  1. Thanks for the answer... I guess that now this goes back to Garmin. Regards, Alex
  2. Hi all, I am a registered user for FSUIPC, but this question is NOT related to it (I think). I have a Garmin eMap unit using O/S 2.75. I connected it to my PC's COM connection with the original Garmin cable, and fired MSFS after copying the relevant GPSOut files in the modules directory. It does not work ;-) My question is: is it supposed to work with my unit? If yes, what is the correct ini setup, or, what shoud I do to make it work? Thank you for the attention. Al
  3. It is a memory issue. Don't expect too much from a 32Mb card. I have a 64Mb but plan to move to a 128 or even more as soon as possible. Considering solely the multi megabyte textures people slap on aircraft, there is no wonder that memory is a problem. In addition, whenever weather is involved, visibility and memory are totally interdependent. Adding the 3D clouds does not help either. My advice - go for a 128Mb card as soon as you can and ignore Microsoft's 8Mb minimum spec - unless you can to live with pre-FS2002 graphics :-). Thanks for the heads up on the new nVidia drivers. I hope they fixed all the FS issues... Best, Alex
  4. DOUBLE WOW! This is one of the more accurate description of what a Parhelia card can practically give a FSimmer! I have been browsing the Net for FS-relevant information regarding Parhelia's 3D performance, and here I see that you use the same addons which are "dear" to me, including the UT. I imagine that you spend quite a while around the EGLL where UT traffic can really bring any system to its proverbial knees. I am encouraged by your "double digit" performance under these circumstances, so Parhelia is back on my nice-to-have list. On the dual screen however, please accept a hint. You are perfectly right when you say that there is a parallax problem, but that can easily be solved (partially) . You just display the forward view in the "left" monitor and the forward-right view in the "right" monitor. Of course that might pose a problem to the person sitting in the 1st Officer seat :-), and won't solve the monitors gap problem, but this is as close you can get without spending $$$ on a collimating display. BTW, you should use the same trick with the Parhelia, with the added advantage of a wider field of view. Best, Al
  5. Sorry to barge in. The "black" (or rather brown) horizon etc. usually happens when the memory resources reach their limit. I experinced it in the past, and a PC reboot fixed the issue. It might also be a driver issue since in my case, I experienced wierd texture behaviour (not drak horizon related) and wildly variable FPS with the latest nVidia drivers (52.16 I believe). All of them were memory-related. Everything came back to normal when I reverted to the older original Prophet Hercules drivers - my card is a Prophet III. It seems that while allegedly improving performance, nVidia pulled some safeguards that result in weird behaviour in certain situations. I worked with both the non-registered and currently using the registered FSUIPC and I can safely say that there is no relation between what you and I have experienced and FSUIPC. Best, Al
  6. It has happened to me several times, but each time I noticed that the Internet access was problematic. It seems that sometimes FS2K4 does not "know" how to deal with the internet connection status and instead of ignoring bad connections, it locks. In my case it had nothing to do with FSUIPC, etc.
  7. Thanks Ben, I actually plan to use a USB keyboard emulation hardware that would enable me to access up to 256 different inputs assigned to key "macros". FSUIPC is used to access the procedures that MS left out from the keyboard assignment option. And yes, I agree with your point about the "double assignment". Currently I am actually building an Excel sheet that would allow me to plan the assignment and more - including the pricing of the setup based on the type and quantity of specialized switches that will connect to the emulator. It is amazing how expensive these switches can get, and how many of them I would need... The registered FSUIPC matched my expectations in terms of user firendliness, flexibility and comprehensiveness of the covered FS functions. Now what remains to be seen is the delays between the keypresses and actual FS reaction. I guess that I will be spending thebetter rest of the week at planning and prototyping, not programming . Best, Al
  8. This is perfect. Thanks for the swift answer Pete. Now I'm off to purchasing FSUIPC license. Regards, Al
  9. Hello, I plan to use a programmable USB keyboard emulator and I was wondering if FSUIPC would recognize its output. I am not sure since I do not know FSUIPC's keyoard mechanism - does it read the keycodes by scanning the keyboard directly or does it capture the characters from the keyboard driver and takes it from there? If it works through the keyboard driver, I would gladly purchase it FSUIPC ASAP. Regards, Al
