  1. Thanks yet again Al and I really do appreciate it but I'm still clueless. Maybe I'm just stupid and can't grasp it as I'm 56 so there's that. I spent four days busting my brains trying to figure this stuff out and I can't get it. So I gave up in disgust and loaded my last save pre-FSUIPC paid version via Acronis. What I need is a Dummies kind of guide. Pete's guide, especially the advanced is WAY to difficult for me to understand. I spent ALL day today and tonight trying to read the manual and trying to figure this out, it assumes a body of knowledge which I don't have. There's too many codes you have to cross-reference and memorize. All this and no joy, all I wanted was for the three modes to work. But no, I lose 2/3 of my buttons, forget that noise. I'm going to keep all this and maybe study it later in a better frame of mind but I really do think it's light years over my head. Especially the editing of the ini file. Pete may be brilliant but what's needed is a gentler guide, a simpler introduction to it. I wasted $30 this weekend. Such is life.
  2. Thanks Paul, it looks like it's a matter of matching up what's in the advanced document with what is shown in the ini. Becoming intimately familiar with the contents of the "FSUIPC4 for Advanced Users.pdf is daunting. That's a lot of stuff to cross reference. I'm going to try to keep at it but I see frustration in my future and just giving up the whole works and staying with Saitek's SST. I've been at it all day and I still have no idea what I'm doing. I haven't even gotten to the point where I assign axes yet. The regular manual is over my head. It really is. I don't know how you guys do it.
  3. I've spent the entire morning and day so far just setting up buttons. I then looked in the FSUIPC.ini file and it's like an alien language. Right now I'm going to try to figure out this trusted installer stuff. Thanks for the link. And I appreciate your help Al. Thank you.
  4. Right, I've spent the morning going step by step with the manual. I have assigned functions to buttons. I do have Enable Controller" unchecked in FSX's settings but I am using the commands under the Buttons/Keys tab in FSX. Things are working but I lost 2/3 of my yoke & throttle switch functionality. So I have opened the FSUIPC.ini file and copied the text so far. I have no idea what these codes mean so perhaps you could help me? Or where would I find more information about them? And how exactly do I get the mode switch to be recognized so I can use it as a shift to allow me to program the same buttons? 5. Hi Al, I found it but I can't rename it because I get a pop-up that says, "Access denied - Require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file."
  6. Hi Pete and thanks. But I have no idea what an offset it, or what B66C0=n means, or an Offset byte is. I'm going through your manual as I type this to try to get this stuff set up and I even notice you mention on page 17 "for programmers among you". I'm not a programmer, that's why I'm struggling. Please remember this is all brand new to me, I do not have a body of knowledge about this that most users do. But I am trying and plodding along. All I wish is that I could have the same functionality in FSUIPC with that stupid Mode switch so I can have triple button assignments. In the Windows 7 Devices window it sees the mode switch move but it's not a number, just a set of three horizontal bars that shows where it is when rotated. I will spend the day mucking about with it and looking at that ini file and try to figure things out but I fear that unless someone comes to my rescue I will not be able to use FSUIPC. I'd gladly pay someone to help me get this set up. Best regards and thanks for being patient.
  7. Thanks Al, when you say to try programming it in FSUIPC.ini I really have no choice but to try to figure out the coding and scripting. I did a lot of searching and couldn't find anything anywhere that shows how to do that.Would it be possible for you to post the code that pertains to the mode knob and how you did it? Could you PM me with the text of your ini file? I really appreciate the help Al, so far it's all I have to work with. I wish someone had written a book on how to learn this but so far nothing.
  8. May I ask Paul, where did you learn all this? Did you have formal training? I have ben googling all day and night and looking at YouTubes but I can't find anything that even comes close to a method of leaning this stuff. What you typed above seems to make some kind of sense but it's still too much for me. I have no knowledge of scripting and programming at all. All I know how to do is fly as I have been in real-world aviation all my life. I am getting frustrated and might have to give it up and stick with the SST software and send back the X52. If I can't figure out how to get the mode switch to work I have no need for FSUIPC becuase I'll lose 19 button assignments.
  9. Pete directed me to this thread. So I looked at it and I'm completely baffled. I printed out all the manuals and can't find what these codes mean, like PD and PA for example. Does anyone know where I can find information on how to learn this stuff? Thanks.
  10. Hi Al, when this file is renamed will all it do is allow you to actually use the mode rotary switch as a separate button or will it allow me to use it as the Saitek software allows me to use it? I mean will I now have triple the amount of buttons? As it stands now, unless I can learn all this programming to edit the ini file to allow the mode switch to act like a shift key I will still only have 14 buttons. With the SST software I now have 29 buttons mapped so I'm 15 short.
  11. Pete, I'm very sorry to ask so many newbie questions but I read in a tutorial somewhere or maybe on a forum that it's recommended that all axis assignments be removed from FSX's settings section including mouse and yoke despite "Enable Controller" being unchecked. Is this your opinion on it?Thanks.
  12. Hi again Al, here's an excerpt from Pete's manual. As per what he describes I have to edit the ini file? Do I have to do this in order to use one button for three functions? Is it difficult to do? Im still reading the documents. Compound (or conditional) button actions can be programmed—with the action of one or more buttons being determined by the state of one or more other buttons or switches. This can be used, for example, to program a bank of buttons for different things depending on a toggle or multiple position switch, hence multiplying the effective number of buttons available. The same facility can also be used to cope with those types of rotary switches that indicate which direction the spindle is being turned by the phase relationship between two button lines. Again, this more complex facility can only be accessed by editing the FSUIPC4.INI file, and is described in the Advanced User’s Guide.
  13. Thanks Al!!!This is what I've been hoping for. I will try this as soon as I get a chance in a little while. How on Eaeth did you discover this? It's brilliant! So you're saing you now have three modes like withthe SST software and can now have each button assigned three things? That would make things a lot better for me so I don't lose 2/3 of my button assignments.
  14. Thank you Pete. I posted to that thread but don't know if anyone will post back as it's been last posted in July. I'm not sure if it is 1-32, now I'll have to turn on the PC and check. I only tried two button assignments as a test and they worked but haven't even started the axes yet. I printed out your manuals and have them on my iPad so I have to read them and try to understand them. It looks difficult but if others can learn it I can too. How often do you update this? Do I come here to find the latest updates? I was poking around in it and two things caught my eye I really like, the battery drain setting and the clock setting. Nice work. It must have taken you a while to program PSUIPC. It's brilliant. Thanks again for your very prompt replies Pete.
  15. Hello Paul, Pete sent me this thread as a link as I'm a brand new user to FSUIPC. First, that code looks way over my head. Ok, here's what I'd like to know how it can possibly be done. I have a Saitek Yoke, throttle, and pedals. I have been using Saitek's SST software for a year now but I just bought a Saitek X52 Pro I'd also like to use and the SST's don't get along. Saitek even duplicated it, the X52 software freezes my yoke. So I bought a registered copy of it yesterday. I'd like to start with the yoke, throttle. and pedals. I haven't even begun setting them up yet as I have to read the manual and assign as I go. I have FSX Gold and Win 7 64. A lot of A2A planes and the NGX. What I really need to know is if there's a way to program the Mode 1-2-3 rotary switch on the back of the yoke so I can have triple functionality of all my buttons. If not then I'll lose 2/3 of my assignments. The same goes for the X52 Pro as it too has a mode 1-2-3 rotary button. Do I have to learn all that code? How do I learn it? Do I need SPAD? Or LINDA also? It seems daunting. Thanks and best regards. Paul H.
  16. Hello, I just bought and registered the latest version of FSUIPC. I have a Saitek yoke and would like to know if it's possible to have FSUIPC recognize the Mode 1-2-3 switch at the back of the yoke. I used it in three different modes with the software from Saitek. But if I can't get it to recognize that rotating mode switch then that kills 2/3 of my button bindings. Anyone familiar with the Saitek yoke with the Mode switch and FSUPIC? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Paul PS: complete new user but I am reading the manuals.
  17. Pete, one more question. How do I buy it? I see it for sale on SimFlight's site but is that the latest version? I'll buy it today if it is.
  18. Hello Pete, Jetline installed the free version because FSX or something else neded it. I fully intend on buying the paid version as this will solve all my problems. Can't I still use some of the button assignments in FSX settings when controller disabled is checked? When I download and install the new one do I just install it over the older one or do I uninstall the older one first? Thanks. Paul
  19. I have FSX Gold. Win 7 64. Saitek Yoke, throttle, & pedals all using FSX and Saitek SST software at present. Just bought a Saitek X52 Pro. Would like to use it for stick planes in FSX. 1. Do I need to uninstall the Saitek SST software for the yoke? The Saitek SST software is not installed for the X52. (Causes conflicts, hence possibly using FSUIPC). 2. Do I need to install just the Saitek drivers for these devices, when I plugged in the X52 Windows installed a driver for it so I imagine I need that correct? 3. I have the free version of FSUIPC, version 4.939u 24 June 2015 installed by Jetline, the people that built my PC. 4. Can I have all these devices plugged in at the same time? 5. I have seen many YouTube videos on setting up FSUIPC and they all say to uncheck "Enable Controller" in FSX, that's fine but will there still be some commands in the controller settings portion of FSX I can still use despite it being disabled? 6. I see when I bring up the FSUIPC module in FSX that in order to install the payware version I have to re-run it outside of FSX. Where is this program, in what directory as I did not install it. Will this install the latest version or will it license the version I currently have? I am going to read the user's manual in a little while but it looks like a learning curve which isn't a problem, it'll just take time. Thanks for answering my questions, PLEASE go easy on me as I have never even attempted using FSUIPC.
  20. Hello, I'm not good at this kind of stuff. I have been told that I need to update the freeware version. I currently have version 4.937 which was installed by Jetline who built this PC. What is the latest free version and how do I download and install it? Please go easy on me as I'm not sure how to do all this. Thanks you.
  21. Thanks, I just wanted it for more flexibility, everyone tells me to use it. I have the freeware version of FSUIPC becuase I guess it's required for some things. I didn't say everyone in the world is having probelsm with it. Just that I saw some people with issues with just Siatek stuff. Not afraid to try new things, I just wanted to know if it will work with Saitek stuff and the NGX and the Duke V2 Turbine, epecially in reverse mode. Please understand that I am new to this, one has to start out as a newbie on things doesn't one? Thanks for your answers.
  22. Hi Pete, it's a pleasure to actually speak to the legend who created this module. Before I commit to buy though I'd like more of my questions answered, remember I am a total newbie. 1. Is there a link where I can look at the manual first to see if it will be too difficult for me? 2. No one ever answered about the Saitek yoke, throttle, and pedals, I have seen many times where people have trouble getting reversers to work with FSUIPC. 3. Again, do you know of any video tutorial where they show very specificially how to set up my Saitek gear to work with FSUIPC? 4. I don't really want to buy something I'll be completely frustrated with, that I can't figure out. This all goes back to posts I have seen on many forums where people have difficulties with Saitek gear. Thanks Pete.
  23. Hello all, this is my first post. I have been using FSX for years and only use the free FSUIPC because it was installed by Jetline when they built my PC. I have FSX Gold, Win 7 64, and Saitek yoke, throttle (one so far), and pedals. Presently I use a combination of FSX's built-in control and Saitek's SST. But I have been reading for years about how much better the pay-ware version of FSUIPC is. I'd love to learn it but I'm an old dog and it looks like it has a steep learning curve. I fly mostly the NGX and the Duke V2 Turbine. I looked at YT's and couldn't find a decent one that really explains how to use it for a beginner. Does anyone know if there's a specific tutorial that would show how to use it with my equipment? Plus I want to buy a second throttle soon so I'd like to know how to program it for the throttles, reversers, spoilers and flaps. Any help would be very much appreciated as I need something like an "Idiot's Guide" if you know what I mean. Thank you. Paul
