  1. Hi Colin, Take a look at the thread "wideserver FSX" - I had a similar problem that related to the ini delay and port permissions for both widefs and simconnect. That *may* solve your problem :)
  2. I might be able to shed some light on this one.. Have you recently used software that cleans the junk files from your system? If so, I've found a couple of them see the FSUIPC config file as a "junk file". You'll need to exclude your FS folder from the scan.
  3. Just re-read all of your replies and a rather obvious thought occurred re the simconnect constantly trying to work. Prior to moving PC's around, I installed the win8.1 update on the non FS machine. Although I had opened all the ports previously, it seems that the update changed the custom rules. Having opened the simconnect ports (and changing the delay to 120), everything works! As for your last comment.. you clearly have more faith in my computer skills than I do!! :)
  4. Hi Pete, Just noticed something. If I start by loading the "previous flight" as saved by FSUIPC, wideserver starts no problem If, however, I change an aircraft/location and then start the flight, wideserver doesn't load. This occurs irrespective of default aircraft or 3rd party addon. The problem with wideserver seems to generate at the point of changing the settings on the flight selection screen in FSX. Any thoughts?
  5. The website does say that there is no further support for SB. I think that old adage of "if it works, leave it alone" could well apply! Thanks for your help :)
  6. Yes, Pete. This was after the changes/calibration you suggested. That squawkbox thing is slightly concerning. I followed the installation instructions explicitly - would it be worth removing and reinstalling on the simulator side? The machine running the other side of it & wideclient was actually switched off when I grabbed that log.
  7. As per email (and more for the benefit of anyone else trying to read this thread for continuity purposes) I added the 30s delay, recalibrated the throttle commands and rebooted the pc. It has since started the wideserver element 3 times on the trot. Pete: you should have the email with the simconnect log... as stated in the email, your thoughts on it would be handy - especially if I need to edit something :)
  8. Hi Pete, Have resent the file zipped as requested. I did take on board what you said about simconnect, i'm just trying to give you as much information as I can so you can offer a solution that will allow me to use your software. Another thing that might be worth mentioning is that somebody suggested letting fsx rebuild the fsx.cfg file. I did this and wideserver fired up the first time but on closing and restarting it didn't. Could it be something in the fsx.cfg that is causing the problem?
  9. Incidentally, and this may be totally irrelevant, but FSUIPC is creating a default flight called "previous flight". I've not, to the best of my knowledge, asked it to do that so wondered if it might be somehow holding onto settings that is preventing a clean startup of the wideserver component?
  10. Log file sent to your email address. Just for the sake of checking, I've just run squawkbox across simconnect and it joined up to FSX without a problem.
  11. This is a clean install on a brand new machine. The only thing, other than your software, is the FSX version of UK2000 which was installed at point of manufacture less then a week ago. I've tried deleting the fsx.cfg and allowing it rebuild.. that worked once then it failed again.
  12. 13. ok, perhaps not... just started FSX and the same problem is back. I've deleted all the saved flights and changed aircraft, airports.. wideserver isn't starting up.
  14. I don't unfortunately but the flight was saved as "default" with the default flight checked. The aircraft was the FSX default A321 in a cold and dark state at EGBB, gate 1 (Gary Summons FSX scenery).
  15. I'd love to know why / how that made a difference but yep, changing the a/c and/or default flight did the trick... connected within seconds!! cheers, Pete! :)

For the sake of reference: Both PC's are on the same workgroup which. All the ports, and specifically 8002 and 9002, are allowed through the firewall in both in and out configuration. Drives are mapped and have full read/write access. I have no reason to believe that any of that is relevant as the problem seems to be that FSUIPC isn't starting wideserver but having read through a number of other posts, you do ask to confirm that the network setup is correct.

  18. ok, having had it running, I closed FSX but when I restarted, wideserver within FSUIPC doesn't seem to initialising. 19. Thanks, Pete.. all working :) No idea why it didnt work before because all i've changed is the removal of that F12 key.. maybe that was all it was :)
  20. ok, sorted the connection problem, silly error on my part :) So, back to the PTT thing.. i've deleted the F12 key setting. As you say i don't need both! What do i need to do from here? 21. ok, tried administrator setting and now it doesnt connect at all. I've put a fresh version of the client on and the log now shows: ********* WideClient Log [version 6.999b] Class=FS98MAIN ********* Date (dmy): 01/02/14, Time 13:43:59.210: Client name is FLIGHTSIM 187 Attempting to connect now 187 Trying TCP/IP host "AlpinePC" port 8002 ... 187 ... I dont use RW or any of the others. I didnt put wideserver.dll because the manual said not to. No, the error code was while FS was still running.. now there's no log at all! I have checked the windows firewall and the ports used are allowed through but just to be sure i turned off the firewall on both pc's and it's made no difference.
  22. Morning Pete :) Ok, in FSUIPC I now have, under the keypress tab, F12 = PTT on / PTT off, Parameter 0. In the Buttons + Switches tab, I've got the CH Yoke button linked to keysend 1-255 with parameters 1 & 2 respectively. I didn't put the widefs module into FSX as the manual said that wasn't required - was that right or have I misread that? The ini file on the networked pc is as original post. I don't know if it makes a difference but FSX = Win7 and Squawkbox4 = Win8. I have just checked that log file and it has the 249 connection confirmation so don't think it's a network issue? I have noticed in the logfile for the FSX side it has: 1205185 Error 10053: client socket disconnected at Client: removing (skt=9084) TCP Probably, this is pure muppetry on my part but any further thoughts? Many thanks :)
  23. Hi Pete, Hope you can help - i'm trying to use widefs to allow a PTT press from a CH yoke to operate the F12 command in SB4 running on a networked pc. I've done the things stated in the setup and widefs is connected fine. I've set up FSUIPC with the command linking the button press to PTT on and PTT off (which says SB3?) and configured it to repeat. (I've tried it not repeating too). With the SB comms window open in FSX, the tx light doesn't come on and I don't get the tx error sound that I do when pressing F12 on the machine running SB. I've entered the lines correctly into the ini file as per the manual (I think): [user] Log=Errors+ KeySend1=123,16 ; Press F12 KeySend2=123,24 ; Release F12 UseSendInput=Yes Is there something I've missed?
