  1. Hi Pete, thanks very much for above, and will have to check it out. This Post is simply to let you know that you were quite right; the black screen was simply WideClient/GC waiting for FSX to fire up. I have now managed to move resize instruments etc, so am pretty well ready to 'fly' Haven't flown for a couple of weeks while new OS installed etc etc on each Client, so flying withdrawal symptoms certainly creeping in!! Many thanks once again, Steven
  2. Hi Pete, I must have looked through the PFD ini a hundred times over the years, and don't recall such a parameter, but this is a good thought, and will have a hunt. Thanks again
  3. Thanks Pete. In my last set up using Windows 2000, I was always able to bring up PM software without FSX running. I use a program called VNC to see Clients on my main projector screens. This has always been helpful in sizing and moving PM software. Perhaps if I start FSX, get PM software up and running, then close down FSX, I will still have PM remaining to 'play' with. So far, I have only tested all four p.c.'s in my study, so must now cart them out to Sim room (The Tardis!!), connect up and see how things go. Will report back in a couple of days as away for weekend. Thanks
  4. Hi Peter, I wonder if you might be able to offer any advice. I have four Client P.C.'s for my home built 737-800. I have recently changed the O.S on each from Windows 2000 to Windows XP (32bit) I use ProjectMagenta Boeing Glass Cockpit software. I have everything in place, news keys provided by PM, but here is my problem. I have WideClient (6.9.8.9) plus ini, in the PDF Folder of each Client (just as before). If I start the PM software it works just fine, i.e. very good bench mark, and Full ICD Acceleration, However, if I start WideClient (reading - waiting for connection)) then start the GC program, I just get a black screen. Task Manager tells me the GC is running. GC program is set to be 'on top' of any other program. Normally I have these programs set to start automatically on boot up, and the result is the same. I have written a similar Post to Enrico, but I just wondered if this is something you have ever encounter? Thanks, Steven
  5. Hi Pete, thanks for info. on build 4.379. This did the trick; could now see all of window, so was able to calabrate rudders again etc. Many thanks for help.
  6. Hi Pete, I've found the answer/problem. I have FSX on this P.C. which I hardly ever use (because I have the simulator) I have just placed PFC on this P.C., and all is fine. Going to:- Add-on/PFC/Flight Controls/select - say rudders - up comes calibration window on left reading - Set Right Most/Set Right Centre Limit/Set Left Centre Limit/ and Set Left Most Limit. I have realized that the window coming up in the sim is not showing part of the picture, i.e. the lower half so I can't click on 'select'. This must be I believe because I am using a Matrox Triple Head Unit set @ 3071 X 768 resolution, with three projectors. I believe what I am going to have to do is link P.C. directly to one of my three projectors, cutting out Matrox Unit, calabrate all PFC items, then all should work fine when I go back to Matrox Unit. You were quite right, a graphics issue, and I should have realized this was the issue before. I will let you know tomorrow if I have any further problems. Thanks
  7. Hi Pete, sorry if not clear. On the PFC/flight controls page there is (normally) a window that allows you to calibrate rudder/elevators etc. It is this window that is not showing. Example - if I want to calabrate rudders, I would press the rudder pedal to the far right, and click on appropriate setting button, then far left, then small right and left to set up null position. After refitting spring to rudders, and starting up, it was these settings which had not been remembered. As said I replaced the ini with a backup I had, but still no calibration window. If I undertake a complete reinstall of PFC into moduls folder, then start FSX, let ini rebuild, again this calibration window is not there! I am about to have another go at things, and will report back.
  8. Hi Pete, I have PFC Jetliner console, rudder pedels, yoke etc. Recently one of my rudder spings broke; pfc sent a replacement, and I have just put all back together. I was using driver for FSX 4.3.4, and when I switched all back on my settings in pfc ini had been lost. I always keep a back-up of my ini file, and placed this back in moduls folder, but when 'going into' pfc menu - flight controls, there is now nothing listed on the left hand side, i.e. full right, full left, etc etc. I tried replacing the dll from pfc which I have (original program from them), then simply replaced with your dll, but again nothing there in order to calibrate. Can you offer any advice? Everything else is still fine, i.e. pressing yoke buttons for views, programmable buttons etc are as they should be; just can't calibrate rudder pedels etc! Thanks, Steven
  9. Thanks for quick response Pete. Think I might be upgrading O.S on each Client, but will have to give it a little more thought! Many thanks
  10. Hi Pete, can you offer advice? I recently upgraded my PM Glass Cockpit builds to 487. I run one main Server P.C. with FSUIPC (latest build) and four Client P.C.s My Server runs Windows 7 64bit and Clients Windows 2000 pro. I was having a couple of problems, and noticed a Post in the PM forum saying to solve 'their' problem they updated their WideClient program. I have just tried this, and WideClient will not start. Is this because it is no longer compatible with Windows 2000? Starts O.K. on 'this' P.C. running XP 64 bit. I placed my older WideClient program back, and that starts O.K. I appreciate I can upgrade all four clients O.S., but don't want to do this unless really necessary. Thanks, Steven
  11. Thanks Pete, all very helpful stuff. Regards, Steven
  12. Hi Pete, you have beaten me too it; woke up in night, cold sweat, realizing I had stated something quite wrong in my last post. I said my MCP was connected to my Main Server P.C. via a USB cable. You probably guessed as much, but it is connected to a Serier Com Port, which is then detailed/set in the MCP ini file. Just to put the record straight for anyone else reading all this. Actually, I do have a specific aircraft characteristics definition file set up in my FMC/CDU Folder. I seem to remember it was by someone called Steve Ryling. I believe some years ago Projectmagenta gave me a link to his 'files'. I expect you may have heard of him? Anyway, thanks Pete, and I will drop a line to Projectmagenta to see what they say. Regards, Steven
  13. Hi Pete, thanks for response. Yes, I am using the Auto Pilot when I am leveling off. This is dictated by the flight plan already set up in my PFC FMC. I am using the PFC MCP/autopilot, (hardware). This is connected directly to my main Server P.C. running projectmagenta MCP program. (USB) Thanks, Steven
  14. Hi Pete, firstly, you may recal I recently posted about 'jitters' with my PFC Yoke. You were quite right, it was a worn out Potentiometer. I contacted PFC who sent me a new one, and have fitted today. Tested and all is now S M O O T H. So just a word of thanks for pointing me in the right direction. If I may, I just wondered if you have any experience of the following. I have latest FSUIPC/Wide Server/Client, and latest PFCFSX.dll This probably has nothing to do with your Drivers, but getting any sense out of Microsoft is, well, difficult to say the least. It is simply when leveling off in my 737 sim (using default 737-800), I get quite a lot of ups and downs as I level off; i.e. say I want to level off at 35,000ft. The plane starts to level off at about 34,600, then at about 34,800 I can get a sudden climb of about 1000/12000 ft Per Minute before she will then level off. All in all quite a few ups and downs. On the decent, leveling off is much smoother. I should mention all of this is using the PFC MCP and Flight Plane set in the FMC. Hope you don't mind me asking you this here, but thought you might have some direct experience and possible answers. Regards, Steven
  15. Thanks Pete and Andydigital. I will contact PFC and see what they say.
  16. Hi Pete, I wonder if you can offer any advice on the following problem. I have FSX sp2, latest FSUIPC and use Precision Flight Controls Jet Liner Console and Yoke/rudder pedals; again latest PDCFSX.dll drivers. My problem is that when one looks at the Elevators from the outside (normally using the default 737-800), I get 'jitters' when moving the Elevator up or down. In the 'parked/middle' position they are stable and also when fully up or down. I have the Filter ticked within Flight Controls Menu, but this doesn't seem to help. These Jitters are translated into ups and downs when taking off and landing; when Auto Pilot is switched on after take off, all is O.K., and Yoke is obviously overridden by A.T. Please let me know if you require any additional information before you can comment. Thanks, Steven
  17. Hi Pete, we seem to be at cross purposes. Lets start again! The lower buttons on my throttle quadant I use for TO/GO, and have never been any problem. The addition buttons; left and right of throttle handles (built into them) I use for A/T disconnect. It was these latter buttons that gave the Code 00 and 01; perhaps this indicates they were not working correctly? So, as said in last post, I managed to 'link' these buttons via FSUIPC using the coding for the A/T on/off button on Console (just one switch next to throttle quadrant). Having done this, the A/T buttons on Throttle Handles now work; i.e. switch A/T to Off on MCP (which goes into flashing mode). Hope I am now making myself clear? Regards, Steven
  18. Hi Pete, sorry, when I said all was working, I meant everything except the A/T Buttons. However, today I have achieved a work around and got them working! As you suggested, I went to PFC Test page, and the A/T Buttons were working, coding 00 and 01. As you know I have a separate A/T Switch on Console, and I wondered if they were interlinked in some manner. I went to the FSUIPC Buttons and Switches Tab, and when I placed this switch from off to On it registered a code 19 - 14 in the two available boxes. I then set the A/T to OFF in the PM drop down menu. When I then tried the A/T buttons on my throttles (with the console button left in on position), off went the A/T on the MCP into off/flashing mode. So, everything this time is working, thanks again for advice, and I think we can now close this particular run of posts. I did by the way post my difficulties to FLYPFC regarding their self install PFCFSX.dll (in their Forum) Best wishes, Steven
  19. Hi Pete, I will certainly write to FLYPFC, or as you suggest place something in their Forum. When I purchased my Console, now a little over four years ago, I was given the option of having a 737NG Throttle 'Unit', which I paid extra for. Yes, this does have Flap Detentes, and have never been a problem. There is an A/T switch on my Console, but I have a PFC MCP (hardware), so for me it is better to turn the A/T off on this Unit (more realistic anyway) In the past I was simply able to set my A/T Off switches (on throttle handles) in the FSUIPC 'buttons and switches tab', and it is that that I can no longer do. I hope I am making myself clear; on my throttle quadrant, there are two further buttons for TOGO or as you mention, can be used for A/T off if set on PFC Main Menu. Anyway, all is now well thank you, and I shall report to PFC about these difficulties. Thanks, Steven
  20. Hi Pete, O.K. things are begining to make some sense, and infact I have things working! I hate to contradict you, but I got my PFCFSX drivers from FLYPFC, and that is a self install program. It tries to install FSUIPC first and then the PFCFSX.dll. That must be where the problem was. I deleated anything to do with PFC from my Moduls Folder and simply placed the .dll from your lastest build there (4.3.3 I think?) All then worked O.K. when I went to PFC Menus. Just one other thing I hope you can help with please. We touched on this in my previous posts, but I shall start afresh here. As you know, I have PFC Jetliner Console, but when I purchased I had the throttle quadrant replaced to represent a 737. I use the two lower buttons on throttles for TOGO, and normally the two 'side' buttons on the throttles for Auto Throttle Off. (which is actually printed on the 'handles'). I have in the past been able to set these buttons via FSUIPC 'Buttons and Switches Tab' However, when I go to this tab, there is a blinking cursor in the Box, but when I press my buttons which before would place a 'number code' here, nothing happens. In the past it would read something like #19etcetc, and then I could tick on FS and Include PM, scroll down and set A/T Off. Is there a step by step process you can offer to help? Thanks, Steven

I then use the FSUIPC Installer, this says all O.K. and asks if I want to Register, which I do for FSUIPC and WideServer. I have now started FSX, and gone into the FSUIPC Menu (Alt,addons,FSUIPC) set up my requirements. I close FSX. I now unzip the PFCFSX installer, and run the program. It says I have a later Version of FSUIPC and has therefore not overwritten. I then get the warning window about 'signature check fails'. I press O.K. on the warning window, and then looking at the Moduls Folder, the PFCFSX.ll has been installed. I now start FSX, and at the same time turn on the Jetliner Console. After a couple of seconds, FSX stops, and I get the window asking me for my COM Port Number. I duely give the correct Number and go back into FSX. Now I go back to the PFC menu (Alt, addon, PFC - FSUIPC is also still listed O.K>) I set to the Jetliner Console, and place 737NG on the 'Main page', and place a tick in select aircraft automatically. I now try to set up my 'buttons' on my PFC Yoke. On the Yoke page the FS Ctrls and PM Ctrls are NOT ticked; so if I now tick these boxes, I should get what is quite a long drop down menu on each tab. Normally I use these tabs for setting up different views to left right etc, but as soon as I press on a tab it turns blue, and FSX crashes, and I get a warning message/page saying FSX encountered a problem, and has had to stop. You will notice that the information in the PFC ini appears to be very limited, as if not created properly. You asked me to attach FSUIPC installer. Sorry, but I am not sure what you mean by this. If you mean the 'yellow' disk one double clicks in order to load the program, I am not sure I could attach that here? I think that is all the info. I can offer for now. I did notice however at the end of the 'top section here' that it refers to the 'problem!' I am receiving. Sorry this is so long winded. Thanks, Steven
  22. Hi again Pete, I have just completed another fresh install of XP64. I have installed FSUIPC and WideServer 4.5 (I actually decided to purchase new keys) no problem with this. However, when I went to install PFCFSX.dll I get the following warning window 'Problem! My signature check fails on the installed FSUIPC 4 dll. Please check that I am not listed as an "untrusted Publisher" in Internet Explorer (Int. Options-content-publishers) You are not listed there as untrusted. If I start FSX, my PFC Console is recognised, and I am asked for my COM Port etc. However, if I then try and set up my Yoke buttons having first 'checked' show all FS Ctrl's', where I would normally get my drop down menus, the box turns blue, and after a couple of seconds, FSX stops working, and I get a warning window saying FSX has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I have tried only to put PFCFSX Version 4.3 on so far. I assumed changing the .dll to Version 4.3.4 wouldn't help? Can you offer any advice Thanks, Steven
  23. Hi Pete, I have now found up to date FSUIPC 4.438 and PFCFSX .dll 4.34 You are quite right of course, I should have hunted a little further! For now I think we can close this 'run', so many thanks for all your help. Steven
  24. Hi Pete, I think my FSX installation may be currupt. On looking on the available aircraft page, under Boeing, I only have one 737 and one 744 available; no other liveries, which I know should be four or five for each. I went to the PFC Download page for PFCFSX.dll, and there is only one item there for downloading, Version 4.3. Can you tell me how to get Version 4.34? Also from your downloads page I could only find FSUIPC 4.4, I am looking for Version 4.438; had a look in PM Updates page, but could not find? With regard to 'Yoke Buttons' In the drop down menus, I used to get about eight view options, i.e. right/left/forward right/forward left/rear left/rear right etc etc. At present it is only giving me about three or four options, and all left views only! Perhaps, as you say there is something wrong with installation, so I am going to re-install FSX and SP's. Thanks for now
  25. Hi Pete, I went to try things again this morning, and having 'wiggled' switches 3 and 4 a couple times, they decided to work properly again. I think therefore that it must be a Hardware issue. You mention 're-seating' your switches. Can you give me a brief description of what you actually did. I have thought of asking PFC for a couple of new switches, which I am sure I could re-wire. I have therefore decided not to send a long copy of the INI at present. I am using Default 737-800, as I run ProjectMagenta Software on my network, and they say to always run with default aircraft. I am using PFCFSX.dll and it is Version 4.3.0.0 (I know I called it PFC.dll, which I do know is for FS9) While writing, I wonder if you could comment on the following. I have just started to reset everything in th PFC Menu, and I see that when I went to the 'Yoke Buttons Tab', nearly all options for views right, left, rear right/left etc etc have gone from the drop down menus. I have the Jetliner Yoke; is there any other way to set these views up? I did try using the 'key press' option and then appropriate Number Pad number, but didn't seem to work very well. Many thanks, Steven
