  1. stefan, 7000 euros is more or less the average price for the ppl here in portugal. there are cheaper schools, but i'll go with this one since i know some people who got their ppls there and they gave me good references.

  2. hi guys!

today i had my first real flight in a cessna 152 :) only 15 minutes and the instructor didn't let me land the plane :) but it was awesome! now i just have to find a way to tell the wife we have nothing better to do with 7000 euros :>

  3. i have spent several times the price of fs2k2 on add-ons. having said that, i feel i don't get as much out of any of them as i get out of fsuipc (maybe flight1's ultimate traffic). fs2k2 is nothing without fsuipc.

without fsuipc, my sticks don't work properly (ch pedals + yoke and thrustmaster stick for airbuses); i don't have decent weather; a lot of the planes i use don't work and i don't even have a proper battery. pete dowson turned this hobby into something a whole lot different, something that wouldn't exist without him. so i don't even care about his personal motivations, he would have my money even if he was already swimming in it. why is everyone arguing about spendind a couple of more euros/dollars/pounds for something which changes the fs world so radically? i mean, if everyone here has bought emma field, let me tell you that emma doesn't do half of what fsuipc does for your fs experience (and i believe emma is the greatest add-on *ever* for fs2k2). i don't remember anyone saying 'pff, those guys at lago... we always had great sceneries for free, so we're not going to pay for this'.

as a final note, simon please crawl back to whatever rock you have been hiding under, nobody is interested in what you have to say and you're not helping peter in any way.

  4. just noticed, from the data list, there's a 10-year gap, between 17 & 27! no responders to the age thread.

could mean a whole bunch of stuff.

    just a notice.

i would say it's the hormones. they'll grow out of it, eventually

  5. The MAC address is the physical hardware address of the device; all network devices (network card, routers, etc) have them. When a major vendor ships their product, they often give the same MAC address to all the routers, which means that a hacker knows the MAC address of everyone who has that router brand. By changing the MAC address, it reduces the ability of the hacker to gain access to the router.

no, every network device in the world has a different mac address. each vendor gets assigned a range, so the mac addresses of a vendor's equipments all start with the same prefix.

mac addresses don't mean anything out of the local network, and even on the local network they only have meaning at layer 2, the internet protocols we use work at layer 3 and they don't know anything about mac.

so there's nothing anyone can do to your equipment based on the mac address. what they can do is to lookup the vendor of your equipment based on the mac address prefix, and then lookup vulnerabilities for that vendor which they would be able to exploit afterwards.

  6. this particular setting only applies when one doesn't do a full install.

regarding framerates, i thought i heard it all (tweaking, etc.) until i read this article by mathijs kok on the subject. it's not a technical article, and perhaps everybody here has already read it, but please try the 'blind' test mathijs suggests. it is so simple, yet it had never ocurred to me (ok, enough name-calling :)

  7. same problem here... the update fixed the floating scenario and trees, but now the plane is sunk. from what i could see, there is some layer above the runway, when i switch from bird's eye view to spot view, initially i see the centerline, and as the camera approaches the plane, it disappears and the plane is sunk. also, i don't see the center line in bird's eye view, and i saw it before installing the update.

  8. another kid here: november 1971.

in the monthly flight simmers dinner here in lisbon there are several guys in the 14-17 range, and the average of the group should be in the 30's.

when you talk gender, only a woman is present. aren't there any women here?
