simMarket can only make the discount offer available to customers that purchased the previous version at simMarket.
if the authors agree we can code a system where entering your previous fsc8 keys would validate you to receive the update price.... but this is up to the fsc devs.

it's not exactly like that god forbid,
the problem is that by switching the reviews off, we gain time! or in other words we do not loose time.
unfortunately it's not just about using the delete button... it's about actually defending the bad reviews from furious developers. i am aware that it is very important but i have just done it long enough and at the moment do not feel like using my little daily 24 hours doing that, there are other much more important, interesting and fulfilling things that need to be done during that time.
if we reintroduce the reviews system then it will have to be completely rewritten to allow more control... that takes (again) time and knowledge and not to be forgotten costs money, every programmer wants to be paid for, also ours. the times are not so rosy and priorities on what money is spent must be set, the review system is not at the top.
i agree with all you say... but that does not help the situation right now... we are dealing with it and removing the system temporally is a way to do so.

and the reply is... they are temporarily off... but do not expect them to reappear soon!
i am honestly fed up of dealing with disgruntled customers on one side and unhappy developers on the other (or the other way around, it doesn' t matter)therefore the reviews are off because it is a battle i cannot win as much as i am a defender of free and liberated speech. some make it bad for all unfortunately, this is the same on simMarket as anywhere in the world.
i anyone is serious about reviewing a product he is welcome to write a proper review with head and tail, pros and cons, screenshots and everything that belongs into a well written piece and submit it for publication on simFlight.

hey, i am reading! :-)
we will keep the forum and the site open. the forum for sure as it is totally operated by us. the site however is also operated by us but the domain is owned by the author... so should he pull it one day, it will be gone.
i still hope to hear from helge somehow and that some solution can be found.. as i am not happy that there will be no way for new customers to purchase a license in the future and i did not have the impression that the author wanted to make the product freely available.
a protest and support note could also be sent by anyone interested in keeping the product alive to email address support@fsnavigator.com.
even if helge wil not reply he should at least understand that there is interest in keeping the light on!

about keeping the website and SID/STAR database working:
helge mentioned that he would like to keep it up for one more year.
as the webmaster and host of the site i have absolutely no problem with that. the only issue i cannot control is that the domain itself is owned by helge. so when he pulls that or stops paying.... it will be gone and we will need to find an alternative which i think means resetting the ftp links in fsnavigator itself.
about passing the code to someone else: that is one of the questions asked in my reply to him, but i did not receive a reply.

Dear All,
i have received an email from the developer of FsNavigator, Helge Schroeder, requesting that we stop selling his product by Dec 31st 2007.
From that email it became clear that there is no FSX version development at all for this product, e.g. the product will stop existing.
I have replied with constructive suggestions about continuing to sell the product for those who still wish to purchase even if at a lower price, but was not given the honor of a reply so far.
so for now, this is a sad announcement for all that had hoped for a brighter future of this product.

this should be corrected by the fsc devs on their homepage.
but there is no way you could be misled into purchasing version 8 at simMarket, as that page is static and does not show a 'buy now' button making it impossible to purchase it.
