thanks for sharing the very fine screenies.

FINALLY!!!! :D
a christen eagle for fs that is worthy of its emulation.
the christen eagle was the first addon ac i ever looked for in the early days of msfs. i happily downloaded a version to add to my default fs4 ac. that was in 1994, or was it 1995(?). the download file size was 43kb!!!!! [there was some tutorial, also, in fs5 which demonstrated the techniques to design fs ac, using the c'eagle as a base. of course, my inabilities quickly tempered my notion as an fs ac designer.]
now LIC does their mastery with this sweet baby. and she is a jewel. get it even if you know nothing about the c'eagle. it is a beaut.
LIC is one of those developers that give credence to the true definition of a fs "developer" of addon aircraft, freeware or payware. there are more than a few payware developers that need to go out of business because their creativity & care & abilities for what they offer is geared more towards greed based on the gullibility of fs aficionados than their capability. but LIC could very well make a good market showing as payware were they not so charitable with the result of their abilities, care & love of this "game".
LIC's jewels are more like grandma's cooking compared to that a popular restaurant with their pasty grub: grandma's food is cooked with the major components of love, capability & a deep understanding of how to use the ingredients, whilst the popular restaurant's slop is based on the laziness of the consumer & the ability of the restaurant to cater to that laziness.
end of rant. :?
well done, LIC. 49 cheers to you guys.

ok then, the 2 of you give me a good sense of commonality.
i have so many fs addons for central & south america but it's been a while since i installed them.
i really like flying that area, from mexico (which i have realworld experience in the baja area) as well as brazil, peru & uruguay (also realworld as 2nd seater navigating).
got in a lot of trouble in brasil, as though we were running something illicit (not sure if the translation from portugues was "white slavery" or "precious metals") but long before my license was also rescinded for medical reasons, i decided the only flying in that area i would do would be virtually. someone stole our aircraft in manaus & in quito i was taken in as some sort long-sought after terrorist suspect. what a trip! :?
worldsceneries has an amazing set of sceneries. i have all so far. their aircraft aint happenin for me. but their scenery, along with the fsgenesis mesh for a major part of "south of the american border", really adds a sense of reality.
all we need is a very active animal & bandits/air-pirates & crooked/inept security force modules, along with the a heavy fragrance module, & it would be as real as it can get without leaving home.
thanks guys.

just wondering if there are any other virtual bush pilots flying the brazilian jungles.
if so, anyone using the worldsceneries amazonia scenery?
tnx

hmmm, sounz like y'all installed something that is playing havoc with your beloved emma/orcas scenery.
number of stuff to check:
(1) did you install a new mesh that affects the area since you satisfactorily used it?
(2) did you install any FSE scenery for the area? some of those generous FSE scenery can cause a CTD. best to disable/able the "active scenery" in FSE before you go to that area & ascertain whether you got a fse se/sc file that doesnt like you.
(3) do you have multiple afcad2 files? run "scanafd" to check for dups & rename the oldest one from .bgl to .hold (for safe keeping).
(4) have you installed any global terrain stuff since your last really good use of those fields. if so, temporarily disable that & see if your stuff comes back.
(5) did you belooterate ( my neologue for fubar-ing something  ) your terrain section in your fs9.cfg? if so, rename your present "fs9.cfg" to "fs9.now" (or something like that, but NO .cfg extension). then boot up fs9 & after gettiing annoyed for a few moments that fs aint setup the way you liike it go to the affected area & ascertain whether it is some semblance of what it was. when done, go back to your original fs9.cfg & compare it with what the sim rebuilt for you in the new fs9.cfg. this gets tricky, but can be done provided you aren't doing this after a few swigs of your favourite brewsky.
so many other things to troubleshoot, but USUALLY the culprit is the last "absolutely gotta have it" add-on not marrying up good with what was really working for ya.
sometimes, we addon-junkies forget that "if it aint broke, dont fix it" has more wisdom in its 7 baby words than we would care to admit.
good luck.

i have both the freeware pc12 & the payware pc12. both are good for what you paid for it.
the dynamics & panel in the payware flight1 version is a significantly top-notch, FOR ME. but with the freeware version you wont be disappointed that you didnt purchase the f1 version.
both fly very well as a pc12 would.
if you have a low-end (smaller than 2 GHz) system) & low-end vid you might experience a big drop in frames with the payware version, even with low-resolution turned on.
surprisingly, for the pc-12, both versions, AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, are very good. i guess since i paid for the flight1 version i would say it is very very good.
if you are BIG pc-12 fan put the bucks down on getting it. if you dont plan to fly her that much and you just want a pc12 in your hangar stick with the freeware beauty.
good huntin

brett, i LOVE that bennie frankling quote. real good un.
great news about your son. i'm certain he has lotsa stories to tell, many of which will never be told. i certainly havent told all the stories i could tell after my nam tours. some of that stuff is too nightmarish to share, except with those who know the sights, smells, sounz and fear of its reality.
real glad he can sit back with a more stable sense of peace around him. a very good sense of relief for your family too. God bless youz.
golly, travis, now that would really be "as it real as it gets" (i wonder when ms will stop using that phrase?) when your ac gets banged up as it would in the realworld.
to my knowledge, the other fs ac that comes to that is ffs vans rv7. i love that virtual bird. i dont know how many times i lost my flaps because i tried coming in too fast and used them to slow her up, only to be forced to go around with no flaps and taking her to shop for fixing. to-date my virtual bird is still under warranty, but if i keep it up it is going to cost me lotsa virtual dollars for my sloppiness & idiocies.
would REEEEEEEEEEEAAALLLLLLLLY love to see all the things that could go wrong go wrong on the defaults, as well as those addon payware ac that are quite good with the dynamics but the maintenance modules for the ac's either dont exist or suk.
fsd also has good maintenance modules built into their fine stuff.
on the political angle: whenever i sniff into the political arena i can easily see why the old cowboy movies of the 50s/60s had the local people figured right on. generally a bunch of cluckerheaded uneducated sheep who take whatever the media or the politicos say the world is - is, without giving more a thought. not really a fault than a fact. just the way things are. not a whole hell of lot of smart peops walking the streets. never really was. might never be. doesnt matter which country or culture.
there's always more grass and weeds around than flowers.

sweet shots, peter!!!
i dont know how i missed the news on this but i love those ole trimotorsaurus rexes, like the 727 & L1011. this one proves it will be a winner.
who's publishing it?
thanks for sharing.
-
thanks for putting me right, there, travis.
how's real flying where you are, nowadays?
that quote of mine is just get some thinking on this stuff, if some one wants. i like to change my quotes once in a while. i'm still thinking about what that one really means. one hears so much about "democracy" but few know what it REALLY is. i think it's been a long time since the politicians or many of us have read plato's views on it. he certainly didnt want idiots voting for anything other than where they would go to relieve themselves.
-
i believe, actually, the mesh would be least of one's problems. both players would have to be using the same of every thing, scenery-wise, especially the afcad2 file.
if i am using, let's say, af2_don_scenery1.bgl which has me at 3000 ft and my mp partner is using af2_don_scenery2.bgl which has him or her  at 3005 ft then i will be below her   in the scenery during multiplay, although i will be quite fine solo.
someone more knowledgeable please correct me.

cole,
dont give up yet, dude.
just to doublecheck:
(1) you cleaned out your internet cache
(2) you turned OFF any download accelerator (like DAP)you have
(3) when you get to the lago download site you turn your internet security options all the way to SIMPLE (then turn them back up once the download clears)
(4) you are sending the file to a valid directory
(5) you are able to retrieve somewhat large (greater than 50MB) files through your isp.
if you did all that then do this:
post haste write to ALL (via cc) of lago's staff and tell them your dilemna, if it cant be resolved request them to burn a copy of the prog on a disc and send it to you.
please let us know how all this works out for ya.
best great success!

howdy brett,
as our confreres affirmed as2004 is a must, IF your system can chug along with lots of clouds, addons, etc.
if one has more than 512MB ram and more than a 1.8GHz machine as2004 should be good to go.
as for the skyworld clouds: another must.
HOWEVER, backup your SATISFIED cloud textures and give the various sky combos of SKYWORLD a try.
take notes of which combi you like, etc.
the cloud textures, as with anything else in this game we love, is a combination of what your personal system can take and what YOUR EYES (and mind and heart) find pleasing.
good luck!!!

i'm having problems maintaining sustainable connect to internet for over a minute. :(( quite weird.
i would contact my isp but they will not be open until tomorrow.

rg chimes in on MF concerns here:
-
uroš,
thats the kind of thing i will be checking tonight.
i will be using this with activesky AFTER rebooting the system and then running fsautostart, which will include as2004 and cc2004 with a 4min wait AFTER fs9 starts and is stabilized.
that way i retain maximum memory for running everything within the sim and the mem is defraged beforehand.
i also use ultimate traffic at 100%, so system resources are at the high point of max usage when i am using the sim with ALL the neat bells & whistles.
fsautostart is a God-send when you want the sim to run with maximum benefit. i really dont need windows update to be running in background when i am virtually flying.
lotsa RAM, fewer background proggies at the ready.
at least that is the theory i am working with today.
i have a fs product review to write after my clipper run this weekend so i have a day to play with this before my new year's hangover rehab.
this is fun!!
-
this IS definitely a sweet proggie!
i am about to create some slope data for the blue mountains area of nsw ozland.
yahoooooo - i'll be soaring over katoomba again in one of my lago ultralights or a motorized glider.
in summer i can do the high mountain utah nevada cross country.
in the meantime i am considering including this in my automatic startup in fsautostart, but have to read how it REALLY responds to activesky, and some other stuff.
as real as it gets getting realer and realer.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL FIND!!! MOST ABSOLUTELY!
-
so mark, now that you got the fse off and the sim working, have you tried installing it with FSE prior to the newest module being loaded in?
do they have the basic FSE available WITHOUT the "fixed" exchange module, which COULD be the culprit to your problems.
my strong suggestion, in the meantime, is do a search on the lagosim forum (english, unless you also understand the italian forums) for "FSE CTD" or "FSE crash", etc. if it is happening to you i am almost certain it has (is) happen(ing) to someone else. see if there's been a solution for your comrades of circumstance.
good luck & great designing, my friend
-
real good to be flying with some of me ole clippermates again.
see yall 2nd day next year 1900Z
cheers
-
well, rg, if you are doing this, than like ALL of your other work for other areas, this alaskan work will become a NECESSARY ADDON for ANYONE who wants to fly with realistic terrain in our northern brother (is "alaska" the northern sista), IF their systems can afford the resources.
i am looking forward to it!
thanks, for the info
-
the whole state? could you imagine, matthew!!!? the package would have to be HUGE!
-
beautiful shots.
i, too, would like to know the conflicts for other payware addons in the area.
i'm a bit confused: is this related to richard goldstein's georender series?
-
yahoooo!
i have to give this a whirl for some soaring in the southern regions of the globe (summer there).
eric carden's been providing xctry thermals for some time. this one is going to be a hoot.
reminds me, i havent been to my ole virtual soaring haunt for quite some time (SOAR# 521, diamond cert, etc.). the SOAR guys were (maybe still arent) happy with fs9 lack of soaring support.
thanks timbodude
-
mark,
can you provide the date of your vimacore.dll?
that COULD be a reason.
sounds like a module problem.
i have fse but HAVE NOT updated it with the exchange thingee released the other day. i just use it in to play other peops fse stuff.
but just to check your lago dlls.
in my fs9\lago\common directory i have a file called
ViMaPlay.DLL dated 10 AUG 2004 (8/10/2004)
fs9\lago\fse directory
FSE.DLL = 12 SEP 2004 (9/12/2004)
FSEExUtil.dll = 3 AUG 2004 (8/3/2004)
FSEPlay.DLL = 12 SEP 2004 (9/12/2004)
FSERec.DLL = 12 SEP 2004 (9/12/2004)
zlib1.dll = 18 NOV 2003 (11/18/2003)
fs9\modules
ViMaCore2004.DLL = 11 SEP 2004 (9/11/2004)
ViMaIScn.DLL = 17 AUG 2004 (8/17/2004)
check those dates.
if you want me to gather these up for you and send them to you i will, if yours are different, JUST TO SEE if it stabilizes in your sim.
as i said i dont know about the exchange module.
another thing to do, in the meantime is to turn off the automatic ON in the fse config, so it doesnt play when you open your sim until you want it to.
located in fs9\lago\fse
FSE.CFG
open it in notepad
and you SHOULD SEE
[Player]
Autorun=1
turn the autorun numeric to 0
good luck, buddy
otherwise, like donS says, deep6 the sucker. YOU really dont need it for your abilities.
-
travis,
their caravan has been in the works for a while now, i think, but their at6 texan is due out @ anytime, last i heard.
quite a few trainers, now, in the virtual skies. just what a sim is for in many regards.
AI traffic at Thunder City
in Emma Field Flying Club
Posted
golly, guido, looks like you're all ready for doing some attacking.
i dont know anything that will separate inside your flightplan but
armando di francesco developed a fantastic program that you run once your fs is running and you have too much traffic for your simming to be fun.
it's called "AI TRAFFIC SEPARATOR".
if you go to http://www.projectai.com/libraries/ufiles.php?cat=8
and look for "Flight Simulator AI Traffic Separation_FSAISVv11.zip"
follow the instructions to its use & you should be ready to fly without a bunch of go-arounds or long taxi waits. it makes either the ground or air traffic more time-manageable.
looking good, mate.
good luck.
