  1. This is with all a/c I see, not just the Level-D after all... my mistake. If I temporarily move all the FSUIPC files out of the FS9/Modules folder, the problem is resolved, so it is clearly an issue with the way FSUIPC is set up (I wonder therefore why all was OK till yesterday: I made no changes myself to FSUIPC). I do not need to have FSUIPC acting on my joystick at all - I am happy with the way it works with my Saitek profile, but I can't see how to disable this function - nothing I have tried works. Hope you can advise, as I can't really fly properly at the moment, with spoilers and reversers deploying whenever I move the throttle. Thanks again.
  2. Hi, I haven't flown the Level-D 767 for a few months (this is FS9, BTW) and I now find that when I am ready to taxi and increase throttle, the spoilers immediately come up and the reversers open... This is undoubtedly something to do with the interaction between my Saitek X52 and my (registered version of) FSUIPC. If I increase power by using F3 or F4 on the keyboard, there is no problem - but as soon as I touch the throttles on the X52 the speedbrakes immediately go up... I am reasonably OK with the Saitek setup but am not too familiar with the FSUIPC interface, I'm afraid! I do not have this problem with any other aircraft, just the Level-D 767, so I am wary of tampering in areas I don't understand too well (FSUIPC!) and messing up things for other aircraft. Could you kindly help me to sort this out, I am pretty sure that the problem must be due to the way I have FSUIPC set up and the way it interacts with the Level-D software. No luck Googling... Thanks a lot, Martin
  3. ... try placing your VBS file in the FS9 folder and executing it there Good idea - that works!
  4. Thanks for the reply. (".. from the Recycle Bin", because I had deleted the files before running makerunways.exe again). The vbs file works by accessing the makerwys.exe file itself, not a shortcut. Of course the exe file is in the main FS9 folder, in which there is no FSX data! Very odd. I might ask on a scripting forum.. it's no big deal that it doesn't work, I can run the exe directly rather than through the batch script (which would be 'neater', but no matter): it's more the fact that it does this strange thing, and why, that intrigues me. I have updated the exe file, Thanks again, Martin
  5. Salvaging the file from the recycle bin, it simply says this (curiouser and curiouser!): Make Runways File: Version 4.60 by Pete Dowson Reading FSX updated SCENERY.CFG ... CFG file being used is: "D:\FS9\scenery.cfg" FSX??? Nothing has mixed these files up before. They are on separate partitions and the vbs file doesn't mention FSX... You said "It determines this by firstly identifying the version of FSn/ESP/P3D from the relevant EXE in the current folder, so determining the correct path to the Scenery.cfg folder". So what would that imply? Which is the 'current folder'? Where Makerwys.exe is (that's my main FS9 folder)? Hope you have a good Christmas Pete. Maybe get back to this after the 'festive saeson'! Martin
  6. EDIT: Ooops, am I posting this in the wrong forum? Sorry!! Hi. For reasons I won't bore you with, I am trying to run the (very neat!!) makerunways programme as part of a batch script (part of automating a database process). It is activated by this vbs script: ------------------------------------ intAnswer = _ Msgbox(" Do you want to run MakeRunways?", _ vbYesNo, " ") If intAnswer = vbYes Then WScript.Sleep 2000 Dim objShell Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" ) objShell.Run("""D:\FS9\MakeRwys.exe""") Set objShell = Nothing Else End If ------------------------------------ This starts the programme up just fine, but for some strange reason, it stops (not hangs - says it is finished) after locating only 46 runways in my entire setup! If I run it from the file itself the programme finds 30000, or whatever. Why would the programme, once successfully started, show these differences, depending on whether I start it directly, or via a script? Thanks, Martin
  7. Pete, I have installed the latest FSUIPC.dll file, which you say will cure the problem. If I do get further difficulties, I will stop FSHotSFX loading at FS9 startup. It is, all in all, a pain of a programme - not least because it keeps switching off the NAV1 radio during ILS approach. It does, however, improve the noise of AI aircraft by several hundred percent (they now sound very impressive indeed) and I would be very sad to lose it. (I've rigged up a script file which disables the programme at the click of a mouse, allowing me to do proper ILS landings). I'll post back here if problems continue, in spite of the above. Sounds as if things should be OK though. Thanks again for your help Peter, Martin
  8. Dear Pete, Thanks for the reply: I went abroad just after your post and have only just returned. Hence the long delay in my getting back here with an answer. I will study what you say carefully and reply as necessary as soon as I can. Thanks again, Martin
  9. The one time I had the error message, since I last posted, I went to the FSUIPC folder, only to find that there was no log file there at all. I had enabled IPC read & write logging. Odd?? So I created a blank log file, which now has entries. Since then I haven't had any FSUIPC error messages.. I am going abroad for some months next week, so if I don't get any problem before then, it will be next Spring before I post back. I will do so though, if I get any future problems along these lines, Thanks, Martin
  10. I changed the panel by the way - I am now using the defauly B737-400 panel; still get the same message... M.
  11. I have the latest version of AS6, and installed FSUIPC 3.7.0.9 but I still get the problem - intermittently. I have loaded up the same flight several times this afternoon to troubleshoot some other problem, and the last time I loaded it I got the 'not accredited' message. I'll have a look to see if there is anything on AS6 forums, but if I don't find a solution, I'll enable full logging in FSUIPC and send you a zipped copy, as you suggest. Thank you, M.
  12. Hello Peter. I wonder if you could kindly help me with a small problem. Every now and again (about 20% of the time I start up FS9, I get an FSUIPC error window telling me that a programme I am using is not accredited for use with an unregistered copy of FSUIPC. The next few times I use FS9, I probably don't get the message, so I am a bit confused. The log file (near the end - 43500) seems to indicate ActiveSky as the culprit (?) but I've had that installed for several months with no problems until now. Does AS6 need a key for FSUIPC? Also, 737NG.air looks to be a problem (this is from Jon Murchison's 737NG_AIS AI collection, nothing to do with PMDG) - but again, I don't see anything about a need for a key for this air file anywhere. The log file is below. 13. .... all of which means, I should have made clear, I will happily continue with 3.7 of course. The notice re. reverser problems on their website is probably old and hasn't been changed (?). They certainly ignore their support forum almost completely ...
  14. Hi Peter. No, I use an unregistered version (as I haven't really wanted most of the functions that the registered version makes possible). Rest assured I wouldn't use a pirated key!! A good number of us are still honest! :-) FSHotSFX still say that versions of FSUPIC over 3.40 cause problems with the the reverser engine noises. On the other hand, although I like the programme for the great AI traffic sounds (a HUGE improvement over the default), the support for the product seems almost non-existent as far as I can see.. Here is the URL to the page mentioning FSUIPC, if you didn't see it - right at the top under 'current issues: http://www.fshotseat.com/ Thanks, Martin
  15. I have bought FSHotSFX, mainly for the improved AI traffic sounds. It seems that they are having troubles with the software, in that reverser sounds will not work with anything above FSUIPC 3.40. Until they fix this issue, is it possible for me to download a copy of v3.40 from somewhere? Thanks
  16. Yes, I tried it of course, but it is part of an airport scenery I have installed and there is no documentation at all, even on a Google search, as to what this module actually does; I have no idea therefore what I am supposed to be looking for. I thought perhaps if it was not registered, it wouldn't be doing anything at all -, but I guess you are right in that it is automatically registered with FSUIPC on installation. M.
  17. Peter, Hi. The SDK document for Actigate.dll says that there is an FSUIPC freeware key for the module, but a search hasn't shown anything on this site. Is a key necessary? If so, could you kindly tell me what it is? The SDK page is at, BTW: http://www.scenerydesign.org/wiki/doku.tigate_sdk Many thanks, Martin
  18. I see Pete is on holiday ('bon voyage' - and (more to the point), bon retour, Pete!). I am sure someone else will be able to answer my question however. I have always managed well with the generous unregistered version of FSUIPC, but from posts to various FS forums it seems that the registered version may be able to help me tweak my (already massively tweaked) setup in a way that I otherwise cannot. My 'gripe' is with the visibility settings: I find that when flying at medium to high altitudes (i.e. over 15,000'), which if you are in a 747, you are bound to be doing, the available settings for visibility in the advanced weather options are all but useless. At 'unlimited', everything is crystal clear, even at 40,000', which to my eyes looks pretty awful (especially with FScene ground textures making things brighter than the default in any case). However, at '50 miles', the next step down, there is so much haze that I might as well have not bothered investing in FScene, (or FSGenesis and all the rest), 'cos you don't then see much worth seeing. I am told that the registered version of FSUIPC would enable me to fix this. I have the manual, but cannot quite see how this would work in practice. Could someone very kindly enlighten me? Many thanks, Martin
  19. Hello Pete. Thanks for the reply (and, along with thousands of other votes of thanks, for FSUIPC, of course! Great programme - even in the unregistered version!). I have AISmooth v. 1.12. 20. Hi. I wonder if someone could please help me sort out a small problem? About 50% of the time I start up FS9 (why not every time?), I get a message box pop up saying that a programme I am using is not accredited to be used with an unregistered version FSUIPC. I cannot tell from the log what this might be - the AISmooth I have states that it runs fine with the unregistered FSUIPC, if that is the programme responsible for the messages (it seems to work OK, even so). What are 22890 & 24484? The FSUIPC log is as below. Can anyone say where the problem might be and how to stop the error coming up? Thanks!
