  1. I think he means that he has a new Intel Core Duo Mac, and is running Boot Camp. With Boot Camp you can install the full version of XP Home, Professional or Media Center onto your partitioned hard drive. Is this correct Peter? If so than Yes, WideFS should work with an installed version of MSFS.

By the way, isn't this one of the signs that the end is near? You can use PC software on a Mac, and it actually runs as fast if not faster than a PC??!!!

  2. Yup, I 'played' with the G1000 too twice... it is a wonderful bit of equipment and so easy to master if you are a proficient flight simmer/PC nerd....

I would NOT recommend it for the old tundra-wheeled J-3 flyers of course..... who has time to punch up 15 screens while flying at tree-top level following the Stikine River..... :D

The Avidyne is almost as nice.... just a tad older.... love them both though... for longer flights with time to play with the panel

I'm pretty sure that the G1000 would want to hop out of the Cub, grow wheels and scoot back to Garmin... :D

  3. Yes, the real one has a G1000..... which is at the same time the 'problem' with any FS model of it...... currently there is no good G1000 available and we're still after a programmer who can make us one

Actually, Francois, I was commenting on both the real aircraft as well as the one being made for FS...

"Another key factor was the need for the Garmin G1000 'glass cockpit' avionics package which comprizes 3 monitor screens, similar to computer monitors, which give a massive amount of variable information for the pilot and co-pilot. However, no Garmin G1000 systems are available. Our little team scanned the entire FS community and found not one system to exist. However, in several people asking us to confer with Nick Pike, we found he was enthusiastic in creating a Garmin Avionics package. He is in the process of finishing this system up as this is being written. The Kodiak will thus be a 'first' to offer a 'Flight Simulator' version of the awesome Avionics package and will thus be a leap in state of the art panels as well as the Kodiak being that much more 'realistic' to the actual aircraft itself."

This quote was from William Ortis from Lionheart Creations LTD @ http://www.lionheartcreations.com/Kodiak.html

Pretty sweet, huh! Kofi was commenting that they're trying to release both the real as well as the FS version at about the same time. Now, having seen the G1000 in person and playing with it in the real world, I'd have to say it's the most advanced piece of avionics for GA to date (duh!!) :D . It's a pretty easy user interface (pretty much like a big Garmin 530 on steriods), however it's very diverse. The G1000 will do just about anything you want with the exception of make you a pot of coffee. As a matter of fact, and I'm not sure if Quest has optioned for this, but Lancair has a FMS style keyboard input for there G1000 panel which makes it easier for the real world pilot to input waypoints and, well just about everything into the G1000, however I can see how that would make it a bigger nightmare for the FS programmer. I believe Eaglesoft is making a Columbia 400, and staying away from the G1000, putting in the already made, and quite brilliant Avidyne panel they made for the Cirrus G20/22 variants. That being said, Quest actually had some design help from Lionheart from, what seems like the beginning. If that's the case, this project has been underway for over a year and a half. I'd imagine the FS version of the G1000, if it was started at the same time, would be well underway, and could be a pretty fully functional by the release date. Of course time will tell, as will some screenshots. So Francois, perhaps you should talk to Nick Pike, I know that you've always got something really cool up your sleve! By the way, I love everything that you publish over at FSAddon! Can't wait for the Sino jet!

  4. Francois,

That worked. It default installed into the "Programs" folder and I just extracted the files from there and transposed them into FS9. Thanks for all the help! I'm loving Harvey and Monroe... hmm... that came out wrong...

Side note: Have you considered doing Johnson Creek, Idaho? I might be moving up to Spokane, Washington, and I do have my PPL so perhaps if all goes well I could get you some photos!

  5. I'm not sure what the problem is either. I can choose different parking spots when I type in, for example KMYF, but when I go to Harvey or Monroe, or anyone that has a double entry, the only option is "Active Runway". The only recent install was Rana Inside: Flight Sim Manager. I think I remember doing a diagnostic on my scenery (thinking it would help) then this happened. But it only happens to certain airports, mostly all the FS Addon ones. Obviously this, I don't believe your fault at all. I'll digress though: C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator 9 is the path that I manually enter into the Harvey/Monroe installer. By the way the uninstaller worked just fine. I don't know of anyone else that has this problem. And I'm not a person that is known in the flight sim community, if anyone knows or has heard of this happening let me know please. By the way, here are what Harvey looks like right now...

  6. I take off "Program Files" and put it to my main FS9 folder. The error is happening when it's on the FS9 folder. Alsosome more attached pictures... I have 2 Harveys and 2 Monroes. I looked to see if this was happening to any other airport and it is, to PAKT. Guess what I have the Misty Forjds add on scenery too. Is there a connection? (not being sarcastic just wanna help figure out the problem). Here's the pics of the airport showing double. Notice that I can only select "Active Runway" there's no parking spaces. Also I flew around Harvey and Monroe, and there isn't any scenery at all. The planes are parked probably like they should if the scenery were there, but it's not, so there's planes in default hangers and just on plane dirt. I'll see if I can get a picture of that too later on. Right now I'm off to a Regional Paramedic meeting. By the way, thank you very very much for the quick reply Francois. One of the first things I do when I get off a shift is head right to the SimFlight website were I get the latest news on all that is FS. I love how it's laid back!

  7. When I installed Harvey and Monroe I got this error at the end of installation. I haven't run FS9 yet because I want to know if this is normal. Also I read on a post at the bottom that a few peoples installer didn't default to FS9 but to Program Files, mine did that too. I thought I did something wrong, but I've tried it twice with the same result. A pictures is attached of the error and the directory error.

    Thanks,
