  1. Hi, I've been looking for an easier way to manage my Profiles in FSUIPC and decided to try building my own tool. I started working with Excel VBA and have developed several of the modules that I feel would be needed to have a worthwhile Profile Manager. I have a few of the modules completed (see below). Right now they are designed for use only on my system but, with a bit of work, the code could be modified to allow it's use on other systems. I'd be interested to hear from my fellow FSUIPC users to see if there might be any interest in making it available to the community (probably free-ware but possibly donation-ware depending on the effort it takes to get it completed) . I'd also be interested in any suggestions you might have regarding additional modules that might make it a better tool. Also, if Pete is listening, I need to know if this in any way violates the EULA. Thanks. Charlie Here are a few screen-shots:
  2. Paul, Thanks. I finally got it to work. I had to manually enter the' "Delta" settings (256) for each brake axis. In your case, those are lines 9 & 11. For some reason FSUIPC did not automatically add those lines when I created the range settings and I'm really not sure why they are needed. Thanks again, Charlie
  3. Hi Paul, Thanks for your suggestion. I'm having a problem getting it to work and I have a few questions: On the FSUIPC "Axis Assignment" page, how do you have the "type of action required" section set up (send to & assignment)? Would you show me your entire "[Axis]" section of your 182 "INI" file? Did you make any changes to the "Right Brake" & "Left Brake" settings in the "[JoystickCalibration]" section of the "INI" file? Charlie
  4. Thanks for getting back to me. I have a problem when using the pedals for landing. My setup at home is not the best and sometimes my pedal unit slips causing the aircraft to veer off the runway. Using the brake button assures that both brakes are applied evenly. I can get by without it but I still don't understand why, for this aircraft, the brake button stops working after applying and then releasing either of the pedals.
  5. This is a conversation I had on the A2A forum: ME: When I first load the 182 into FSX, the brake button assigned to my joystick works fine. When I apply either of the differential brake pedals and then release it, the brake button no longer works. Both the button and the pedals are programmed in FSUIPC. Any ideas? A2A: This is as intended and consistent with default FSX behavior. ME: I notice that with many other aircraft (e.g., default 172 & A2A Cub) the button assigned to the FSUIPC brake function (65588) will continue to work once all differential braking is released. Is there a setting in the "aircraft.cfg" that is doing this or is it caused by specific programming for the A2A 182? A2A: No, it's not settable. Fsuipc does some things with the brakes differently than stock fsx does and we have to make it that way to keep it compatible. If, as A2A says, this is caused by something FSUIPC does, why does it function differently with different aircraft? Is there a way to get the brake button to work with all aircraft even after differential brakes are applied? Charlie
  6. Thank You !!! The problem was that a copy of the Prepar3D.exe got into my FSX folder. I have no Idea how it happened but when I removed it things worked fine. I've had problems with missing or corrupted files before but I never would have thought that an extra file would cause this much trouble. Thanks again for your dedication to not only creating and constantly updating this fantastic product, but also for providing top notch customer service. Charlie
  7. Hi Pete, I'm not sure what to do. I'm running FSX not P3D. I do have P3D installed but my problem is with running "FSX.exe". Charlie
  8. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I went to the FAQ and tried the Loader file. I see that it added "FSUIPC4_Loader.dll" to my "dll.xml" file. It seemed to help and I was able to run FSX. However FSUIPC does not appear in the addon drop-down. Here is the FSUIPC.fsx.log: ********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.931 by Pete Dowson ********* Reading options from "K:\FSX\Modules\FSUIPC4.ini" Running inside Prepar3D v2 on Windows 7 ... 9. I had to do a DVD repair on my FSX. After re-installing 4.931 I started getting this error when starting FSX: If I click yes I get a fatal crash with the details pointing to FSUIPC. If I click no FSX starts normally but with no FSUIPC. I've tried going back to a previous version but still got the error message. I've also tried removing my INI file. Please help - I need my FSUIPC. Charlie
  10. I've working with PMDG support on a strange problem I was having with throttle control on the 777. I would taxi to the active, enter the runway when cleared, run the engines up to 55%, and then hit TOGA. The engines would spool up to full power and I then advanced my Saitek throttles full forward. Within a second or two FSX would permanently freeze. The cursor would move but FSX had stopped responding to any clicks or keyboard inputs. At first PMDG thought it was a VAS problem put I was able to rule that out by watching monitoring VMS with Process explorer. PMDG then said that they had seen a similar problem in early testing that was related to FSUIPC processing the throttle axis. I moved my throttle control to FSX and the problem went away. I would really prefer to use FSUIPC so is there anyway to tweak it to avoid this problem? BTW - This is the final response from PMDG: "It's a hard and fast compatibility problem unfortunately - our code and FSUIPC both basically use the same method whereby the joystick is intercepted outside of FSX via Windows functions. It's really one of the other, not both." Charlie Felix
  11. Thanks Pete, that really helps. Charlie - KSBP
  12. It seems that button programming will only allow one FS command to be assigned to a button. Is is possible to program one button to initiate multiple FS commands? E.G. - program button x to initiate both "Throttle3 Decr" and "Throttle4 Decr". Charlie
  13. Hi Pete, Just thought I'd let you know how things turned out. After fooling around with my setup for another day, I decided to bite the bullet and reinstall Vista and FSX. Fortunately, not too long ago I built a dedicated FSX machine so there weren't too many non-FS applications to reinstall. After the Vista install, FSX loaded as it should and the SimCommect folders appeared in winsxs. After a couple days of trying to find all of the install programs for my addon aircraft and scenery, and tyring to remember all of the tweaks to the CFG files, I have thigns back online. I'm not sure what exactly went bad but I sure hope I don't have to do this too often. Thanks for all your help. Charlie Felix - KSBP
  14. Pete, Sorry that I wasn't very clear. Yes, there are 8,057 folders under winsxs. I do have the folder options set to show all files & folders. When I do a search in the winsxs folder for the word "simconnect", there are six files (no folders) found. All six files are in the "Manifets" folder. There are 3 with a .cat extension and 3 with .manifest extensions. For each of the 3 .cat files, there is a .manfest file with the same name (attached is a jpg file showing their names). There are no x86_Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect_... folders on any of my 2 hard drives. Charlie
  15. Hi Pete, Thanks for responding so quickly. I tried the repair that you suggested in your reponse but it did not create any of the x86... folders you mentioned. It did create another Cat/Manifesr pair. Is it possible to create those folders manually and, if so, is the simconnect.dll the same in all 3? I ran a re-install of FSUIPC4 after the repair and the following is the log: Installer for FSUIPC4.DLL version 4.26 Looking in registry for FSX install path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0 Parameter"SetupPath" SetupPath="E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\" Checking version of FSX.EXE: ... 16. Hi, I've been using FSUIPC4 for a while but I just had a situation that required a re-install of FSX. The FSX re-install went fine, and when I installed FSUIPC4 there were no errors and it registered OK. However, I just cant get the Add-Ons menu to appear. In looking through this forum, I saw some indication that this might be caused by a Simconnect problem but I don't seem to have some of the folders (files) shown in the posts. I took a lookin my winsxs folder and the only simconnect items there were "Cat" and "Manifest" folders. I didn't see any Simconnect folders with DLL files. I've now tried several reinstalls, with and without adding the SP1 and SP2 upgrades but no luck. I am running Vista 32. Any help would be gratly appreciated. 17. Thanks for you help. I re-tried the calibration on both toe brakes settting the low value to approx. 300 (slight brake pressure) and the high to 14500 (just short of full on). The reverse setup seems to be correct. But I still have the problem of the Diff. Brake message coming on momentarily when I take my feet off the base of the pedals. I also tried various null and sensitivity setting with no luck. I'm thinking that I may be having a hardware problem with the equipment or my recent instal of the FSX demo is causing a problem. I'll keep trying. Charlie
  18. I am having a problem getting the toe brakes on my CH Pedals (USB) to work properly. When I try to calibrate them in FSUIPC, there is usually a 0 value when the pedals are at rest. However, when I rest my feet of the pedals with pressure in the brake-off direction, the value goes to -1598. If I calibate for 0, I get diff. brakes when I put my feet on rhe pedals or change rudder position. If I calibrate for -1598, I get diff. braks on nearly all of the time. Is there anything I can do to limit FSUIPC from recognizing negative values for this axis? BTW - I am using a registered version 3.70.
  19. I had this problem and found that I had to uncheck the "Filter" boxes on the left and right brakes (I have CH pedals). Charlie
