FSUIPC & Saitek FSX Pro-Flight Panels

I'm new to this with limited programming aptitudes. When I start Flightsim x i receive a warning panel "Saitek Pro Flight panels for fs 2004" with the message "unable to connect to fsuipc". When i continue i enter flight sim but some of the controls do not work on the saitek instruments. What is fsuipc and what does all tis mean to me? Thanks
