Button and switches greyed out

I recently got a new controller, and while all axes and buttons are recognized it is impossible to create any assignment. Im only using a single controller recognized as #0. The function field under the Buttons and switches tab is always greyed out no matter which button is pressed.

There's no "function" field. Do you mean the two alternative Buttons & Switches assignments sections? Are you selecting "Select for Key Press" or "Select for FS control"? Whichever you select, the other will stay grayed out. Is your pressed button correctly shown at the top?

Assignment facilities are also grayed out (both sides) if there are already multiple assignments to the same button. For handling multiple assignments you need to edit the INI file, as described in the Advanced User's manual.

Please alsways state which version (the number please) of FSUIPC you are using.
