1. I downloaded the new version for a trial before buying.

a few seconds after opening the program for the first time I got a "TRIAL PERIOD OVER......" message. I installed it on two other PCs and got the same message.

On Feb 2nd I downloaded your first version but never did try it out (see my post above). After my experience over the past two weeks with a product very much like yours (more expensive and still will not install completely) I am not going to buy independent software without trying it first.

If you can arrange to get me a working trial version I will probably buy it.

  2. Once again, I spent another hour trying to get the "Airport Information Center" to function. Almost had it for a bit.Still no access by entering ICAO but for a time it actually gave me the nearest airports (About 900 of them listed by closest first). That function stopped working after PC shutdown/restart

I can never get to step 3. I have run makerunwys.exe in the following ways.

    I) With FSX running on both machines

II}With FSX running on secondary only

III)With FSX running on primary only

In all the above tried makerunwys.exe, on primary PC, across network from primary to secondary, and vice. versa

IV) With FSX running on Primary and WideFS on secondary with PCManager

Tried all the usual combinations of makerunwys.exe

All filed and there are probably other things I tried but forgot.

Both PCs are Win7-64 bit, both are running FSX with Acceleration Pack

Both PC have network access to all files and folders

    UAC is definitely "off"

PLEASE....find the bug in this feature and fix it.

The Airport Information Center and Communications tab are the main reasons I bought this software.

  3. Why not simply run MakeRwys correctly, then copy the files it generates from the FS root folder, to wherever that program wants them?
Nah....Your way is too logical. THEIR way requires FSX to be on both PC, and the makerunwys portion of installation is a 4-step process. The steps are unknown ;) and one may proceed only if the previous step was/is done correctly.

Good News However. I finally got the %$^&%$# thing done! Went to main PC as you indicated but ran makernwys.exe with the network active and FSX directory addressed from main FSX PC. Steps 3 and 4 (whatever they are) then concluded successfully.

  4. Thank you Pete. I was expecting something like this to be the case. There are several of us who have tried numerous combinations and permutations trying to get this portion of that program to work (naturally it's the main reason we bought the thing). Using WideFS, it provides lots of info/controls that FSUIPC already manages ok.. The "missing" part is to provide Complete airport info on the fly.

After a series of 19 emails with their support, and still no clear directions re. installing, I have surrendered and am writing the program off until someone figures it out.

  5. Using version 4.41 and then 4.43 the same message:

    Failed to make RunwaysCSV Files

Failed to make FStarRC RWS File

These messages are at the conclusion of the normal process of reading Airports, etc.

I do not use the FStar RC program (at least I believe I do not  )

This is occurring while running makerwys.exe from one PC to another using my home network.

This is the process required by the FSPS program "Flight Simulator Manager" or I certainly would not be doing it this way.

Is there some way to correct it or is the goof tied to the FSPS procedure?

    Thanks for help

    Neal H

  6. I understand the instructions you are repeating Achilles but as I have already stated above

    :

TRY IT AGAIN AND CANNOT GET PAST STEP 1.

delete settings.ini file, restart FS Manager, and stuck at step 1.
I get the message that says re-initialization successful, proceed to step 1 but nothing happens after that.

We exchanged lots of emails a couple of days ago when you tried to help me.

No one else seems to have this problem so it must be something wrong here.

I uninstalled the program, did a registry clean, reinstalled it, and still cannot get past step 1.

    I HATE Computers!!!

  7. I have spent hours trying to get the feature that is the most important (to me) to run. Everything else works just great in Flight Sim Manager.

The instructions are almost non-existent regarding this feature and 19 emails to/from support have not gotten me past step 2 in the setup.

Here is what I tried last based on support email:

    1. FSX running on FSX PC

    2. FSX and FS Manager running on 2nd PC. This will be the PC used to monitor flights.

3.Go to Settings re-initialize FS Manager

4.Click on step 1 and it says ok

5.click on step 2 and ok

    6. Told to run makerwys.exe on FSX PC except WideFS will not connect with FSX running on both PCs so I close FSX on 2nd PC

    7. open windows exploreron FSX PC and run makerwys

    8. NOTHING happens

TRY IT AGAIN AND CANNOT GET PAST STEP 1.

delete settings.ini file, restart FS Manager, and stuck at step 1.

Can someone PLEASE give me step by step directions that will install the Airport Information Centre.

Sorry to say this, but someone needs to.

FSPS: you are putting out some neat programs (I have four of them) but you really need to spend a lot more effort in providing complete, easy to follow instructions fot these programs.

This is exactly what a reviewer at Simflight. com said in mid 2010:

I read through the manual after and followed along only to find that the first thing I needed to do, the initialization, is mentioned near the end of the manual, not at the beginning. So, I continued with the initialization which is not fully automated either folks. You will have to double-click a program that’s opened in a folder for you as one of the steps. This really should have been completely automated instead of broken down into 4 steps which are mandatory. It’s not like you can’t stop halfway through and use the software. They all must be completed so why even make it a 4 step process that the user has to click his or her way through?
8. After lots f install/reinstall I finally have #2 PC back. WideFS works perfectly as before so there is no problem. However, now it is described as "FS98Eliminator" when loaded.

Has that always been there and I just didn't see it? As far as I know, this is the most recent version ( 6.8.4.4, downloaded it yesterday from update site), Just curious.

  9. I open it as administrator, everything loads ok, all tabs open when selected. However no data is available. According to the instructions I went to the system setup, selected US, then went to SETUP Tab. The manual shows: EXTRAS-INITIALIZATION-RE-INITIALIZATION but I do not have EXTRAS. My Settings Tab has step 1, step 2, step 3, step 4,re-initialize.

I click on re-initialize but nothing happens and the steps are still gray.

This is on a PC without WideFS (if that matters). My FSUIPC (and WideFS) are registered versions.

This looks like a super piece of software but I am not smart enough to get it up and running.

Please.....someone guide me along with this.

    Thanks in advance

    Neal Howard

  10. I dislike posts that are unpleasant in the main and would prefer using PM instead of a forum reply but as you do not accept PMs:

Pete, you obviously did not read the full description of my topic. My query is referring to : Cockpit Status Multifunction Utility For Any Aircraft which is a utility provided by forstmeier in the User Contributions section of this forum.

Nowhere do I mention installing fsuipc. My request is for help using it. Then you seem to think I am unable to install fsuipc when I refer to documentations and the use of fsuipc. I have had fsuipc for several years and, yes, it is registered. My skill with using it is, unfortunately, not good so I come here for help.

    finally you say

You aren't making any sense......Full stop
If I am not making any sense and you admit:

I've no idea what you are trying to do
, then why bother to try and humiliate me with your response?

fsuipc is a wonderful utility and I would not want to be without it. However, I find it very difficult to ask for help on this forum because of your tendency to respond as though the questioner is incapable of performing the simplest task .

I was a flight instructor in the USAF and later spent 25 years teaching university mathematics. Condescension and humiliation are poor teaching methods.

Can you not be a bit more courteous to the folks who appreciate (and pay for) your utility?

    Neal Howard

  11. I have downloaded this utility but do not know how to install it. The instructions say to "create a desktop connection using fsuipc"

    How do I do that?

I have read and reread all the fsuipc documentations without success. The answer is probably there but it always seems to elude me when I want to try something.

    EDITED for Clarity.

I downloaded the Cockpit Status Multifunction Utiliy that formeister has linked in the User Contributions section of this forum. It looks like a very useful utility. However the installation instructions are a bit lacking. After unzipping the file the next (and last)install instruction says to "create a desktop connection using fsuipc".

I have a registered version of fsuipc installed (updated yesterday) and working as it should.

I have the unzipped Cockpit status.........utility in a folder but can put it on the desktop if necessary.

I do not know how to link up/connect/program/or whatever to use fsuipc to operate/load/show the panels provided by this utility.

I hope this revised post is adequate to explain what help I need.

    Your help appreciated.

Every time I read one of the posts about writing .DLLs, Lua scripts, etc. I am truly envious.

Once I was a whiz with machine language (CDC-1604), FORTRAN, and BASIC so that makes me "an old codger" and slow to learn.

    Regards to all;

    Neal Howard

  12. Please pardon my ignorance but my knowledge of FSUIPC is very limited. Your progran looks great but I don't have the slightest idea about how to

    "Installation

    ================

    - Create a Desktop Connection

    - using FSUIPC"

The most I have done is to use LUA scripts and calibrate controls. My FSUIPC IS a registered version.

Will someone help me out here?

Thanks and best regards to all.

  13. After a few weeks of inactivity I went back into FSX yesterday only to find that MCE will no longer work. It loads but almost immediately there is a NET Framework error. It appears to be a problem with verification. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times with no luck. Non of the installations give me the chance to enter my serial number.

Can someone tell me how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  14. Thanks for the helpful post HB. I will give the macro a second look. I was using the Saitek panel when I started this thread but sold it and switched to the Vrinsight M-Panel. It is a vast improvement over the Saitek and does most of what I want. The Combo panel is really appealing but seemed a bit too large for my crowded"cockpit". Sure would be nice to actually see, touch, or try out some of these add-ons instead of ordering sight unseen.

I went to your web page for a look...very nice and added to my bookmarks.

  15. Thanks for all the input Paul.

I am especially pleased that you included the start routine for the A2A B-377. I flew a KC-97 for about 1500 hours and naturally bought the A2A sim. Unfortunately, I am not much of a flight engineer and start-ups and I didn't mesh well (translation; too many fires). I will give your script a try.

Btw...Our flight engineer NEVER had any problems starting up regardless of the outside air temps so maybe A2A overdid it a bit.

    Regards

    Neal

  16. I have always used the programming software from Saitek primarily because of the three modes capability. However, with FSX I don't often use modes 2 or 3. With my registered version of FSUIPC can I get the same kind of control settings that the Saitek software provides?

If I change over do I remove the drivers as well as the programming software? The system consists of a Pro Yoke, Pro Rudder Pedals, and a second Pro Throttle quadrant.

Help and advice appreciated. Please keep it simple... I'm an old flyboy that isn't as quick as he used to be.

    Regards

  17. I don't want to hijack this topic but Pete's reply concerning Saitek using 3rd party software illegally caught my attention.

Even threatening to prohibit FSUIPC use with Saitek connected gear (which I can do by reading the USB manufacturer code in software) doesn't move them.
Can you provide a bit more information regarding this Pete? What 3rd party software are they using? Lots of Saitek users out here with FSUIPC and your threat to Saitek (if carried out) would cut us off??

    Neal Howard

  18. I am using FS9 and have downloaded and purchased the version which is 3.98. Is there a later version or can i download the FSX version to be used with FS9 ??
3.98 is correct and no, you cannot use 4.60 (for FSX) with FS9.

As for your Saitek dissatisfaction: You haven't really given enough info about the problem for any advice. I have the Pro series yoke with one throttle quadrant, a second Saitek Pro quadrant, and Saitek rudder pedals. All work well and have been fault free. The yoke rarely needs calibration and is quite realistic in feel.

If you use your setup for FSX only you can get by without even installing the Saitek software. If you want all three modes then you need the software. Using the programming software is quite easy for button and slider assignments and is all I use it for. I have a profiles for certain individual aircraft along with a default profile for all the rest.

Frankly though, It is so easy to use FSX control assignments, some LUA scripts by guenseli and others (on this forum), and FSUIPC that I am sorely tempted to remove Saitek programming software and redo everything.
