  1. Well, I'll add my comment as well, FWIW. Flew a quickie around Seattle this morning and FS Cargo did exactly what it should do. It was mildly amusing but I fear that you've missed a bit of a trick here. I just think it's a wee bit simplified in it's ambition.

I think that there was an opportunity to build something more of an economic model around FS Cargo so that it actually matters whether you do well or not. As it stands, you can miss every deadline without penalty and have a miserable average score, but it doesn't affect anything other than your pride.

Inevitably, there will be comparisons with FSPassengers, not just because of the similarity in names. FSP includes a a reason to fly well and on time. If you don't, you won't make any money and you won't be able to fly your aircraft. I think that the absence of this element hurts FS Cargo. I don't think it's enough to praise the fact that pretty little boxes of freight appear on the ramp. They need to exist in a world where what heppens to them is important. In FS Cargo, I don't think that it is.

I understand that you intend to build on this initial release and I look forward to seeing where you can take it. For now, though, I think the job is only half done.

Sorry if that sounds a bit negative, but I guess I wouldn't have expected to much if it hadn't been hyped up so much by your marketing.

  2. Pete,

Me again - still trying to get things working OK with FSMEteo 6.01. I am using registered versions of FSMeteo 6.01, WideFS6.02 and FSUIPC 3.04. I'm using FSMeteo on a remote machine and WideFS is using TCP/IP - OS is XP/SP1.

When FSMeteo connects to load the wx every 6minutes and cycles through the in-range wx stations in FS2004 there is a slight but annoying pause or stutter as the data is download for each station. It seems to be related to FS2004 because there is no problem using it with FS2002 and its global weather.

I dare say there's some FSUIPC setting I should adjust, but I can't work out which one. I have read the FSUIPC and FSMeteo manuals but drawn a blank. I've tried to copntact Marc, but there's been no response.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

  3. Thanks for the answer Pete. I was afraid of that. I do understand the difference between local and global, but the implementation within FS9 still results in sudden changes. Also, I did not mean to imply that clouds, pressure and winds all changed simultaneously, but they do all change immediately when they do, individually, change.

If there's no plans to fix it then fine, I understand. However, if you try flying a heavy rather than a GA aircraft, you'll observe that as you go through local areas in quick succession, the weather simply flips as you coss the bounderies. It may _look_ pretty, but it's wholly unrealistic.

    Thanks anyway.

  4. Hi Pete,

I'm a registered user of FSUIPC3.04 and WideFS6.02. I'm using FSMeteo with FS9 across a TCP/IP network. Can I ask you if you are working with Marc P on any developments for MSFeteo? I'm asking you becuase there is no forum for FSmeteo that I'm aware of and Marc seems too busy to answer e-mails. My main gripe is the lack of graduated changes to the local weather with fs9. Winds, pressure and clouds all change immediately and it completely destroys any sense of realism. FS2k2 is/was far better in this respect and I'm pretty much ready to go back to it until this issue is resolved. As the smoothing of global weather is a function of FSUIPC, I wondered what efforts were being addressed to make this ahppen for the local wx in FS9?

    Thanks

  5. Hi Scott,

I have the previous version of ACLoader (the free one - I'm cheap!). I gave up using it when I traced a continuous handling problem I was having with the Botamer/Grabowski ERJ-145 to ACloader. I was getting significant handling and autopilot problems after changing the weight/blance and when I went back to the original aircraft.cfg, the problems went away. Consequently, I was somewhat shy of using it after that.

I happen to be in love with Ralph Tofflemire's 742 but the load utility that ships with that only handles pax version and I want an accurate cargo load. I'm considering the new ACLoader, but before I cough up the cash I'd like to know if v4.0 been tested with the RFP 742 and are you aware of any snags using it with this or other payware aircraft?

    Thanks

  6. Sadly, the ALLFILES .zip doesn't contain all the files. The newer stuff (ie newer than a couple of months) is not there. Is there going to be any move by Lago to improve the performance of this FTP server? It's rather ironic that on their news page the company is exhorting its customers to visit the FSSE Exchange but the server is incapable of servicing their requests if they try to DL something.

I've been trying for days to get my electronic hands on the new KJFK file with no luck. It's becoming increasingly annoying. If Lago is unable to provide a reliable means of accessing these files, why not just upload them to Avsim or Flightsim?

  7. Josef,

Are you doing all the testing yourself? If so, maybe that's why you're encountering the problems you are. Surely external testers would provide a much wider cross-section of machine cofigurations which would ensure that the testing was more thorough.

I think that this application is potentially brilliant, but it really needs to be subjected to really rigorous testing and it seems to me that this has not happened sufficiently well so far.

  8. I regret to leave a post like this, but I've paid 25euro for a product that is not even close to being ready for a commercial release. Initially, I could at least install and run it, but I was getting the error 13 message on selecting times. I have noted the requirement to specify a 24-hour clock in the OS, but that has made no difference (I am running the beta 1.02). I have since changed the AFCAD file for KROC and now I cannot get the map for that airport to install. I have tried to de-install and re-install TrafficBoard, but now I get an error 28 and I cannot even get the application installed.

This is clearly not acceptable and I have asked for a refund from SimMarket. I would encourage Josef to continue to deveop the application because it shows great promise, but to charge people money for it in its current state is, I believe, fundamentally dishonest.

  9. I've been trying all morning to register a couple of products without success. I've done this many times in the past and I've changed nothing on my system. I've mentioned this in another thread and had no response.

I get as far as entering personal details then I get a 500 error. This has been happening for the last three hours. I'm keen on your stuff, but not that keen. I'll try again Monday, but after that, I guess it's your loss.

I have to wonder if whether you want a sale or not.

    Thanks

    Andy
