  1. I can't say enough good things about Michael and his expertise. I was struggling for 2 years trying various tweaks, fixes, add-ons represented to be able to fix problems only to continue to experience random ctd's, low frame rates and general poor performance. I spent money foolishly trying to upgrade my system with advice from a computer shop that knew nothing about FSX. (It is apparent that most do not know much about this game!) I contacted Michael in mid November and he got me started down the path of building a new system from scratch which I did with his help by phone. I acquired the scenery add-ons he specified and installed as instructed. We hooked up on line where he did his magic and all I can say is I have been loving life ever since. It turns out i had no idea how fantastic FSX is but I do now. I have had no ctd's. The only complaint would come from my better half who wonders what the hell I am doing spending hours flying. If she only knew! Michael has spent over 10 hours with me between phone calls, emails, and on line via WindowsLive. So far I have spent a whopping $150 with him and told him he was way too cheap! He is the best bargain I have ever found and the only one I have found who really truly does understand how to properly set up FSX. I will be a long term customer of Michael's!

  2. Just curious what happens to the fsx.cfg file with Xtreme. I always run Xtreme before loading fsx but I noticed that if I run fsx without Xtreme some add ons don't show up. For example, PMDG 747 does not show up if I run just fsx but does show up if I run Xtreme first. Not a problem I don't think. I just want to understand exactly what is happening.

  3. Well what do you know. I installed the UIautomationcore.dll as recommended by Akila an it may have done the trick. FSX now runs with 2G+ of free memory where before it was under 100. I just did a flight and was able to taxi off. This one always caused a shut down just at landing. Maybe I can actually move forward now.

  4. Stillhaving random crashes with planes like QW 757 and CapSim. I can't even get Cap Sim to takeoff beforeFSX shuts down. QW crashes right afterlanding. I just upgraded to W7 64bit with 8G of ram and the nVidia N560GTX. My page files are set to 9216-10420. I monitor the resource of physical memory and not that it shows 8191 total, about 4000 cached and available but the free drops below 100 and sometimes goesto 0. I suspect that is fsx shutsdown. Any insight would begreatly appreciated. Thanks.

  5. I was able to copy two specific a/c profiles from the old config file to the new and it worked then I thought why not just switch to using Profiles and I did. That is really the way to go. I just renamed my Lear - 45 to Twin Engine Jet and added the stock CRJ and 737and it worked. I also deleted the "paint..." portion of the description for each of those so that all paints would be picked up of course it worked. I will be installing Captain Sim 757 today and expect it to work too. Thanks Pete! Great addition to your program.

  6. I was hoping Xtreme would solve my problem with random shut downs which usually occur at an airport either right after landing or before takeoff. The error is usually "fatal error...program shut down..." and sometime I get the message that it is out of memory. Here is my system PC Specs AMD x4 Athalon II 640 3 .0GHz x 4, 4.0 GB Kit DDR 3 Ram super talent, Mobo MSI NF 750-G55 AM3 DDR3 Dual PCIe Hybrid SKI capable, NVIDIA GetForce 9800 GTX+. I have ordered the nvidia GTX 560 but I suspect that will only improve the graphics, not solve the mem problem. I run Radar Contact and have it set it as an add on in Xtreme. When I watch my memory guage, it shows total 3327, about 1200 cashed, 2000 available, and 850 free. The free drops to sometimes less than 10 when running fsx.

My tech expertise is limited albiet getting better trying to solve this problem but I need help. I love fsx WHEN IT WORKS but these random shut downs are frustrating. I think my system is more than adequate but I am open to suggestions. Would switching to 64 bit help?

  7. I set up a/c specific settings for each, I use a ch eclipse yoke and ch 6 lever throttle q. Similar settings work great on stock fs 737, 747, Lear, CRj and others but wierd things are happening with the 767 & 757. First I went in to fly and the throttle lever 1 initiated reversers and spoilers and the auto pilot doesn't work in either plane. I double checked settings, reasigned and recallibrated but still had the same problem. Then I looked at the ini and noticed that only axis assignments were made for those planes, no joystick callibrations so I copied the js calls from a 737, pasted them below the axis assignments and renamed to the specific plane and that seemed to solve the throttle/reverser/spoiler problem. But I sill have one with the autopliot in both planes is not moving the ailerons or elevator. It does hold the speed. I read on the level d forum an old post saying that he had the same issue (in early 09) and his only fix was to let fs control those axis. So my questions are: 1) why didn't the callibrations post to the ini? 2) can I set up a specific a/c axis assignment to where fs controls the axis? Is the the middle option "send to fx." rather than to fsuipc assuming that IS the problem? 3) Am i the only one on the planet experiencing this?

  8. I am fairly new at this but have a registered copy of FSUIPC with Ch Eclipse Yoke and the 6 Lever Throttle Q. I have successuflly set up 3 airplanes, C182, B737, and the Lear using short names so that the variations work the same. My questions are can't I just copy the settings for a say B737 and paste those into the ini and rename to the. B 767? I have also considered converting to profiles and starting over except the settings for both the Lear and 737 are essentially what I would use for a twin engine jet so couldn't I just use those in the profile setting? I would think I would first want to back up my working ini file and put it someplace safe then make the changes and see what happens. I guess if I screw up I can always put the working ini back, right? I know this sounds pretty basic but I have learned the hard way to be sure you know what you are doing before messing with software.
