Just a quick postscript to say that although I haven't yet received my registration key, my existing (C++, FSUIPC3, FS9) compiled programs work fine through FSUIPC4 to FSX. Hopefully with the key, GPSOut will interface with Fugawi Maps as in FS9.
Thank again,
George

Thanks Pete, downloaded successfully.

Pete,
I have just purched a registration for FSUIPC4 from SimMarket but the link to http://www.schiratti.com/dowson appears to be broken. Is 'Install_FSUIPC4_4011_revised.zip' mentioned in 'Other Downloads and Updates' now the preferred installer?

Thanks for the update Pete. It doesn't sound too promising for the weather features.

Hi Pete,
Now that the retail version of FSX is available (got mine in the UK today), can you say when FSUIPC 4 will be made available. I desperately need to use the visibility settings.

I've just realised that I didn't have the "Display intersections" icon checked, this is why it didn't display. However, which are the 5 waypoints not found?
George
-
When I load a particular flightplan I get the message:
"5 waypoints in this FP are not found in the scenery. These waypoints are
removed from the FP".
The first of these seems to be "DAWLY",which is shown as a triangle. I have the latest AIRAC and DAWLY is in the AIRWAY.txt file.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

All vectors are 3D. For 2D, set the third component to zero which is quite adequate for small distances. If the block of airspace is delimited by two heights, you simply check as above then check max/min height. Unless the heights are wildly different, then you need to use spherical projection.

Here is an example. Taking pairs 1-2, 2-3 etc, the blue angles are positive and the red angles are negative. The sum should be zero, however with rounding errors I always use abs(sum) < 180.

Hmm the 360 would not seem right if the poly is an L shape
Yes, I can assure you that it does work for any shaped polygon.
The signed angle means that all angles should be measured either clockwise or counterclockwise. Hint, use a vector cross-product.

Taking each pair of polygon points in turn, calculate the signed angle between the vectors from the aircraft to the points and accumulate. If the absolute value of the result is greater than 180 degrees, the aircraft is inside the polygon, if it is less, it is outside.

It certainly sounds like a virus. Try booting in safe mode and re-running a full system scan.

No it doesn't, that is the entry for VFRTerrain, not JFVFR1.

Seriously, I am not happy that you are editing the scenery.cfg file. It is much better to use Settings/Scenery Library and make the modifications here.
Before you delete JFVFR1, check which one is enabled by using Settings/Scenery Library/Edit area. If it is not scenedb, use the "Delete Area" command then "Add Area" and browse to scenedb.
George

Does is it mean must delete the other?
Yes
How on earth did it get there?Finger trouble? :P
-
No, the one in scenedb is correct.

Georgr, did your friend, by any chance now, found different drivers to use?.
Unfortunately he now has a different card, but Alaster seems to be happy with 78.01.

Hi Nick,
As I said above, I have no problem with split screens using the 71.84 drivers. In fact I may revert back to 66.81 as I am not too happy with 71.84 in in other respects.
George

Alistair,
I can't see that he has the scenery installed incorrectly otherwise he would not be seeing the VFR textures. The problem is the split screen when adding a second window. This is a known problem with the later 7 series drivers. Here is what one of my colleagues said:
The main problem I am experiencing with the latest 7 series drivers is a split screen in some instances, particularly when I open a second window, very annoying, as all the screen below the window freezes, but the simulator keeps running in the part of the screen above the window. Makes using the FMC etc for approaches rather difficult!

I think you have a problem with your video drivers. I have an FX6800 Ultra running the 71.84 driver an I have no problem:

 Sorry Pete, I read it as Name or E-mail address. Having said that, I didn't notice the key information on the order receipt. My eyes are dim, I cannot see
