1. I use the default settings and I haven't tried changing them. Don't think it'll make a huge difference though.

"Note that you cannot change the acceptance angle explicitly. It is adjusted automatically, in linear inverse proportion to the change in the range—so with a larger range you would need to point the aircraft nose more accurately."

It's already unforgiving, in my opinion. If I would increase the range, it would become more so if I understand the quote correctly, if I would decrease it, same thing, because I don't want to zap only what is right in front of me, but also AI say two or three miles in front of me when I know they won't make it off the runway in time.

So I rather liked my suggestion. No worries about angles, nose pointing and whatnot, if it's in the cylinder, it's gone. I can see some people preferring the current system, so perhaps you can give users the option, old style, new style. But I definitely see the potential of my approach as well.

  2. Like the feature, but it's a bit on the strict side. It took ages for me to get an aircraft out of the way that was right in front of me on final.

Would it be possible to change the zapper in such a way that it would delete any AI aircraft within a user defined cylinder, where the user aircraft is in the precise middle of that cylinder? Two changeable values, diameter and height of the cylinder. That's what I call a real traffic zapper.

You see, often I'd like to get rid of an aircraft directly behind me on final as well. And well, sometimes AI can be on top of or below you. So quite hard to zap with the current system.

This is for FS9 by the way.

  3. I've already tried excluding them, with AFX, that did not work. I'll have a look at the textures and see if that works. Even if some parts are untextured, an AI aircraft parked on top of that would be less of an issue than two aircraft parked in the same spot.

    Edit:

I'm just gonna forget about it. :D

  4. No files with stat/static for either scenery. For Valencia I was able to narrow it down to a specific file, as mentioned above, but so far my attempts to remove the aircraft from the file have resulted in nothing. For Palma De Mallorca I haven't started narrowing it down. There are more files and even if I found the file responsible, I don't think I could do anything about it. As it looks like the same techniques are used. And it's not so much static aircraft as it is part of the scenery, because nothing is blocking actual gates, just aprons and not the main ones either. So I don't think they were meant to be removable in the first place. If anything I blame the ridiculous amount of AI I have to facilitate.

No need to dig into your archives. I guess I'll have to live with it. And it looks like there will be new versions of some of these airports anyway, from what I understand from the Menorca topic for example.

Anyway, thanks for the belated reply.

  5. Scroll down to the 'Barcelona' topic and you'll find plenty of discussion. In your case, try and disable 'TAXISIGNS-LEBL.bgl', rename the extension to bak, then fire up the sim and check.

Personally, with all the patches and issues, I'm looking forward to a new version of LEBL.

  6. You know, if it can't be done, I can understand that. They're old sceneries, old techniques, if you have something better to do and it looks like you have what with all the new sceneries, then that's fine.

But please, do not ignore your customers. Communicate with them, even if you can't tell them what they want to hear. I for one appreciate that a lot more than static. I mean, how long does it take to type out a quick reply. Sorry Mike... It's not too much to ask for EUR 49.99, is it?

  7. You're not imagining things, there are some issues. Fortunately, you don't have to wait for the designer to acknowledge and correct them.

Download the following file: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=75995. From that package put LEMDAPR.bgl in the Scenery/Generic/scenery folder. That should take care of the approaches.

Then open up your Afcads and go to Lists > Comm Frequencies. Then look at my capture and change your Names to reflect my settings. That should take care of the ATC.

  8. I've recently purchased the Holiday Bundle 1 from SimMarket. During the install process I chose not to install static aircraft. They did pop up at Gibraltar, but disabled them there without a problem.

At Valencia (2004), this is a whole nother story. There are five Fokkers that are a pain. One of them is in a hangar, I can live with that one, but there are four of them south of the runway that are in the way of my military AI. I have played around with val_3.bgl, but my recompiled edit removes a little more than just those five aircraft.

So I was wondering if you could supply me with a patch which would get rid of the static aircraft at Valencia.

I'm almost done with all these airports as far as Afcads and Ultimate Terrain Europe patches go. Then it'll be flying time. Had to have something to fly to apart from the new Barajas scenery (which is really nice by the way) and old LEBL.

  9. One last comment, exclude-ils-lebl.BGL (Blan Parcelona's patch) doesn't appear to be necessary if you use an Afcad based on Jim Vile's package. This is also due to the taxiway differences around the new runway between Plan Barcelona and Jim Vile. The antenna is on a taxiway with the Plan Barca Afcad and thus needs excluding. This isn't the case with Jim's Afcad, so it can stay.

And that's all have to say about the matter.

  10. Okay, I've had a closer look.

Capture 1 shows the default Afcad, it works best with the default taxi signs (lebl_1_fs2004_neu.bgl, controls other things as well).

Capture 2 shows the Plan Barcelona Afcad. In the instructions, you're told to disable the aforementioned bgl taxi sign file, it is replaced by TAXISIGNS-LEBL.bgl. The combination works.

Capture 3 shows Jim Vile's Afcad, which is based on the default Afcad. It comes with its own taxi sign file, LEBL_SW1_ILS_jv.bgl (controls other things as well). Again, the combination works.

Notice the difference around the new runway between capture 2 and 3. Because of that difference, you will get what you're seeing, if you don't match the right afcad and taxi sign file.

It's up to you to decide what you want to use. I'm going with capture 3.

That means an install of Barcelona 2004. According to Plan Barcelona's update, the disabling of barca_5.bgl, lebl_pinyellow_fs2004.bgl, and lebl_1_fs2004_neu.bgl. And the installation of the new files, except for LEBL_ILS_jv.bgl (I use the one from Jim's package, which is the better option because of the install location and the Afcad difference), LEBLobjs.bgl (causes anomalies and objects in the wrong place), and TAXISIGNS-LEBL.bgl (I use Jim's taxi sign file). Then Plan Barcelona's patch (exclude-ils-lebl.BGL in a scenery layer higher than Barca). Then from Jim's 1.1 package, I use the LEBL_SW_ILS_jv.bgl file in Scenery/Generic/scenery (the only correct location). LEBL_SW1_ILS_jv.bgl in Barca's scenery folder (taxi signs and stuff) and then an Afcad based on Jim's work to go with the previous file.

Hope that made sense. If it didn't, tough luck. :P

  11. I'm thinking that exclude line was for autogen (trees) on the "new" runway, not for those buildings, but anyway...

Try disabling TAXISIGNS-LEBL.bgl. I think you'll find that'll fix it. It's not ideal, because I think it gets rid of legitimate signs as well. The scenery comes with signs, plan barcelona as well, and Jim's file, depending on which Afcad you use, it can get complicated. Maybe I'll look into it further later.

  12. Perhaps it's time for a reinstall of the scenery.

For your information, I have the following things installed for Barcelona:

    * Barcelona 2004

    * Plan Barcelona Upgrade (except for LEBLobjs.bgl, which causes visual anomalies)

    * Plan Barcelona Patch (one file, exclude-ils-lebl.bgl)

    * Jim Vile's 1.1 LEBL Sim-Wings Active ILS file (comes with incorrect readme, but with new taxisigns file)

    * Barcelona Revision 2 Ultimate Terrain Patch

  13. Can't say I recognize the issues from the second capture, but the first I do recognize.

In your scenery.cfg file, at the end of the Barcelona SC entry, put the following line:

    Exclude=N41 17.03,E2 4.78,N41 16.95,E2 4.95,objects

That should do the trick. By the way, have you installed the Plan Barcelona patches?

  14. Thanks Thorsten!

Harpsi, I'm gonna get on it right now, look for a package in the Avsim Library later today. It'll include the taxi signs file in xml and bgl form, an approach code bgl file and probably an Afcad or at least detailed instructions on what to change in your own. I'll also post a link here of course.

  15. Hi,

According to the French AIP, the runways at LFML are now 13/31's instead of 14/32's. I have updated my Afcad, I have made a file to hard code the change (so that all approaches will still work among other things). What's left are the taxiway signs. I was wondering if Sim-Wings could either provide the source code (XML?) or make availlable an updated "lfmltaxisigns.BGL" file.

I'm uploading the approach file to Avsim and it would be great if I could include updated taxisigns as well or at least link to something, a thread on these forums, a page on your site...

To get an idea of my earlier work, take a look here.

It would take only a small effort on your part and it's free publicity.
