Hello all at simFlight,

For the past couple of days i have been having a problem linking my throttles to my FSX Airbus and it is really doing my head in, i have trawled several forums, read about one hundred threads and almost burnt out the search function on every forum ive visited.

I have also located and read through about a thousands pages of PDF documents, edited a bunch of code and .XXX files that is just gobbledygook to me and my head is so filled with text and numbers and options i think ive gone into meltdown and must just be missing something very simple.

Out of everything i have read, including all the "SOLVED" threads, i cant one single agreed solution.

My old setup was a cheap and cheerful joystick with built in throttle lever which worked perfectly with no added software required.

I then went out and purchased 2x Saitek throttle quadrants and for the life of me cant get it to work with my Airbus X Extended throttle for more than a couple of hours.

I managed to get it working once, full throttle movement including reverse! But hadn't the foggiest idea how i did it, but it worked. GREAT! closed down FSX -came back the next day and it didnt work. argh!

after reading many threads on different forums i purchased FSUIPC which in theory i can see is a great peice of software and if i can get it to work correctly will be great.

I have been able to set up buttons, flap detents, axes ranges in order to calibrate "gear up" and "gear down" its all great, ive even managed to get reverse thrust working by using the button at the bottom of each axes as a reduce throttle 'repeat', perfect. but for the life of me i cant get the throttles axes to move forward in the slightest.

Nor can i get the setting to "save" (is there such a function/button?).

I hope somebody can help me out here, i am close to breaking point.

many thanks in advance for any help.

Are throttle changes seen in the Axis Assignments tab? If not then there's something wrong with the throttles or whatever Saitek driver or other software you installed. The values shown in the Assignments tab are those received directly from Windows.

If the throttle changes are seen there, then the problem is in your calibration. Follow the numbered steps in the FSUIPC User Guide chapter on Joystick Calibration.

All changes made during a visit to the FSUIPC options pages are saved to the FSUIPC4.INI file when you press OK to exit. If you use another method, like pressing Cancel or the Escape key, then those changes are discarded in favour of the settings before you entered the options.

Thank you for the reply,

Throttle activity is seen in the Axis managment tab, ive even tried setting max and mins as well as sync pos.

ah i see so effectivly the OK button is the save button. (which i always use)

I currently have the PDF user guide up and have been following the steps telling me to either set it to "send direct to FSUIPC" aswell as "send to FS as normal; axis", neither seems to work....

ive even reinstalled it and set everything back to default using ignore Axes and Clr Ignores etc. Still no joy.

There are no "max" and "mins" or "sync pos" in the axis assignments tab.

Don't mess with things you don't need or want. just follow the steps to successful calibration. Theyare numbered to make it easy!

Those are simply modes of assignment. The actual assignment is below, using the drop down selections. Unless you tell FSUIPC what you actually want the axes to do, it can't do anything with them!

No i mean yes i have activity in the axis management tab, then the PDF tells me to move on to the calibrating tab and says to "set" a "min" and "max" in the joystick calibration tab under seperate throttles (3:11)

yes i have checked the boxes and assigned them functions but have also tried both modes of assignments.

I just dont get how i am able to set up flaps and gear exactly the same way as i set up throttles, yet the throttles dont work and the flaps and gears do work?

But what functions did you assign them to? They are different in any case between "direct" and "FS" type control assignments.
