I have only had FScene (Asia & Australasia) for a few hours, and for the most part I like what I see.
I am a bit worried about the repetetive nature of some of the scenery - certainly in comparison to the default. The small stretches of water here are pretty much the same shape and so close together, I can't help but be reminded of wallpaper:

Is there any way of editing or thinning this out - he asks, hope against hope!

Does the installation of the four FScene world packs require an internet connection? I don't have one on my FS2004 PC and software which needs online verification before you can install it (e.g. Flight1's downloaded stuff) causes me great problems! (Unless there is a clear optionin the setup to install to a PC on a network - which some do not provide).

I feel the answer to this must already be out there somewhere, but I can't seem to locate anything. A few questions.
If I buy the FScene package for Europe, how would that fit with my existing Visual Flight VFR Terrain for England & Wales (I have no actaul photo scenery installed, just the teerain pack)? Are they mutually exclusive and going to clash horribly? What are the basic differences between FScene's view of England and the one I have now, through VFR Terrain? Te latter has the most amzingly detailed coastlines - does FSene also do this?

Hi. I wonder if someone could please help me sort out a small problem?
About 50% of the time I start up FS9 (why not every time?), I get a message box pop up saying that a programme I am using is not accredited to be used with an unregistered version FSUIPC. I cannot tell from the log what this might be - the AISmooth I have states that it runs fine with the unregistered FSUIPC, if that is the programme responsible for the messages (it seems to work OK, even so).
What are 22890 & 24484? The FSUIPC log is as below. Can anyone say where the problem might be and how to stop the error coming up?

I am beginning to see airports in FSNav 4.6 that look like this: (I tried to add an attachment to this post, but got the message : "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: include_attach_lang() in /home/virtual/site6/fst/var/www/html/includes/functions.php on line 279").

Thanks for the reply. As I say though, I'm afraid that the Help documents are not the easiest in the world to follow - several people on chat sites who use this software have said to me that they have frequent headaches trying to fathom the meaning of the English. No matter - the programme itself is really good (and of course very gratefully received as freeware) and I am beginning to work things out by trial and error.
The only problem I really have now is that I get a horizontal band in the sky, parallel to the horizon, usually a darker blue sky below it than above. Lower cumulus clouds pass across this line but high clouds above it are just cut off at the line - it looks very unnatural to say the least. I can't see anything in the documentation nor have I been able to rectify it by experimenting. Any solution I've missed?

OK. I uninstalled the programme and reinstalled it, and now I have clouds - by trial and error! Nice ones too. I don't know why the first install wasn't successful, I did exactly the same thing second time around. I still have a couple of (doubtless dumb) questions though, if someone would be so kind.....
1. Is it right that whatever I install in FSW will stay in the FS2002 programme until I change it - i.e. I just set the advanced weather options in FS2002?
2. Should the 'sound' folder in FSW be empty?
3. What's a good average setting for the min/sec? I still haven't quite worked this out yet.

After a long download, FSW seems to have installed OK, but I can't get any clouds!! To put this as tactfully as possible (and this seems to be a pretty common view out there in the various FlightSim newsgroups, it's not just me) the users' manual is pretty incomprehensible - the English doesn't make a lot of sense half the time. Whatever, this is by no means intended as a message of complaint: I just wondered if someone with a little time, patience and kindness could point me to (or write?!) a simple step-by-step guide to getting any sort of FSW clouds in FS2002 - I did very briefly get some storm clouds that were definitely not Microsoft's but they faded away before I left the ground, so I think the software must be installed OK, but I haven't been able to get them again. In particular, what do I do once I am in FS2002 (there's no button 'add cloud layer' in my set-up, contrary to instructions)? I've followed the instructions as I understand them (and I don't really class myself as 'thick'!!), but nothing... And do I close FSW before launching FS2002; if not, what's that 'pinging' noise that carries on in the background? Many thanks for any help you can give.

I see Pete is on holiday ('bon voyage' - and (more to the point), bon retour, Pete!). I am sure someone else will be able to answer my question however.
I have always managed well with the generous unregistered version of FSUIPC, but from posts to various FS forums it seems that the registered version may be able to help me tweak my (already massively tweaked) setup in a way that I otherwise cannot.
My 'gripe' is with the visibility settings: I find that when flying at medium to high altitudes (i.e. over 15,000'), which if you are in a 747, you are bound to be doing, the available settings for visibility in the advanced weather options are all but useless. At 'unlimited', everything is crystal clear, even at 40,000', which to my eyes looks pretty awful (especially with FScene ground textures making things brighter than the default in any case). However, at '50 miles', the next step down, there is so much haze that I might as well have not bothered investing in FScene, (or FSGenesis and all the rest), 'cos you don't then see much worth seeing.
I am told that the registered version of FSUIPC would enable me to fix this. I have the manual, but cannot quite see how this would work in practice. Could someone very kindly enlighten me?
