSE has several different looking texture sets for each cloud type. You can select your own favourite sets to install or let FSSWSE to select them randomly at preferred intervals.

    But remember: in FS2002 only one texture set for each cloud type can be installed at a go. If you install another set for a cloud type, it overwrites the previous set.

  7. Some things I'd like to point out:

    As a general rule with Roger Wilco, "Slow modem" should ALWAYS be chosen as Internet connection speed, no matter what kind of connection you actually have. So even if you have ADSL or cable modem, remember to select "Slow modem".

    Also use only "Press To Talk"-option to transmit, NEVER "Voice activated".

    CHECK the option "Run RW at High CPU Priority", but UNCHECK the option "Use less CPU".

    If you don't follow these notes, YOUR Roger Wilco program may seem to function properly but it is causing trouble to OTHER users on the same RW channel.

  8. The mission surely was very challenging. I spent hours circling too much east on the other side of the mountain peak. I almost gave up and thought there was nothing to be found at all.

    The poor guy really managed to decrease the resale value of his Piper. I hope his insurance was in order...

    But, ou est la femme? Just can not find the girl. She's still out there somewhere and the time is running out... :(

    Or could she possibly have survived the long walk to Packwood all by herself?
