  1. OK, I plan to run the full paid version of FSUIPC for FSX. I have not gotten that far in my setup yet. So, basically what you are saying, and forgive my ignorance here, all I do is set ASE up for FS9 and choose the FSX files when it asks for the locations? Is it really that easy? As always, many thanks
  2. Hi Pete. In your fisrt reply you said this ASE works better with Simconnect because it is designed to do so. It will work via WideFS too I believe, but it will need to think the server is running FS9 I would love to know how I would go about telling the server it is running FS9 and what steps I would need to take in order to get ASE connected with WideFS. And, will Ineed the WideFS for FSX or will FS9 work?
  3. UM, ok Pete. Can you tell me what I would have to do to make this happen as you just might as well have spoke German? I have been messing with simconnect for days and cannot find out where the problem lies. Now ASE is telling me I have a sharing issue when all the files can be seen, accessed, written to and saved from the client to the server. This doesn't help either as the simconnect test always fails. I have read your other post where you gave support to someone regarding ASE. That also did not help. I know I can speak for a ton of Simconnect failures that if WideFS can connect and run ASE in FSX we would be beyond happy and you would sell a ton of software 8). The FS9 setup with WideFS and ASE takes a whole 3-5 minutes. It looks like simconnect is about that same range.....but in months or years! As always, I appreciate your time, effort and response.
  4. Hi, I was wondering if this version of WideFS can be used with FSX in the same maner as the FS9 version? Some time ago I tried to install SimConnect and it caused all kinds of issues. The only things I run from a remote computer are FSInn, which has its own network stuff built in and ASE. The FS9 wide FS works flawlessly. I am hoping that I can use this without installing Simconnect. I am waiting on a reply from HiFi as I could not log into their site and dont have the order number anymore to re register. Thanks
  5. Hello Pete, it has been a while. Things have been running great for well over a year now. Now, I cannot seem to connect properly again. I did buy a new router almost 10 months ago and never had an issue with it. I have reinstalled all files for wide FS on my FS9 machine and the laptop that has ASE, FSInn and WideFS on it. I used your instrustions that came with the version I am using. I have not updated to the latest version as it took me forever to get my controls the way I like them. Anyway, to follow is an attachemnt of both ini files and both log files. The first is from the laptop. Many thanks for helping me solve this issue. Nothing else has changed here. So, I am at a loss why it would stop working all of the sudden. I think I had to reinstall the ini on the laptop once as it wouldn't connect. But, this time, it says that is is. But, there is obviously an error in the log file for the desktop that has FS9 on it. Thanks again and here are the files. This is from the laptop that has ASE, and the WideFS exe file on it. 6. WHOLLY CRAP, I GOT IT! It was the DNS server causingthe issue like was inthe thread. I just had to dig a little to find that damn button! Many thanks Peter! Now I have to find why only certain files will share depsite the fact I shared them all.
  7. Hi Peter. Well, I read the threads and it makes as much sense to me as Japanese would. I am not at all savvy when it comes to this networking stuff. The fartherI get in it, the more confused I become. I did put the ip addr in the client ini flie. I am sorry to say that it still looks for the other ip. It ignores the ip in the ini. I also looked through all of the setup stuff in the router and cannot find what it would take to not allow the alt DNS. I really didn't find anything in there about it. I did find a bunch of stuff I have no idea how to use or what it does though :?: I will have to call D-link support I guess. I did redownload the client from the FS9 section and started from scratch in a feeble attempt that maybe it would work. No luck. Looks like I will not be networking ASE from my laptop with WideFS. I have even less of an idea of how to solve this issue now than I did before. Although there was a ray of hope that the ini edit with the ip addy would fix the issue it was quickly dashed when I fired up the sim and the client. I appreciate your support and guidance. :)
  8. Thanks for the response Peter. Ufortunately I was not ale to fix the issue. I put the serverIPaddr in the ini file and it still went to the other one for the connection. I cannot find, in my router's setup area, where to change that DNS thing where it will not use an alt server. I have used the help option and went over all things. Other than dumping the network again and starting over, and probably having the same issue again, I have no idea what to do. Reading this network stuff is like trying to read Japanese for me. Looks like I will not be using WideFS and ASE on the remote computer. I really thought the IP command in the ini file would have fixed it.
  9. Ok Peter, here are the files. It looked like I had 2 log files in the modules folder. I put them both here. 10. Ok Peter, after some more looking. I have found that my floight sim folder is not allowing access to the remote (client machine) I have no idea why. I can share files and folders. but not the FS folder. What a pain this is proving to be. Nothing I have tried to do works as it should.
  11. Hi Peter, I am having an issue with my connection to Wide FS. I installed it on my FS machine. I made the folder consisting of the exe and the ini file and attemp to connect. What happens is the client connects and then is immediatly disco'd and the process continues. In the log file it says that the connection is made ok but then is disco'd by the server. IN this case I assume the server is my desktop machine? I do have my FS folder and the APP folder shared on this machine. I am able to see the map of all my machines and share files over my network at home. SO, I believe the network is right. I also edited the ini to my desktop pc name and the TCP under protocol. The client machine is a wireless laptop. I have also tried this with a wire and the same thing happens. All it does is sit there and connect and then disco, all in about 1 second. Can you help please? Many thanks
  12. Hello Pete. Have a quick question for you. I currently run FS9 on an XP pro machine. It is 32 bit. I run FSInn on a laptop that is Vista 32 bit. I want to run the new version of Active sky (ASE) and eventualy REX for FSX and FS9 on the laptop as well. Soon my desktop will have Win7 on it. I thought I heard that Win7 is more favorable to easy network connections etc. I am not very network savy and do not understand the majority of the language in configuring things. I have read your WideFS manual and it is not clear to me what I need to do. Can you for see any reason that WideFS may not work on this small home network? My desktop is hard wired to the router and the laptop is wireless. Your repsonse and advice is much appreciated.
  13. HI Peter, thank you for the quick and thurough response. Yeah, I am not real sure whre to look at this point. Just flight sent me a gau package that I am going to try. I think my problem may be in the AI Bridge package after reading your post. I do believe that there is an AL Bridge in FSInn. Maybe it is not working properly. Well obviously it is not working properly. Thanks for giving me another place to look.
  14. Hello Peter, first I want to say what a great product you have given us all. Thank you Here is my strange issue. I have many payware aircraft. All of which I have flown online. At one time I flew the PSS 777 and the TCAS worked great. NOw, after some months of not flying it, a reformat several months ago of my HD, and the chnage to my laptop to use FSInn, the TCAS Swill not work while online. Before we go any further, I want to say that I tried FSInn on the desktop and the same TCAS issue prevails. If I use default aircraft offline, the TCAS shows them all perfectly. But, when I get online, no planes on TCAS. Its funny, I flew with a friend today, the exact same PSS 777 model, and he had me on TCAS. He is using FSInn as well and I believe the full version of FSUIPC as am I. My mIsc settings are 40nm and flight in the TCAS section as are his. All of my other planes work perfectly, even the PSS 757. I have reinstalled the plane and still the same issue. Can you please offer some guidance to resolve this issue? Just Flight support is at a loss now too. Should I reinstall FSUIPC? And, how should I go about making sure the old install is completly gone from all areas of my machine? Many, many thanks for your time and response.
