This site bills the ability to use multiple keyboards: http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims.html I was pondering buying the product, since it's cheap and looks useful. Just curious if you'd ever used two keyboards. I'd appreciate your impressions on that.
-
Pete, can I use two keyboards, if one is PS2 and the other is USB? I want to do aircraft-specific keypress programming, and I'm under the impression that FSUIPC will recognize the 2nd keyboard as a separate device. Any info is appreciated! Hawg

MS Sidewinder Strategic Commander
Hawg One replied to Hawg One's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Pete: Is it possible to have FSUIPC translate one keystroke into another? I want to have, say, CTL+SH+1 translated into SH+5. That would help immensely. -
Pete, have you already specified a quick-and-dirty way to get a hat switch (CH Yoke) to work normally without being assigned as the hat in FS9, where it works normally un-shifted, but the shift functions of the button can be programmed for other purposes? Hawg.

MS Sidewinder Strategic Commander
Hawg One replied to Hawg One's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
Pete, the Strategic Commander is not seen as a gaming device (by design, according to MS). So I'm guessing it's a glorified keyboard macro transmitter. grrrr. By the way, I changed references to "Mission Commander" to "Strategic Commander" because I made a boo boo. It has a swiveling body which is, supposedly, a pair of joystick axes... still messing with it. -
Pete, I've got one of the handiest devices I ever purchased with the legacy MS Sidewinder "Strategic Commander". I'd like to make that a "joystick" seen by FSUIPC. Have any suggestions on how I'd do that? I'll be messing with it, and if I come up with an answer myself, I'll post it, but I figure you've probably run across this before. Thanks! Hawg.

Button assignment problem
Hawg One replied to Ken Hall's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
I use my CH Yoke right-horn trigger button for a mic key. However, I do not use FSUIPC for making that work. May I suggest that you use the CH Control Manager software instead, which intercedes prior to Flight Sim and FSUIPC. I have unassigned F11 and F12 (L/R brakes) in FS9, and made F12 my mic key in TeamSpeak (do not choose a key that repeats when held). In CH Control Manager, I have assigned that button the HOLD F12 instruction, and it works great. -
Runtime Reload of FSUIPC.ini
Hawg One replied to Hawg One's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
I'm developing the Button Screen on the 2nd computer, and was looking for a fast way to reload FSUIPC.ini to get the new assignments loaded... Thanks! Hawg. -
Pete, is there a way to refresh (reread) FSUIPC.ini without stopping/restarting the sim? Hawg

Well, Pete... dogonnit... I plugged in my monitor that goes several yards out and a few feet down, and sure 'nuff there it was. I removed the Window= line, and sure 'nuff, it showed up on my regular-sized monitor. Thanks... now I'll play with it and see if I can scare up some results. THANKS! Hawg.

Pete, just for more information, I use WideFS for ActiveSky and RadarContact. Both work excellently over the network, and even with these edits, they continue to do so. WideClient fires up at computer boot (part of Startup) and I normally have Visible=No per your previous advice. I changed that to Yes while trying to get this panel to work. I just get... well, nothing. What I'm wanting to do is move some keystrokes over to mouse-clickable buttons on this other computer (HAWGSERVER). Thanks for your prompt feedback.

Heya Pete: I thought I'd try and implement the Button Screen facility on my WideFS machine. I've done the edits as described in the last part of the WideFS User Guide, setting up a screen identical to yours which I'd go back and edit later. However, nothing pops up at all when I start WideFS. What am I missing? Are there edits required elsewhere, on WideServer or FSUIPC ini files? Thanks! Hawg.

I was able to get it... no problem with the link as far as I can tell.

Not so interested in the mini-icon as I am the house-keeping issue of getting it off the taskbar. Most programs that run as background tasks and have no need for access/user input reside by the clock. If I make it invisible, which is a great idea, I'm assuming I'd need to use Task Manager to shut it down, correct? That would be fine, if it removed it from the task bar. Thanks! Happy holidays.

FSUIPC with CH Control Manager?
Hawg One replied to Howard's topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
I use CH Control Manager and FSUIPC. I have had absolutely no problem, ever, using them. Hierarchy: Windows Game Controllers, for calibration CH Control Manager, for identifying axes and buttons (mine is set up as three "aux" devices, and I do programming for buttons here). Flight Simulator, with all axes full scale and no dead zones FSUIPC, for getting full-range signaling, applying dead zones, and sensitivity curves. Works great... last long time. -
Heya Pete: Would it be possible to modify WideFS (running 6.71 for FS9) so that there is an option to reduce it to the lower right corner (by the clock) rather than having it reside on the Windows task bar?

FSUIPC4 Reverse Compatibility to FS9
Hawg One replied to a topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
That's about what I expected. Thanks anyway. And now that you mention it, the first purchase was through SimMarket... it was FSNav that I bought from directly from Helge. My mistake. I'm going to pay for FSUIPC/WideFS again because I'm the one who allowed the key to get lost. Think I could get my money back on v4.01? Doubtful. They'll probably charge me to downgrade. YOU NEED TO MAKE IT P L A I N that v4 is NOT for FS9. I've talked to no less than a dozen people in two days who have suffered the same fate due to updating from 3.7 to 4.01, not knowing that it wasn't FS9 friendly. And you can call EACH of us idiots and insult us however you like, but it doesn't change the fact that it IS NOT APPARENT that the update is NOT for FS9. -
FSUIPC4 Reverse Compatibility to FS9
Hawg One replied to a topic in FSUIPC Support Pete Dowson Modules
It's me, "sparksnmagic" My account went "inactive" after that post up there. The story in short is this: I bought FSUIPC from you back when you first started charging for it. For whatever reason, I lost the key and you said you had no record of me buying it. After a brief pissing contest, I ended up buying it again, this time from SimMarket. That's been a few years ago, and the account has since gone dormant with a long-expired email address. The installation and removal of FSX last week corrupted the registry so badly that FS9 was rendered unuseable. I R&R'd FS9, and put in your FSUIPC4 in. Bam, there went my FSUIPC/WideFS key (somewhere in that process). SimMarket won't replace it, you won't replace it (I assume that from our previous conversation), and now I'm stuck buying a version that I don't know will work with FS9. What I want is a working FSUIPC/WideFS for FS9, like I had a week ago. It looks like I'm going to have to spend another $52 to get there, and I'm not pleased. Yes, I have gotten my money's worth out of your product, as you keep asking so many people, but this will be the third time I've paid for it. So you can understand why I'm a little edgy.
