  1. While we wait for Vic and team to get back from vacation I figure I'll start a topic about what system you all are using for Tower! 3D and how well it runs for you :) I am in the market for a new computer and have had my eyes on the Intel Skull Canyon NUC system. I want a very slim system due to space restrication and in particular this NUC for its visually pleasing appearence :) The specs are as follows:

    I7-6770HQ
    2.6 GHz
    4 cors
    16 GB DDR4 SDRAM
    Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580

What do you guys think. The major bottleneck might be the 580 Iris Pro graphics? On the other hand I hear it performs very well for beeing integrated although of course not the latest game titles. I rarely play games however and Tower 3D Pro would be the only game I would play.

  2. On that note, will the Pro version be more resourse hungry than the standard version? Why I ask is because I am selling my clunky gaming rig that I have used for flight simulatiors the last couple of years to move over to the Apple brand and their small Mac Mini for some light music production (and hopefully Tower3D Pro). That machine does not have a dedicated graphics card but rather integrated graphics in the form of Intel Iris. It has a 2,8 GHz double core Intel Core i5-processor (Turbo Boost up to 3,3 GHz). Too limited for Tower 3D Pro? (..I will use Windows mode via Bootcamp)

  3. I am not yet a customer (waiting for Tower 3D Pro) but from the images I have seen from Tower 3D addons like San Diego the buildings and surrounding dont seem to have the highest of quality. I know that this is very secondary where gameplay naturally is the absolute most important aspect of the product! Still however for payware stand alone addons could the buildings and surroundings not be of a bit higher quality? Much like a flight simulator where the default airports have a "good enough" quality but when you invest in addons airport the quality is much improved.

I find your addons airport prices to be very humane and actually fairly inexpensive. I would have no problems to pay double or more for a really good "Deluxe" airport every once in a while.

    Just a thought! :)

  4. I dont think it will be KSAN. Could very well be, but if my prediction of T&G operation in Pro is correct and the new airport support this new feature KSAN would not be a strange selection, not much GA traffic there :) Naturally my T&G Pro feature may be wrong, then KSAN very well might be the new airport. Time will tell I guess :)

Am I the only one feeling like a kid at Christmas? Pro, new airports. Fun times :) (maybe I should get out more, you know get a life) :)

  5. Very good news, Pro before Christmas! :) So this airport to be released next week I assume is the smaller one you talked about some time ago that will allow special features supported later by the Pro version. This was not a question, just thinking out loud :)

  6. Vic, having recently purchased a Dell ultra wide 34 inch (3440*1440) monitor I wonder if that is going to cause any problems with Tower!3D Pro? Originally I got it for Prepar3D and in that simulator one can select a wide view aspect ratio. When beta testing the software I hope you guys try that :) Lots of benefits I see with this monitors with its wide screen and a Tower simulator.

  7. Might one of those feature be T&G support given its a small airport with GA traffic ;) Anyway, personally I like that next airport it will be a smaller one. To me is just feels more realistic when you are just one controller doing ground as well as Tower control. Doubt that ever happends in real life at KATL or KORD or EDDF for that matter :)

  8. Hi

will the pro version (or standard version for that matter at present) feature the possibilty to detatch screens to other monitors. I am patiently waiting for Tower3D Pro and hope that will work. In Tower 2011 I remember it was possible and having a second monitor for radars etc is so much easier (....and look so much better not cluttering up the main screen).

  9. Well I am from Sweden and my dialect is far from perfect American and I have never had any problems getting voice to work perfectly in Tower 2011 or any other flight related voice product for that matter, FSX ATC communication etc. If they will make it even better, well perfect, bring it on :)

  10. Ah, was that a hint of sort?... :) so it seem then perhaps that I know what I will be doing those off work Christmas days. I just got me an Ultra Wide 34 inch monitor so I guess that big beast will come in handy controlling Tower3D Pro. Just hope my wife will not be too frustrated hearing constant chatter coming from my man cave where I have my computer setup "United 345, startup approved, Expect Runway 04" :)

  11. I really would like to get my hands on this but purchasing the standard version at this point might not be the best idea when the Pro is around the corner :) I have intentionally all this time been holding off from purchase until the Pro version. Waiting however has become even harder when you see T3D with RT and RC in action. Hope it will not be too long now.

  12. I have a sweet eye for KSNA, John Wayne airport for some reason. Something about that airport seem so intriguing to control. I don't know if it is the perfect mix of GA and comemrcial traffic on that airport, the location or somwthing else but one day I hope it will be an addon for Tower 3D pro. I have been holding out from purchase Tower 3D for the Pro version and I kid you not, I am very much looking forward to purchase and get my hands on controlling by voice the very day it is released.

By the way, I hope the new feature for Pro will be GA traffic doing pattern work. To mix these small guys in with commercial traffic on long final will add a new fun dimension.
