  1. I've definitely isolated the issue to my router. Using direct connection (PC to PC) everything functions just like it should! Even got FS Cdr working! When I have my secondary PC connected to the router it won't work. Got internet, can see all the networked drives, grab files back and forth between PC's.......it's maddening. New router will be here Monday. :D In the meantime I'll be checking out how to get everything running by simply starting FSX! Peter, I really appreciate your efforts helping me to figure this out! It's nice to get a response to inquirey's like this.
  2. I've made a little bit of progress. The log file shows that connections are made then connection is closed by server. Thoughts?
  3. Yes, Pete it certainly appears that it's a network issue. I was able to connect WideClient when I connected directly to my primary PC (bypassing the router). Still had trouble with FS Cdr in that I got several error messages about SID/STAR files missing and Weather station file corrupt or missing. Couldn't get it (FS Cdr) to connect although WC was connected. Did some fooling around and reconnected things as they were and tried WC again and it would connect and then the server closed the connection. :x I'm going to have my IT guys at work come over and set up my network again. Had a thunderstorm two weeks ago that took out my original router and have been using a loaner they gave me. I'm pretty sure that's where 90% of my troubles are. The other 10% are figuring out what I'm doing wrong with FS Cdr. In any event I'm really looking forward to getting this straightened out as I believe using FS Cdr (and any other add-on I may choose) on a secondary PC while flying FSX in full screen on my primary will be a blast! Thanks to you and the WideServer/WideClient package that's possible! :D P.S. Wound up getting Vista Basic for my secondary anyway. Was looking for an excuse to do it.... :D
  4. Thanks for your reply Peter and more importantly your help and guidance! :D VERY glad to hear that Vista64 and XP plays well together....I was just about to go out and get the Vista Upgrade... Didn't delete the SimConnect files so that's still intact. And I didn't even think to look at the log files you suggested. I'll PM them to you for review. Looks like the connection was refused.... :(
  5. I'm trying to run FlightSim Commander on a secondary PC and can't seem to get WideClient to connect to my main PC. It just tells me it's waiting for a connection. I've attempted to delete the simconnect files so I can run FSX Acceleration Repair but I've had no joy on that front either. I can't seem to find the proper "combination" on my Vista permissions to do that despite being the one and only Administrator on my PC. :? I've got registered versions of WideFS and FSUIPC4 installed on my "main" (Vista64 Ultimate) and WideClient installed on my secondary (WinXP Pro). I've read through the manuals till my eyes have bled and still can't unlock this mystery. I'm probably just not seeing the forest for the trees.... :( Please help this pitiful excuse for a wanna be aviator and help me get my GPS turned in the right direction. I'm beginning to suspect that it may be an issue between the two different OS's. Anyone else have any insight into this?
